Anyone else bored this Saturday night?
Was offered the No.1 Mk.3 I've been begging for today for $250, but the decrepit old man who offered it won't answer the number he gave me. I have to drive back home tomorrow so here's hoping he answers tomorrow, otherwise I have to work out meeting him at Wanenmacher gun show.
Anyways, here's my G98.
>>31770506
Still hung over from last night. Gonna stop drinking for a while.
Just woke up, fucking exhausted from today. Not bored exactly, but we'll roll with it.
Don't know exactly what I want next, Walther PP or C96 maybe, maybe a revolver?

Newest milsurp.
K31
SKS
>>31771832
How are you liking the K-31? I'm considering picking one up in the immediate day or so.
>>31771866
Not him, but mine is ok. Not my favorite, but it's fun to shoot now and then.
>>31770657
Nagant revolver

>Fun to shoot now and then
Tell me how your wallet feels about this.
I have an idea
>find a mosin with some glaring flaw
>I mean, barrel and stock are both roached
>salvage receiver
>get NOS M39 barrel and stock
>drill and tap receiver
>put on a repro PE scope and mount
>put together a non bubba m39 SOV
It would be the 7.62x54 equivalent of the Gibbs 1904a4. Would it still be considered "bubba" though ? Surely it would be better to rebuild it into a new rifle than let a mosin continue to rust away
>>31771943
>Bubba
Yes
>Bad?
If you do it right, nobody would really be upset, it's mostly bubba builds that are "Tactical" or "Zombie" that everyones upset about.
>>31770609
Anon, my quality of life has increased tenfold since I quit drinking and switched to drugs instead. You should do the same, comedowns and depression and better than vomiting and a raging headache ;^)
>>31771933
Pretty good, considering I reload all milsurp calibers. And since it shares components with 308, 30-06, and 7.5 French, I'm not exactly hurting when I shoot it.
>>31771977
>vomiting during/after drinking
pleb, sounds like you need to git gud.
Besides, I can't be rolling every day. Shit takes a hell of a toll on your body.
Just got an M91 Nugget for my first firearm. I plan to keep buying milsurp firearms.
Are there any good bolt actions I should be on the look out for? They'd most likely be used for shits and giggles, but hunting is always on the plate.
>>31772032
Mas 36.
>>31771909
I've been working on this in MSPaint for like an hour now. I want to bubba so badly.
Just got a Brazilian Mauser.
I think I'll be the first person to shoot it in 70 years
>>31772103
Those have possibly the sexiest of any rifle crest.
>>31772158
That's one of the reasons I bought it.
Had I know it would be so hard to take apart from all the dried cosmoline...
>>31771843
Love this. I love battleworn SKS. Please post more bruh
>>31774167
>when someone breaks in during photo shoot
So what's a good price for a mauser? I found one for sale a 349+30 shipping. It seems to be an unissued yugo M48B with all matching serial number and pretty well taken care of stock. There seems to be the tinies bit of rust on the bold and receiver. Pic related.
>>31774294
>For a Mauser
There are about 300 million different Mausers out there, so you're gonna have to be spexific. For a M48, that's not bad. Not a steal, but not bad.
>>31772032
Mauser rifles of pretty much any variety
>>31772103
What are those chambered in?
The owner of one of my LGS called me about some 91/30s he's bringing in, says they're all in good shape and priced them at 200-225 with bayo and ammo pouch. What do you guys think, are they worth it?
>>31774740
That's not a horrible price nowadays, but honestly I would try to find something better with that. Its not terribly difficult to fknd Mauser rifles for that price at gun shows, for example. But if you really want a Mosin, jump on that, because $200 is on the lower end of prices nowadays.
>>31774755
Every Mauser I've seen at local shows or LGS have been outrageously expensive. One of the shops has a bubba'd Yugo for 500, I really hope no one buys
Anyone else keep a beat to shit Nazi BHP under their pillow?
Anyone got tips on buying a nugget? Gunbroker has a few listed for $175 with matching #'s and they look to be in relatively good condition. Would it be worth grabbing one for that price and cleaning it up?
http://www.gunbroker.com/item/592117884
>>31774886
I keep a Polish P64 under my pillow. My Nazi Hi-Power is too nice to risk it getting stolen by leaving it sitting around outside my safe.
Yours looks like a relatively nice early model. Do you like the grips? I bought some new factory FN walnut grips to replace the plastic Hogue ones mine came with, and the walnut grips were so thick it made me feel like I was holding a fucking brick and I hated it. Just wondering if the old Nazi grips also feel chunky.
>>31774898
>Anyone got tips on buying a nugget? Gunbroker has a few listed for $175 with matching #'s and they look to be in relatively good condition. Would it be worth grabbing one for that price and cleaning it up?
If you're a collector and want a historical WWII rifle, go for it. If you want it for practical reasons I really can't recommend it because they're usually not very accurate, heavy, and xbox huge.
>>31774971
It's mostly due to the former. I have a fetish for WW2 rifles thanks to my Grandpa bringing back an Arisaka Type 38. My only concern now is that apparently NJ (where I live) doesn't recognize C&R licenses, so I'm not sure if I'm even able to buy from Gunbroker and have it shipped to me.
>>31774931
I suspect some GI brought this home rusted or let it rust. Someone "refinished" it by grinding off 90% of the rollmarks and rebluing it, giving the slide and frame different finishes.
The only way I found out this was a Nazi BHP was through rigorous research and tiny clues. It'ds a WaA140, tangent sights, no stock slot, roughly 35,000 made.
Old SN stamps under the new ones.
>>31775020
What I believe to be a fragment of a Waffenampt above the takedown notch, where they always were.
>>31774981

Why do you need it shipped to you? FFL transfer fees usually aren't that terrible, and you can shop around and find someone who will do it for like $20.
But yeah if you're a collector than go for it. Also check out Swiss K31's or the various Arisaka rifles if you want something better that's still affordable (for the moment).
>>31775028
It shoots to the left, and the barrel is pretty pitted, but I've wanted one since I was 12, and I actually got it for Christmas '14.
>>31775043
Do you like the tangent sights on it?
>>31774779
Where do you live? I find Mausers and Enfields all the time for $270 or less.

>>31776164
God damn I need one of those right now....
>>31774981
Monmouth Arms and ocean armory have the cheapest transfers I've seen in the state
Obligatory fuck nj
>>31775052
Love them. they're a bit fucked up and can't extend past 100m, but I doubt I'll ever take it to 150m.
It's pretty much what a "shooter" Luger is. In decent enough shape to shoot, but won't pull any cash at auction.
It's a 1943, by the way.
>>31776164
Thanks. It's my favorite semi-auto I own.
Now I want a MAS. How bad is 7.5 French price wise? Any worse compared to say 7.5 Swiss or 8mm?
>>31774886
Nope, but the k98 is under my bed
>>31775246
Come to Oklahoma. We have cheap stuff out the ass.
>>31776628
PPU is about $0.75/rnd. Reloading can drop that to about $0.40/rnd.
>>31776708
Any word on the .308 conversions? I'm guessing they probably arent that great.
>>31776862
Correct, they aren't. The case head for 7.5 is a bit bigger and this results in feeding issues, among other things.
Bought a mk III Enfield yesterday at a gunshow. Made in 1918, my first milsurp outside my nugget and Sino-Banian SKS.
My background got delayed...goddamn it.
>>31776897
Good choice, I love my Mk. III*
>>31776906
Thanks. The bore is great and now I'm all excited and all I have is youtube and a few clips I bought to play with.
>>31771943
It's Bubba as fuck and any collector who actually knows what an m39sov is will shit on you
I plan on getting a couple of rifles soon. Out of this list what should i get first, fun and shootability is priority, cost is second.
Enfield no4
K31
Mas36
(Insert other bolt gun here)
Il get a mauser eventually but cant really decide which would be best, theres too many variants.
>>31776114
Something I can feasibly buy boxed ammunition for. I like des belle françaises as much as the next guy but equipment to reload another caliber is still $$$
>>31776951
I mean, if it is just a reproduction and not marketed as anything else then what's the issue ? Nobody shits on people with repro m1903a4s
>>31777985
I find 7.5 French at gun shows all the time for $15 a box.
>>31778003
US milsurp market is retarded and a lot of the people who "collect" stuff aren't really purists like much of the collectors for other guns like Mosin and Enfields.
And people always say shit like "we'll it's just a repro and I would be totally honest about that" but I see lots of people get burned by humped rifles. Though an m39sov would be very easy to spot a fake.
>>31779725
Exactly. It would be easy to spot a fake. The receiver with no [SA] mark, the scope saying ACCUMOUNTS on the side, it would literally even be made out of otherwise unusable parts. I just don't see the problem
Any one here own a imi golani? If you do, what are your thoughts on it? How did you acquire it?
>>31778038
Where's the best place to find a MAS 36?
>>31776701
If only it weren't so flat.
>>31779869
A fake is still a fake and it deserves to be shamed
>>31780734
It's only fake if you say it's the real deal my dude. Nobody said anything about passing it off as real, that's literally a blatant thing that anybody could see
>>31770506
I took my milsurps out over the weekend and shot the M44 and M39 nuggets, as well as an Ishapore 2A enfield.
The M39 is the real deal--super accurate and great sights.
The Ishapore is usually a decent shooter, but I was using some British Radway Green 7.62 NATO. That ammo is terribad. Best I could tell, it was shooting about an 8" group at 100 yds (I was shooting steel targets).
Has anyone else ever had such a bad experience with Radway Green milsurp ammo?
>>31771866
Fun to shoot, but >>31771933 is correct, it can be expensive unless you do like >>31772011 and reload for it. It's supposed to be pretty accurate, but I haven't shot it hardly at all because I'm a poor collegefag and I don't get much range time in general. Also be sure to pick out a nice one, mine was pretty beat up and I bought it a new handguard that fits a little better. Accidentally slow rust blued the bolt too.
>holy shit all those dubs
>>31772461
Don't have many pics. 1956 manufacture type 56, everything matches except gas assembly and magazine. Cleaning rod doesn't work (threads chewed to shit). Everytging else is in good order. I kind of want to drop it in a brownells traditional looking stock and get a cheese grater gas system for it so I'm not afraid of beating up the matching stock.
Hey goys I need some help. I went shooting this weekend and my Lee Enfield forend stock cracked in two places. Should I have it repaired or should I buy a new one?
Bought two P/U snipers as my first Canuckistan purchase ever, one for my brother and I. Matching aside from forced matched scopes, dated 1942.
>>31783875
EDIT: Top dated 1944, bottom dated 1942.
Is it safe to dryfire milsurp? If not whats a good way to make dummy rounds, take an already shot round and just load a bullet? Maybe paint it so you know its not live?
Can anyone help identify this? Pardon the faggy lights, its in a restaurant.
Why is classic asking $700+ for shitty French bolt actions that it will be impossible to feed?
>>31784687
Looks like a Vetterli, looks Italian, maybe Swiss.
>>31784717
Because fuck you, that's why
>>31784717
Because people will pay that price
>>31774728
7mm mauser
Got my "shooter grade" m48 from AIM today
>>31780294
Gunbroker. Best place for a lot of milsurp, especially if you have a C&R.
>>31784717
>Mas 36
>Shitty
No.
Also, if they're pre-armistice guns that's a fair price. They probably aren't, but still.
https://youtu.be/7iDKaYg33ik?t=8m25s
>>31776164
>>31776607
What is that?
>>31790952
French Mle 1949/56.
Australian here looking to purchase my first MILSURP rifle and it's a cross between the Mauser, Mosin and Springfield.
Which one do i pick? taking into account of overall price of the gun, price of the ammo and rarity of the gun (would prefer a gun that isn't super hard to find and good quality for the price)
>>31791555
The only Mosin worth fucking with is a Finn M39.
Mauser is great. Springfields are likely more than they're worth in Oz.
A Lee Enfield is neat, but not very accurate vs the others.
>>31791555
The easy answer is a Mauser K98k Conversion that Chambers 7.62x51 NATO. Tens of Thousands of those were converted post war for the west german army and virtually all of them are now surplus. Their collector value is relatively low, but the ammo is and will be literally everywhere and its a solid reliable action in a very good caliber for only a couple hundred bucks usually.
The Upside of this particular conversion is that it's an excellent gun and for anything but operating and dealing with swarms of "zombies" will be literally the only centerfire rifle you'll ever need, fully capable of taking everything from a groundhog to a polar bear.
The down side is that after using this particular combination of rifle and cartridge most other Milsurp is going to be kind of disappointing in performance terms and the only way you'll be able to get an actual better rifle is to spend $500 or more on a commercially made hunting rifle.
>>31792240
>Tens of Thousands of those were converted post war for the west german army and virtually all of them are now surplus.
You're probably talking about the Israeli ones.
