You got yer FiveSeven? Or going to get one?

How is the lever shotgun? I'd imagine it has a fair amount of muzzle flip.

I think I'm done buying guns for a while. I can't think of anything that I really would like other than a 329pd but I'm not a super fan of revolvers, after having a 357 and 500SW.

For favorite rifle I'm torn between the Krag and the SVT-40. Both are wonderful shooters.

For favorite pistol, the one that means the most to me is my late grandfather's P.38. He took it from a surrendering German in early 1945. As for favorite to shoot, either the S&W Model 19 or the Lugers.

It's hard to narrow down to just a few as they all interested me enough to own them.

Here's a nice photo of my C.96. It's also quite fun to shoot, but far better with the stock affixed. It has an impressive muzzle flash.
>>
>>31769051
I love those old world German firearms. Quality in mass production that's unmatched today.
>>
>>31768941
>>31768958
Depends greatly if it's in original condition or a relined parts gun. You can usually get something shooter-grade for under $1000 but guns in decent original condition have only been climbing in value. Expect to spend closer to $1200-1500 for a nice 7.63mm gun and upwards of $1800-2000 for an original Prussian Contract 9mm. A large number of the 7.63mm guns have been bored and relined for 9mm which destroys the collector value but many unscrupulous or unknowledgeable folks will try to pass them off as originals.

I love guns built in the 1890's to 1920's range for that reason. Labor was cheap then and quality of product was more valued than speed of production.

Here's my M1905 Mannlicher, built around 1907 at best guess. There were only about 6,000 of these made.
>>
>>31769072
Pretty much spot on. my 9mm is relined which I couldn't give two shits about. Kept the cost low so I have a nice shooter.

I would stick with 7.63mm, personally. The ammo has been readily available from Fiocchi and Prvi Partizan. Authentic Prussian Contract guns are quite expensive and there are a vast number of fakes floating around. The small frame 'Bolo' guns are cheaper but you really want the full size grip frame. It's awkward enough without the undersized grip.

I would advise making yourself familiar with the features of the different models before you start shopping. www.1896mauser.com is a good reference for the basics.

It's a Martini-Enfield MkI. Its receiver is dated 1881, it was originally a Martini-Henry MkIII in .577-450. These were rebarrelled in the 1890's (mine dated 1895) with Enfield-rifled barrels in .303.

I don't shoot it all that often because I have to handload for it with flat-base bullets and I drug my feet getting a set of dies for .303. It likes 174-180gr bullets but I really want to try some 215gr Woodleighs to replicate the MkII load it was designed for.

at minimum you'll need a punch and a hammer (some dickhead will now say he did the whole thing with a some vice grips, post pics of your handy work dickhead) You can buy a special cheap tool to make the front pivot pin install really easy (I did) but it can be done with a razorblade shim or a proper-sized allen key. The neat little tool to install the trigger guard was also worth it. Wheeler makes a cool kit for a like $60 or something with everything to not fuck up the finish or break one of the ears.

Real talk, is an SKS the best option for a cheap combat type rifle?
>>
>>31772090
FWIW you can build an AR for a hundred or two more and have a much more suitable rifle for the task. You can seriously get a plain jane AR for like $550, why spend $400 on an SKS?
>>
>>31772090
If you can find one of the rare ones in the $300-$400 range that hasn't been fucked with, yeah. It's a simple, rugged gun that uses a midpower cartage that is cheap and abundant.

If you can't find one, spend the extra $200 on an AR or a Wasr for a good combat rifle.

If you buy a lower receiver and a Delton parts kit you can put one together in less than an hour with no possibility on fucking something up dangerously as long as you're capable on putting roll pins into a hole. It's already barreled and headspaced, all you have to do is put the pieces into the lower receiver and then everything goes together like an erector set.

Recently got an Intratec Tec-9 to add to the collection that belonged to my Uncle who passed away some time ago, most of the good/expensive stuff he had was already sold to other family members (A Nickel Desert Eagle, Left-handed Elephant rifle in .378 Weatherby Magnum, a PSL), but there's still a couple of Norinco SKS's, a Cobray M11/9, and a Winchester 1894 in his safe that I might buy from my Aunt.
>>
>>31772486
You're missing the point. Anon is saying "if I can't get an AR that does AR things like tack-driving, then why pay more when you can get an SKS for cheaper" (I think)

Which I guess is a valid question. I haven't owned either of the raifus in question but it intrigues me because

>you can get 20-30 round mags that work well for the SKS now

>there is more aftermarket support for the SKS than ever

>reliability of the SKS is almost a legend by now

>cool milsurpness that fires a common caliber and supposedly hits 3-4 MOA on wolf ammo

Maybe in the $500 -- $600 price range SKS + trigger job + shit tons of ammo is the answer

Look, if you're an immense faggot go for it but there's no one worth a fuck who will tell you to ever get an SKS over and AR or an AK for what he wants it for.

AR's are the most commonplace rifle in the US. 5.56 is the most common ammo. Mags are like ten bucks. Unbelievably versatile. Change calibers, barrel lengths, applications in seconds and always upgradable. Parts are everywhere and cheap and the AR is just as reliable if not more.

So if he wants a bubba'd SKS because he doesn't have the discipline to save an extra $150 for a rifle worth the shit, whatever, enjoy your tapco aftermarket.
>>
>>31772511
Then please educate me. I am a little bit lost as to if the "just buy/build an AR!' is circlejerking or has valid improvement over what I can get used/milsurp. I do value accuracy to a degree, I will be working towards completing my marksman qualification started years ago which I had reached sharpshooter
>>
>>31772586
There is not a single thing that an SKS could possibly offer that an AR does not offer a better option of. If you want accuracy and don't want to spend money, get a cheap bolt action hunting rifle or a K31. But the AR can be upgraded as you see fit and the SKS is stuck as a shitty inbetween gun that bubba likes to retrofit to make seem like a salt rafle

The fact is if you're on a budget and looking for a semi-auto rifle worth a shit in today's world, you'll start bottom barrel with a basic bitch AR.

>Anyone got an update? I last heard that there was a small victory for gun owners in Europe.

The last news is kinda opposite of that. IMCO & the presidency found some common ground for text changes. In specific they were related to mag cap limits and weapon length requirements.

That said, none of this means anything until it gets through EU parliament & then through local national parliaments.

Considering how the text currently has huge leeway in allowing special measures for "sporting purposes", it's hard to know which way all of this will go. If the current texts are implemented harshly, then we're fucked. If they're interpreted as loosely as the text allows, than for most countries this will be a huge improvement in gun laws. That's highly unlikely of course.

Most recent. Doesn't have my Polish flare pistol in it, though. (AR is a LE6920, scattergat is a Sears "Ranger" AKA Stevens 5100)

Keep in mind I'm only 18, and my parents wouldn't allow me to have weapons in their house. (I respected that because, shit, it was a free fucking house. I wasn't about to complain. Of course I bought the AR the day I got back from BCT and AIT, though, before I moved out.)

Is all tul ammo bad or just 223? Or is 223 just extra bad? What's wrong with it anyway, just doesn't load right?
>>
>>31789435
.223 is watered down 5.56x45. Also, Tulammo is pretty shitty.
>>
>>31779053
I like nice comfy collections like these.
>>
>>31777074

Your guns are better and more effective for combat than your typical glock and at.

That m14 and MR73 are good to go. Great collection. Sure I'm biased as a wood lover myself... wait... did that sound gay?
>>
>>31770792
He's also only 19.
>>
>>31772582
Not either of the guys you're talking to. But a 400 or 500 dollar AR won't have the reliability, quality, or durability of a good one.

If you want a good AR you better spend 1,000 minimum on one.

I like wood (no homo) and would get an SKS now that I already have three ARs, that being said.

There's nothing wrong with an SKS, and even the SKS has its pros in certain areas when compared to a CHEAP AR.

Obviously a decent AR would pretty much beat the SKS in most things.

>>
>>31788303
Pretty awesome so far, has run brass and steel cased ammo just fine, shoots straight and disassembles great. The flip up sights are a plus too. Good fairly inexpensive AR.
>>
>>31789435
Tul ammo is shit but if you gun isn't shit it should do just fine. .223 is less hot of a load than .556. Don't buy a rifle in .223 unless you never plan on shooting .556 out of it.

Be easy /k/.
I have a Remington .308, some old 12 gauge and a lever 30-06 from my grandpa when he passed. But they're all kept at my grandmas along with my cousin's and brother's hand-me-down guns.
I also have a .357 S&W at the grandmas, but I can't *technically* own that for another year or so (stupid NC handgun laws).

Anyways, Savage 62F and Rossi 410 single shot.
>>
>>31792433
Also, as a quick QTDDTOT, good .22lr? I can't remember what brand we used when I was younger on the Marlin.
I bout 200rds of Rem "gold bullets", $9.99 a box, so I said fuck it. Apparently the Savage is very finicky with flat-top rounds, and those were cheap.
>>
>>31792468
>>31792433
so you have no reason to be a tripfag.
>>
>>31788848
That's very generous and I appreciate the offer. I might take you up on it. Do you have a throw away?
>>
>>31792468
Rem bullets tend to be shit with picky semi autos. I have a Savage Mk II that they seem to run fine in too. Shoot a few boxes through an AR-7 and they also ran fine. CCI is best though.

I figured they weren't top of the line. But i heard this specific model will literally chew flat top rounds like the Winchesters.
They feed pretty well so far. Only slight catching on the mag lip.
Thanks for the input.
>>
>>31793085
+1 on the CCIs for reliable function, but I do notice that they have some sort of coating on them that cakes up quick on actions.

SKS is shit by comparison to any AR that is not made of polymer pretty much without exception
>>
so basically sks a shit?
>>
I always wanted to post my collection but it is way too personally identifying and very few people I know in real life like guns. Feels bad man.
>>
>>31793471
True, when I fired them through my P-22 they gunked that pistol up fast. Never knew whether the pistol was just dirty, or was a shit cycler.
>probably both

>>
>>31779609
It murdered someone before it made it to my posession so it has a proven track record.

It jams if a finger makes contact with the slide while cycling. 25 auto is also sort of a joke round. I put around 300 rounds through it since I got it and only suffered one broken firing pin

So gentlemen.
I live in shit tier California. I'm a felon next year if I don't change my current arsenal. Just an AK with 10/30s and an XD9. 9mm is obviously plentiful, but 7.62x39 is becoming scarce around here and online ammo purchases are illegal next year too.
Now, my options are to sell/trade my WASR for a traditional stock rifle like a Mini 14 or an M1A. This would fix my issues with ammo supply, and I could use these weapons unrestricted.
The alternative is keep the AK and go with one of those shit tier grip wraps/chops and deal with the low ammo supply and buy new low cap mags.

I already have plans to leave California, but I have a bit of time left here while I do some in-state college through the GI Bill, just can't leave yet.
