It's not shoulder fired so its not a shotgun and the handle is over 26" so regardless of the barrel it will be over that length. I know smooth barred "firearms" with 14" barrels and and a birdshead grip are legal.

which direction does it shoot on impact? I cant figure out how you made a pipe shotgun that would fire forward upon being hit from the front

Hitting the front of the barrel will push the cartridge into the firing pin, since the rim of the cartridge is the only part that doesn't go in the barrel. Actually now that I think about it, if somethings going to set it off by hitting the front, and covering the muzzle, OP should probably add some holes near the front of the barrel or something so it doesn't blow up.

This is because a shotgun is defined by the ATF as a smooth barreled shoulder fired weapon. Because this is not a shoulder fired weapon, it is not a shotgun.

Unfortunately, the ATF measures overall length only in line with the bore, so the fact that the handle is over 26" is irrelevant.

I won't be able to make one today, unfortunately. I need to get a 26" pipe section for the barrel, find a place where I can film and test, and avoid dying when it blows up.

Currently there's no way to hold the barrel in place so it could slide back and fire prematurely. I was thinking a thin breakable stick that pins the barrel in place within the head of the warhammer. That way, it won't fall back under the weight of the barrel and fire prematurely. Of course, that would require drilling a hole in the barrel and installing a barrel obstruction which is dangerous and stupid. Then again, this whole project could be adequately summarized by "dangerous and stupid"

add lightweight handle, add safety spring, add breaching rounds. market as breaching tool to military, law enforcement, emt and fireman.
