My friend who joined the Marines back in April has been visiting us every once in a while for the past few weeks. His last visit he gave these me and said I didn't get them from him, but to save them. What are they? They can't be m955 because the black isn't painted on, it's like a part of the bullet itself.

Any ideas?

Black tip signifies AP correct?
>>
Can somebody please call the ATF, I think we got a felony going on here!
>>
>>31754739
Wait what? A felony for what??
>>
>>31754644
Looks like m855a1 or whatever it's called.

>implying the ATF cares about some special snowflake 5.56 ammo
kys retard
>>31754644
That's either M955 or just M855 painted with a black tip.
>>
>>31754742
Unlawful possession of armor piercing ammunition.
OP, could you be a good citizen and shoot your dog now? Makes things a little easier.
>>
>>31754769
AP ammo is legal to have as long as it's not a pistol caliber. Which 5.56 isn't. So you're fine, OP.
>>
>>31754644
>M855A1

OH SNAP! Hang on to that stuff. It's exceedingly rare in the wild.

Terminal performance and barrier penetration is supposedly optimal, however the peak pressure is near proof load and this stuff has been known to send guns to an early grave.
>>
Gr8 b8, but it's polymer tip
>>
>>31754797
I don't think that's M855A1. OP said his friend was in the Marines, and M855A1 is only used by the Army.

Explain this faggot
>>
>>31754829
so if I chop the stock off my durr rifle chambered in 7mm rem mag, 7mm rem mag becomes a pistol caliber too? Shit doesn't work like that.
>>
>>31754644

Air Force firearms instructor here, that's frangible ammo. Go ahead and scratch the projectile with your fingernail, it will come apart. Shit ammo, it wears barrels faster than M855/M855A1

Stop sending the ATF tips, frangible ammo isn't AP or illegal to own.
>>
>>31754847
>Air Force firearms instructor here,
Know how I know you have a small penis?
>>
>>31754864
Because a range officer sometime in your life yelled at you and hurt your feelings?
>>
>>31754829
A rifle with a short barrel. I dont see the point here.

5.56 is an intermediate rifle cartridge and there is no restrictions on munitions that don't contain explosives
>>
>>31754754
Sure looks like it. Basically these have a much better chance of going through steel plates (taliban ork armor) but will wear on the barrel / chamber for +p reasons. Should be copper and tungsten
>>
>>31754864
Your mom, dad, and sister told you?
>>
>>31754644
OMG OP!!!111!!!

THESE ARE ASSALT-PIECERING HI-COPACITY CLIPS USED BY WHITE SUPREMACIST ALT RIGHT DEATH SQUADS AGAINST ###BLM PROTESTERS###

>>
can anyone identify the guns in this vid? what are the ones that have the magazine on the side?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5Cqc6Beqm8
>>
>>31754821
Lolno. The Marines are the primary if not sole fielder of it.

The Army is too busy using the much better mk318 or mk262
>>
OP here, regardless of what it is, I have about 800 rounds of it (been getting a hundred or so rounds every visit), so what should I do with it?

If it's valuable should I sell it? Or keep it and hope it raises in value? Can I even legally sell it?
>>
>>31755087
It's crap. Frangable ammo goes for less than surplus M193. And not it isn't M855A1 like some of the dumb dumbs here claim.
>>
>>31755109
great for HD though if you live in a cardboard-gypsum house.
>>
>>31755047
So the Army has better ammunition and are still inferior marksman than Marines?

That's pretty sad actually.
>>
>>31755019
Britsh Sten

is that an unregistered MG and SBS?

>>
I'd keep it, it looks neat.
>>
>>31754829
A pistol chambered in a rifle caliber.
>>
>>31754644

I have some black tips that are Varmint ammo from winchester, but they don't come on strippers and are very easy to buy... So seems like you've got some heat seekers.

Take care op, if one goes off by accident in the winter it will come around and headshot you and make it look like a suicide.
>>
>>31755332
actually no, The ATF pretty much abandoned the "once a rifle always a rifle" shtick a while ago.
>>
>>31755047
from an article I saw in 2015, Marines are using old M855 supplemented by MK318, while the army uses m855a1.
>>
>>31756646
As far as I know they haven't.
The only exception they make is that a pistol can be freely converted back and forth as long as it was a pistol to begin with.

Real talk the ATF always gets BTFO in courts with these things. That's why they never charge people for it unless they're already definitely going to jail for other things.

As an example, they've charged exactly one person with creating an AOW by putting a grip on a pistol, and the charge was thrown out.

They really do use the threat of these vague non-technical interpretations of the law to keep people in line, when in reality any non-libland judge will take one look at the charges and go "This looks a lot like you guys are overstepping your authority" and drop charges.
>>
>>31754742
Unlawful possession of government property. If he stole these from the Marines (possible, shit goes "missing" all the time on ranges) then both him and you are guilty of multiple things. That it is AP ammo is irrelevant. It could be blanks and it'd still be illegal.
>>
>>31756816
It could be used brass and friend would have issues.
OP should keep his mouth shut when an enlisted friend says "you didn't get these from me", not sperg everything online.
