I just ordered a Swiss 1896/11 long rifle.

Anyone else have one of these? What do you think of yours?

I'm stoked to be getting one of my grail guns: I've got a K31, but it just doesn't do it for me like the long 1911s and 96/11s I've seen have.

Swiss gun thread too, I suppose.

No one?
>>
>>31750465
I've been looking into expanding my milsurp collection.

I'm very interested in the K31, and K1911. What's the average price on those?
>>
Its a shame no one still makes 7.5 swiss ord. for those really handsome revolvers of theirs.
>>
>>31750465
I love Switzerland, I want a Swiss rifle so bad.

Bump with my swissshit. I switched the handguard for a mismatched but slightly better fitting one and accidentally slow rust blued the bolt. I need to get into reloading so I can shoot it more.
>>
>>31750999
To add to this, I really would love a 96/11 as well
>and holy shit trips
>>
>>31750950
$350, minimum.

>>31751051
I'm excited as fuck for it. I love the elegance of those old long rifles.

They're so very elegant. I am a little intimidated by the bolt assembly, it's a littl more complicated than the K31.
I was really considering pulling the trigger on one of the armslist ones while they were on sale, but I'm a poor college student who had just bought a P64 and a bolt .22
Sometimes it's nice to actually shoot your guns, and 9x18 and .22 are much cheaper than 7.5x55.
>>
Bump, as I am a poor college student who loves K31s. Sadly I'm an out of state student in Mass :(
>>
>>31751066
Any recommendations on where to find k31s?
>>
>>31750465
I have one of the 1896s with the 12 round magazine. Too bad it's not compatible with 7.5 swiss.
>>
>>31750465
I do but I am at work. I hope the tread stays up another 7/8 hours.
But for now:
I have every single adopted itteration. All ofthem in a good condition and I cycle them when I go shooting.

I picked up a K11, apparently made during the last year of production 1933. Haven't fired it yet. Mechanically it's nice, finish is meh. Cocking handle was a little tarnished, but all the bolt and internals were super clean, rifling was immaculate.

I've also acquired two 480 round cases of surplus GP11 ammo.
>>
>>31750465
You looking to sell your k31?
>>
Where's a good place to get 7.5 Swiss online?
>>
>>31750465

Hi, I got one. AMA.

What did you pay for it? Did you research the year of production?
>>
>>31751104

>intimitaded by the bolt assembly

What?

the G96/11 bolt is magnificent and the easiest bolt do disassebmle there is, even easier than mauser bolts.

Its a piece of art, it looks like a kitchen machine when removed from the gun though

Gunbroker
>>
>>31752065
luckygunner and midwayusa both have 480 round cases of the cupronickel GP11 surplis. Luckygunner is cheaper for now.
>>
>>31750999
Swiss surplus ammo uses berdan primers which makes it a pain in the ass to reload but PPU 7.5x55 uses boxer primers which make it much easier to reload plus PPU ammo is generally known to but very good quality and affordable

Too bad it hasn't been in stock anywhere in years. The link you provided is out of stock, and the only thing remotely close is https://www.midwayusa.com/product/839223/prvi-partizan-reloading-brass-75mm-schmidt-rubin-75x55mm-swiss-bag-of-50 which is reloading brass that costs more than the non-reloadable GP11 surplus.

Well they bought the original machinery, back when the Munitionswerk Thun changed to RUAG Ammotec.

$299, for a hand select. How do you like yours?

>>31751343
Secondary market at this point: gunbroker, Armslist, ect.

>>31752008
No, it was my birthday gift when I turned 16. It's got sentimental value.
>>
>>31752232
I already have ~150 one fired brass PPU cases lying around.
>>
>>31753242
>All that brass I literally threw away years ago

Fuck
>>
I bought a "shooter" grade k11 carbine like a year ago for $240.
I originally wanted the k11 long rifle but I couldn't pass on the price, didn't even get had select and the wood looks fantastic, it has dings and the metal is blueing is warn but I love it. Even has a troop tag.
>>
>>31753330
Glad you like it. How's it shoot?

I'm hoping that having picked the hand select that I get a real gem of a rifle.

Sup?

Favorite one is by far the K31, followed by the 57 and then finally the 90.

The most boring one is the 90 even though it's the easiest to shoot and therefore I can score higher with it.

The worst in terms of accuracy is the 57, but that's just because the sights are different.
>>
>>31755122
what groups you getting with the 57?
>>
>>31755214
Groups? It's all over the place. From 0-100 I get an average of 65-70 points every time I shoot, occasionally I get over 80 but it's rare.

I think the barrel is busted or something. Probably used in full auto too many times.
>>
>>31755122
>Favorite one is by far the K31,

Of those three, or any Swiss service rifle? I've got one, but it's just so clunky and bloated to me. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it's the Ringo of my collection. The 96/11 and 1911 series is much thinner and feels a lot better in the hands for me.
>>
>>31755327
I can relate. Only swiss gun I have is the K31, I like it well enough but it's pretty fat.

>>31752078
I've only ever seen it and I'm only familiar with K31, so you'll have to forgive my ignorance.
>>
>>31755122
Shit, I just noticed the 57 has the bolt handle of the K31
>>
>>31755675
>Only swiss gun I have is the K31, I like it well enough but it's pretty fat.

Find a 1911 or before series rifle at a gun show and handle it if you can. Freaking night and day difference between the two in how they feel. The length of pull is supposed to be longer than on the K31 as well.
