Franklin Armory as well as Fostech have developed triggers that shoot a round when you pull the trigger as normal, and then let off a round when the trigger is reset on its' way forward.

The difference between the tw systems is that the Franklin doesn't have a trip lever for it to be timed when the bolt carrier goes back home--they use stronger buffer springs to get it to lock faster. The Fostech uses a trip lever (like where a full auto sear would be) that the bolt carrier hits when it's fully closed, and then releases the trigger. Only issue is that they use it's own proprietary bolt carrier, which has cutouts for two springs located on their spring pack (which I assume is to assist the trigger or trip lever), and they don't offer to cut out yours. It's also not compatible with 9MM carriers for this reason. Also the main reason why I'm looking for a single stage for the 9MM pistol build.

As you see, if you take away the cost of the GB, the G Rail on sale (very often, ~5-6 times a year on most holidays) is literally the same price as the ALG ($180). But since the G Rail isn't sold separately from the GB, then it is only $45 more ($225 vs $180 respectively).

Even using all sale prices, the G rail ($225) is only $72 more than the ALG ($153).

If you consider that ALG buyers need to purchase a Gas Block ($44.25, other GBs of similar quality costs ~$40), which brings the cost up $153 + $44.25 = $197. 25, then there's only a $27.75 difference between the price of the two rails.

Even at full price ALG+GB = $180+$59 = $239, the G Rail ($300) has only a $61 premium over ALG.

TLDR: A G Rail is at most $27.75 - $72 more than an ALG, not including the tools (torque wrench $25-$50 needed to install the G rail) vs $5 pipe for the ALG. They cost similarly. Yes, the G Rail may be considered aesthetically superior, but ALG has undoubtedly better ergonomics. Both are strong, but ALG may be slightly stronger due to tubular nature. Just user preference.

I have a 16" AR that I eventually want to SBR and a stripped lower I want to turn into an 18" rifle. Should I get a third stripped lower before the election just so I'll always have something to play with later? The LGS has a bunch of Aero lowers for $95, but if I do decide to build a third AR, I'd ideally like to either build it off a nice Mega or Rainier billet set and use the stripped I currently have for a KISS rifle, or I'll buy a complete Quarter Circle 10 PCC.

The alternative right now is to buy more Glock mags and 5.45/.308 ammo. I've got about 30 AR mags of 30 rounds or more already, though I might grab a few not-polymer ones just to have later.

USGI mags are always aluminum. There are shitty ones such as Triple-K/USA/Stoner/Promag/C-Products/National. Brownells ones are quite good. You can even get them with Magpul followers I believe.

Steel magazines in STANAG pattern tend to be shit. Even HK ones. Not worth the weight and certainly not worth the money.

You can google your heart's content to find all the C-Products horror stories you can handle.

Just like any other garbage company, you'll get lucky with C-Products. In manufacturing, you pay more for some brands over others because you don't want to get lucky; you want to get a working product every time.

The C-Products magazines I had were plagued with poor finishes and odd geometry. The paint on some was flaky or worse, sticky. Loading 30 rounds was really difficult. The feed lips were different from mag to mag, and some would stick in my receiver while others would drop. The magazine lock would hold them at different heights too, because the cutouts were uneven. I had 5. I didn't even bother selling them, I just smashed them and tossed them in the garbage.
