Whaaaaaaaaaat? It's gotta be just a grip issue or a matter of having a gun too small for your hands. Post a pic, we can probably help you.

>>
>>31747765
Hi-points are reliable, but it's your first gun. $150 won't get you much. If you save up another hundred you could get a used EAA Windicator if you're set on a revolver, or if you save 350+ you could get a nice older gun like one of the Ruger Six series or a Smith. Hi-Points aren't going to dry up anytime soon, even with an election panic, so you might as well just take the time to save for something you really want in a caliber you plan to keep.
>>
>>31747810
>>Cant even enjoy most movies with guns in them because when something is wrong i cant let it go

That's not a sin, that's just not being a pleb. I can forgive it if it's an over the top or non-serious movie to begin with, but if it's a serious movie then I expect better. For all the millions they spend making that shit you think they could get competent armorers/trainers on set.

I don't enjoy shooting unless it's at something moving and even then it's only barely.

I've sold more guns than I've bought in the last five years.

I hardly ever actually carry my carry piece.

When the dog barks and I get up to see what he's barking at, it's about a 50/50 chance I grab my axe instead of my pistol.

My AR is currently unzeroed and although I plan on zeroing it's currently in the "some day" time frame.
>>
>>31747818
I am so set on a revolver... my end goal is to get a GP100 in .357.

I don't want one soon because I'm afraid they'll be banned, I just want one to have for regular old robberies and... just to have a gun, dammit.

Is it not a good idea to get a cheap gun now and then trade up later? Will it be hard to find people that will do that? Like trade a used hipoint and $200 for a semi decent revolver?

If you're in that situation I do have a pro tip for making those 80lb toy crossbows at least kind of dangerous...

>Buy one of those cheap utility knives with the blades that snap off in sections
>Buy a bunch of really cheap plastic bolts
>Pull the head off several bolts
>Use a hacksaw to cut a slit in the head of the bolt for a quarter inch or so
>Snap off two of the sections together so it makes a sort of diamond--keep them attached
>Insert it in the slit you made, and superglue in place
>Sharpen the edge that's not sharp as best you can

Wouldn't be able to afford it even if I thought of that beforehand.

Had to go to take the FSC test and get a background check done, which along with the 9% tax, set me back another $79. My budget was $450 or less and all the fun stores in my area charge anywhere from $50 to $100 for an FFL transfer.

I'd say apply for a C&R license with the ATF but California changed the rules in such a way that it's a moot point and you still have to go through a regular dealer because common people don't have access to the background check system.

Like many others it would seem, my only confession is that I only own one fun. It's a very old 1945 last ditch type 99 carbine. The story behind it as I was told by my grand father was that his dad (My great grand father) was a fireman on some naval landing ship that they would send smaller landing craft out of. One night when he was sent out to put out fires and clean up the mess of a captured island, he was jumped by a japanese soldier and ended up with his first and only kill. He picked up his rifle and had it sent home where it's been passed down from his son, to his sons son, to me. I keep it wrapped up in the orignal G.I. cloth it was sent back home with, along with the papers and the bayonet. If this thread is still up tomarrow morning I could post a picture if anyone is interested. I don't even think my great grand dad himself could pry this tired body out of this bed.

I took the stock off mine and left it in a hot car for a few hours, then used a heat gun. The cosmoline will sweat right out of the wood and you can wipe it of. Rinse and repeat until it doesn't bubble out anymore.

>>31762083
It's not the cosmoline in the bore or the action that is the biggest issue. That shit seeps into all the wood and if you dont clean it out the whole stock will sweat cosmoline every time you shoot the gun.
>>
>>31746729
>>31757455
Moa is super simple but you need some basic geometry to get it. Also, since it is an angular measurment i find it best to ignore linear measurments for the time. So a full circle has 360 degrees, you can further divide up each degree into minutes (1/60 of a degree or 1/3600 of a circle)
So imagine a cone coming out of your muzzle, if your rifle shot 1 moa the cone would have an angle of 1/60th of a degree.

You can attach pretty much any linear measure to this and 1 moa will be 1/3600 of that unit.
I.e. (inches is the base unit) 100 yards is 3600 inchs, so that means one moa is 1 inch (3600/3600)
(Cm is base unit) 100 meters is 10,000 cm, so 1 moa would be something around 2.77cm (10,000/3600)
Mils are similiar. There is 2pi raidans in a complete circle. 1 mil is 1/1000 of a radian, so that gives us 6283* mils for a full circle.
Again we can use whatever linear measurement we want, 1 mil will be 1/1000 of the unit.
(Cm is base unit) 100m is 10,000cm, so 1mil would be 10cm. (10,000/1000)
(Inch is base unit) 100 yards is 3600 inchs, 1 mil would be 3.6in (3600/1000)

I forgot the actual formula to determine range with either, i think for mils its distance in meters=(objest size in cm/object size in mils)×1000

*Artillery uses 6400 mils for a complete circle, i think this is for more precision a d easier adjustments but it would be better to ask someone else.
Every scope i know of is based off the actual value of 6283 but id need to verify that. Also if you dont understand rads google it. People can do a much better explination than i can.
I think that explains what moa/mils are and how they work, if theres anything i couldve done better please let me.

Theres a lot of articles that explain how to use each in practice but i wasnt aiming for that. I just wanted to explain the concepts behind each.
