Don't get me wrong, it looks sexy as all hell, but it somehow looks too clean. Like, there's not enough customization possible for it, and what the manufacturer gives you is what your are stuck with.

We're not going to stop using 5.56 select-fire rifles from the AR-15 family until we literally have developed laser and battery technology to the point where man-portable laser rifles are a thing. It would cost billions upon billions of dollars to replace the rifles we have in service and a slightly more reliable design or better caliber is not the generational leap in effectiveness that justifies that kind of expenditure.

That being said I think space infantry maybe will be a thing before then and they'll have really specialized firearms that won't be at all similar to AR-15. In space, cold-welding is an issue, ammo getting too cold is an issue, heat dissipation is an issue, among various other things. Hence they won't be using a traditional (e.g., contemporary) design.
