>"You're with fatso again?"

>Tula rubbed the back of his head yawning, eyeballing Ritchie across the room getting his gear on.

"Can you not be an asshole for one night?"

>Morgan replied, lighting a cigarette, taking a drag from it and blowing smoke at her rifle's face.

>"'Fraid not. It's in my nature."

>He replied nonchalantly, snatching the cigarette from her mouth and taking a drag of his own, blowing it back in her face before jabbing the filter back into her lips.

"Right...So why /do/ you work for me, anyway?"

>She asked dismissively still getting her gear to sit right, checking it all over without looking at him.

>"You'd be happy about a woman touching you too if all you saw were sweaty red necks."

>He replied enigmatically, crossing his arms, clearly not the /only/ reason why, but it was a good enough answer.

"Whatever you say, princess."

>Morgan spoke, grabbing his wrist, nothing happening as she does it, the man just staring at her.

>"What, trying to hold hands?"

>A smirk curled over his lips.

"Fuck you."

>She squeezed harder, forcing him into rifle form, getting a small string of Russian swears, of which the only word she understood was "Cyka."

>Her forcefully snatching him up into a rifle when he was resistant could be described as 'unpleasant' for lack of a better term, like being forcefully stuffed into a box much too small for you without time to prepare.

>A low growl sounded from the rifle as she loaded him, chambering a round and popping his safety up into the safe position, coming over to Ritchie.

>He was talking to his rifle, wearing a simple chest rig and holding an FNC with a red dot settled neatly on top of it, attached using one of those screw-on rails for the top of the upper receiver.

>Ritchie stopped talking as his rifle did, turning to see Morgan and Tula standing nearby, his FNC, named Michelle, ultimately refused to speak when Tula was near by.

>She was petrified of him, much like the others.

>But she was strong willed enough to agree to function with him around as a bare minimum, which was all you could ask.

>Michelle would talk to Morgan, but...only if Tula was gone.

>She seemed like a nice girl, and she was happy to be used by Ritchie despite what she was actually being used -for-.

>The two of them were sentries for the property the Cocaine and Meth facility was on, they walked the woods all night checking key points for break-in, "Persuading" anyone that might have the idea of snooping that it wasn't worth it to be here.

>They'd shot at a pair of hunters only 3 nights before, but intentionally avoided hitting them, just to scare them off.

>No cops showed up afterward, mostly because the land they were hunting on was illegal for them to be on.

>Just the same as the drug prep they were doing on it.

>And most normal folks were too scared shitless of the drug runners out here to do anything about them, not that the cops would follow up anyway.

>There was a lot of stress surrounding the guys out here, though...they seemed to be agitated.

>Morgan had heard rumors the pair of cops that went missing from the local PD had gotten killed by a pair of sentries like them to the west at the Heroine rig.

>In fact everyone from that particular part of the woods, a good 15 miles away always seemed spooked about something.

>Something in the woods they said.

>Morgan didn't buy it, she was far too old to be scared of the dark.

>Besides, the moon was bright tonight, she could see where she was going with ease, even without her flashlight.

>They were probably some delusional fuckwits that were probably shooting up before their shifts anyway.

>But, she did have to admit, it made her curious.

"Hey Ritiche."

>She spoke lowly, the two of them stepping into the woods, leaves crunching under their footsteps as they walked.

>"What's up?" He replied in a similar tone.

"What's all this shit I'm hearing about something being out in the fucking woods over at the Heroine op? That just bullshit?"

>She sniffed a bit, finishing the cigarette she'd been smoking, stomping it out.

>"Uhh...I'll be honest...It don't feel right over there. I was there 'fore it got dark. Shit feels all kinds of fucked up over there, I don't know what it is. Boys over there talkin' bout something watching them from the woods or something. I dunno what the fuck they're on about there, but...it definitely ain't a good feelin' over there that's for damn sight."

>Ritchie replied, keeping Michelle held close to his shoulder.

>"Heh." Tula chuckled just a little bit, going quiet again right after.

>His rough almost scaly sounding voice practically splitting the air between the two.

"The fuck is funny?"

>Morgan replied, briskly.

>"Nothing at all. There is nothing to fret in the dark wilds, my child."

>Tula replied dryly with his faint Russian accent, she could tell he was wearing some kind of smug expression just by the way his voice sounded.

>But...there was something underlying in the way he talked, deep under there.

>It honestly disturbed her, she felt the hairs on her neck bristle just a little with the way the words came from him.

"The fuck..."

>She replied slowly, looking down at her rifle.

>"Fear is unbecoming on you, you know. Not unlike the weight you carry."

>Tula spoke again, his words still holding that menacing, heavy, dark tone.

>And the /way/ he was talking.

>It was like he wasn't the same 'person'.

"Quit fucking with me."

>She spoke sternly, frowning angrily.

>Concern was in his voice.

"Tula."

>She replied.

>"...But he hasn't said anything since he laughed at us."

>Ritchie replied, his tone sounding a little worried.

"...Shut the fuck up."

>Morgan replied, shaking her head some, refusing to believe she'd been talking to nothing.

>This was wrong.

>Whatever the fuck that was...That voice, that tone.

>That mannerism.

>That wasn't Tula.

>It sounded similar to him, like something was mocking him directly...if someone listened to the two voices on a tape recorder they wouldn't know the difference.

>She'd known this asshole for four months now.

>She knew what his voice sounded like.

>This was different...fucked up.

>Like something was digging into the back of her mind and curling it's fingers around her grey matter -- as if there were a passenger in her head.

>But it was gone now though, as if it were never there, the feeling making her shiver just a little bit, her mind racing trying to make sense out of it.

>"You alright...?" Ritchie spoke again, reaching out and touching Morgan on the shoulder, the sense of his touch snapping her out of her intense thought, shaking her head some.

"Yeah. Yeah I'm fine."

>She answered, sounding noticeably shaken, Tula uncharacteristically quiet.

>Usually he'd take a chance to dive right in on her for being awkward, or laugh at her.

>But he was silent.

>The two of them moved on, patrolling, Morgan taking the opportunity to light up another smoke to calm herself down.

>She huffed just a bit, blowing the smoke from her nose in a pair of uniform jet-streams, her hand still around the pistol grip of her rifle, her mind still lingering on that voice.

>Was it Tula..?

>Was it something else?

>She chewed on her cheek walking silently in thought, finally opening her mouth and talking again.

>Evidence of her pondering coming through as she spoke.

"Hey Ritichie. Do y'all do anything else out here? Like. More than drugs?"

>She didn't sound much like herself when she spoke, the question itself practically dripping "I'm a fucking cop."

>But Ritchie had gone too far with her around to consider her a cop, answering the question cautiously.

Or a Amnesty regged Fg 42, that has been through the wringer, and you have to reweld a lot of it to get it to work.

I've been considering getting a firearm (Registration and papers be damned) however, I only got a few months left before university letters so I can (hopefully) move out into the US and serve my time there before shipping out into deployment due to ROTC. Otherwise, I'd be damned with another four years here in a university full of Independista scum

Posted a tad late in the last thread so asking again.

I'm writing a story to help ease the pain of losing my fiancee. She had bought me an AK receiver for my birthday before she went, and it's my pride and joy. That being said I have two intros written up. The first would start off with her dying and the gun coming to life. The gun would resemble her, a relationship blooms, etc. Happy stuff. The other story would be that of a dying waffegeist. Essentially re-creating and re-imagining her last few weeks through a rifle.

Which of these stories would you like to see?

And shoutout to the person who posted the link to the Sullivan Ballou video. It did me good.

The CEO doesn't personally write your briefing notes. Not unless bad shit is going down.

I should not have taken the job. But I needed the money.

No need to spell out the email word-for-word, a lot of it was pure corporatese anyway. Told me I was assigned to some Third World backwater African country. A nasty authoritarian dictatorship, judging from the string of Great People's Revolutionary Democratic whateverthefuck in front of the name. Transliterated, the acronym spelled something rude in the local language.

Something major had gone down in the capital, according to Mr. Versailles, complete with a hi-res picture of the former Vice President's body staked to the lawn of the Presidential Palace. No information in or out, and what the report termed 'political turmoil' seeping through the cracks.

What a shocker.

It went without saying these days. Between the New Whiz Kids at State, and the fundamentalists coming out of Moscow, sub-Saharan Africa was a nightmare either waiting to happen, or unable to wake up. If it was guerrilla warfare leaking napalm and narco-terrorism all over everyone's shoes, or the UN doing thunder runs through the Congo chasing down the latest Randian enclave, it was being actively covered up and politely termed 'political turmoil.'

Versailles said that the Soviets were looking to get in on the action, whatever the action might be, and he didn't want them to be alone in capitalizing on the situation. He wanted Executive Action to have the first boots on the ground, and by boots, he meant my boots. Figures he'd throw me into a mess like this. You stabilize just one resource-rich non-aligned hell hole under budget, and they expect you to do it all the time.

I hit the news feed to see what the AP had on the situation. Rebel groups vying for power, national economic collapse, crime unchecked, 95% of UN aid vanishing into private pockets.

And me, going in headfirst with nothing but a sidearm, half a pack of bad smokes, and my brains.

Something that hasn't really been fully addressed is the un-aging nature of the giets. There's references in the intros of some of the story, but it only brushes it aside in backstory with previous owners.

What about a story that would focus on that? I mean, it's kinda hard to think because it would most cerartiantly be a tragedy, but shouldn't it be told?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYCW7i2OiKk

The story of a rifle, as it teaches nervous boy how to shoot
How it give him confidence as a young teen
How it sits lonely as he goes off to his future in college
How she warmly hugs him; being the now young man's welcome home gift from father to son
As she comforts him after another failure
How she realizes one night, while waiting with worry, that she has more than paternal feelings for him
How she happily swoons in his arms, as they rediscover something about each other despite having hundreds of hours on the range together
How the one time he had to defend himself with her, and how he never quite got over it
How she was there for him
How she would always be waiting at home for him, staring longingly out the window
How he grew older, but still gave her the warmest smile every morning she woke up next to him
How she always held lingering regrets; wondering if she was the reason he never had a steady relationship; never maried; never had kids
How she cried as she held his now wrinkled hands
How he still had that same, warm smile
How, after hearing her cry our her worries, her regrets, he just continued to smile
How he whispered to her that she was the most beautiful thing in his life, and that he never regretted a single thing about her since that first day he gripped that walnut stock
How all she can do as he's dying, is cry and smile back.
>>

Dave let out a heavy sigh. "Okay, since I can't cook us some breakfast, how about we go out and get something?"

"What, wanna go out to one of those little restaurants in the town? Because there's no IHOPs or Waffle Houses out here."

"Sure, why not?"

"I dunno. I never liked those sorts of places. It always feels like every fucker in there's watching you eat your food. Like you have to be on your best goddamn behavior."

"Chris, maybe you haven't noticed, but this world belongs to the normies. Maybe if you ate like them they wouldn't stare at you."

"Dave, maybe you haven't noticed, but I have my gun out and I am not totally averse to shooting you in the ass for that comment." Her stomach grumbled loudly. "You're lucky I'm hungry, though..."

She retreated to her bedroom for a few minutes, while Dave took the opportunity to change into a new pair of pants in the living room. When Chris reemerged, she was dressed in blue jeans and a loose jacket, her pistol likely concealed within. She had her long red hair up in a bun, allowing a clear view of her neck. The bruises were still there, but they were fading by degrees each day.

Here's hoping some hick dosent think Dave is a wife beater because of the bruses, but it could be funny watching her kick some redneck's ass for implying that he is.

"You look good," said Dave, snatching up the stationwagon's keys from the counter.

"I didn't ask."

"I know, but I'll say it anyway."

She rolled her eyes. "Come on, let's just find a place and get something to eat."

Outside, their shitty old motorized chariot awaited, smelling of cosmoline and cigarettes as usual. It protested a bit with some chugging when Dave tried to start it, but eventually it gave in and lurched to life.

Dave drove them around for a bit, looking for someplace suitable. The town only had a couple thousand people in it, and very few establishments to choose from, so before long he spotted a little cafe tucked into the entrance of an alley. He pulled the car around the back.

A bell tinkled as Dave opened the door for Chris. The place was small, but it had a few occupants inside. A couple eating together by the door. An old man reading the paper in a corner booth. A chubby waitress checking her phone.

The waitress looked up at their entrance and put down her phone, grabbing a notepad instead. She walked over to the pair as they seated themselves.

Well, in that case, h-here I go...
>mfw I'm very much pic related

M1A tried her best to focus on the television, ignoring the pacing AR-15 that walked between her and the screen.

Her patience grew thin as time went on however, having grown weary of seeing the assault rifle block the evening news at the most inopportune times.

M1A inhaled a breath to berate the young rifle. But before she could begin a socked foot nudged her shoulder, drawing her attention.

“Leave her be. She’s just nervous like the rest of us.”

Occupying the opposite end of the couch was 5906, Anon’s first handgun and firearm. Being a police trade-in she was always the strictest and more disciplined of the group, almost passing off as the mother figure of the firearms if not for her petite, early teen’s physique. Something the rest of the firearms were more than willing to point out for their own amusement.

M1A let out an exasperated sigh as AR-15 squeezed between the battle rifle and the handgun to peek out the window for the umpteenth time, scanning the driveway like a faithful puppy waiting for her master to return.

“Well, her climbing all over me isn't helping my nerves.” M1A grumbled mostly to herself, partially to the rifle practically on top of her.

AR-15 plopped down on the couch between the two firearms, the springs of the couch jostling M1A around.

“Well maybe if you weren't so big and heavy I wouldn't have to climb all over you.”

Frustration was quickly replaced by anger. M1A’s curvaceous physique, a result of her walnut stock, had the unfortunate side-effect of making her noticeably thicker than her slimmer, aluminum counterpart. That being said, she was never one to take such an insult lying down.

“What did you say?” M1A snarled as she closed what little distance there was between the two.

AR-15 couldn’t help but giggle. “You heard me.”

Ever the arrogant one she kept eye contact with M1A, unable to suppress a smug smirk.
>>
>>31740285
Her cocky demeanor didn’t last long however as
M1A’s expression softened, a strangely sweet smile on her face made AR-15 drop her guard ever so slightly.

It was all M1A needed as she threw herself onto the assault rifle, one hand pinning AR-15 down while the other reached for her jet black ponytail.

Quick to recover AR-15 grabbed a fistful of
M1A’s short auburn hair and pulled with all her strength, all the while desperately trying to wrestle the battle rifle off her.

“Fatass!”

“Slut!”

*tug*

“OW!”

5906 rolled her eyes as she flipped to the next page in her magazine, fully intent on ignoring the shouting and hair pulling occurring at her feet. As she brought her legs closer to her body to avoid being dragged into the melee her eyes stopped at an ad for ‘specialty’ ammunition. One novelty brand especially caught her eye.

“R.I.P rounds eh…?” she pondered to herself.

Unorthodox ammunition was a guilty pleasure of hers, the box of ARX rounds in the gun safe attesting to that.

As 5906 tried to figure out a way to ask Anon to buy the pricey gimmick ammo the telltale sound of a car pulling into the driveway caught the trio’s attention.

Almost like a sixth sense the two rifles stopped dead in their tracks, ears perked and eyes wide.

“They’re back!”

M1A and AR-15 leapt off the couch and raced down the stairs, colliding into walls and each other along the way.

5906 on the other hand merely stood up, set the magazine aside and strolled down the hall to the stair.

As the two rifles reached their finish line the wooden front door swung open with a bang, opening the path for a teenaged girl and a man, both bundled up to counter the winter chill outside now billowing into the house.
The shorter of the two strode in first, swinging her head back to cast off her hoodie and allowing her long blonde hair to finally flow freely.

“Christmas came early ladies,” she declared with a wide grin.
>>
>>31740306

With the two rifles following closely behind Hi-Power set a box of assorted ammunitions on the kitchen table. Right beside her, her owner set down several bags, some groceries, as well as an assortment of accessories and cleaning tools.

“For the record, this all counts as an early Christmas present,” Anon stated to all those present.

Despite the chuckles he received, Anon wasn’t entirely joking. With the holidays coming up he had spent a rather large sum of money on accessories and ammunition for the girls, something only capable with months of careful saving.

And that didn’t account for the cost of what he had originally intended on buying in the first place.

As the trio of guns clamored for attention from
their owner 5906 casually made her way down the stairs. She stopped halfway down, enjoying the familial scene on the ground floor.

The former police service pistol never denied reminiscing about her days on the force, when she protected her partner on multiple occasions, either through intimidation or lethal force. She took pride in her former career. Her duty was to protect and serve and she had done it well.

“Is this Federal? This isn’t the cheap shit?!”

“Hey! Who said you could start going through the ammo box?”

5906 chuckled to herself. Those days had long since passed. She had others to protect now.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs the chilly winter breeze suddenly subsided. In the corner of her eye 5906 saw the door close with a nearly inaudible click.

“I see you brought a new fellow with you,”
>>
>>31740315

In the commotion and excitement a lone figure went unnoticed, standing patiently to the side. In one gloved hand she held a slim cardboard box while the other removed a beanie off a young woman’s head, allowing an onyx black ponytail to flow down her shoulder.

All eyes turned to the newcomer. Anon squeezed between the guns surrounding him, standing next to the new member of the collection.

“Ladies, this is Howa 1500.”

As Howa removed her snow flecked coat the Western firearms were able to see how much the bolt action rifle stood apart from them. Despite having nowhere near the curves that
M1A boasted she still outmatched both AR-15 and the handguns by a fare margin, possessing impressively curvaceous hips and slender legs to match.

She also held a much more formal aura about her, compared to the much more laid-back weapons gawking at Howa. This was further reinforced when she gave a bow, keeping her back perfectly straight as she righted herself back up.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you all. “ Howa said with a graceful smile, “I’ll be in your care from now on.”

In the corner of her eye Howa noticed Anon extend a hand towards her. Quickly taking the hint she handed her coat and the box she was once confined in to her new owner with quiet ‘thank you’.

When she turned back to the other guns Howa realized that there was no response from them, at least not a desirable one, only a very awkward silence and some rather dumbfounded looks. Did she do something wrong? She admittedly entered unannounced but she had done her best to stay out of the way regardless.

Did she act too informal with Anon? All she did was hand over her coat and box, but was that too much for a newcomer? She had heard there were some guns that are rather overprotective of their owners but she had always passed such talk as playful teasing between the anxious unowned girls at the store and the more experienced guns waiting to be either re-sold or repaired.
>>
>>31740325

With the knot in her stomach growing and a slight tremble in her hands Howa turned to her new owner, worried that he would bare the same reaction. Strangely enough he was actually smiling. As if sensing her confusion he merely nodded back to the other firearms.

Having barely enough time to turn her head
Howa was suddenly face-to-face with both AR-15 and M1A, both squealing with excitement and practically jumping for joy. Unable to process the sudden change in mood Howa was left dumbstruck as the two rifles bombarded her with questions.

“What country are you from?”

“J-Japan…”

“What caliber are you?”

“Three-oh-eigh-“

“What length is your barrel?”

“Wait, wha-“

“That outfit’s so cute! Where’d you get the uniform?”

“I-I…well, uhh…”

As she casually made her way to her owner 5906 eyed the new gun down. Unlike the other girls who were dressed in casual attire consisting of sweaters, jeans and sweatpants,
Howa was wearing a white dress shirt, grey pleated skirt and stockings, likely to fend off the cold. She also wore a red scarf 5906 recognized belonged to Hi-Power. Upon closer inspection 5906 could make out a Kryptec pattern flowing around her skirt, likely a byproduct of her paint job in her gun form.

“Now that AR mentions it,” Anon had to lean down bit to hear 5906 whisper, “why IS she in a school uniform?”
>>
>>31740331

Anon shrugged as he hung Howa’s coat on the wall. “She came that way. I guess it’s a Japan thing.”

5906’s brow furrowed. She had been with Anon long enough to tell when he wasn’t telling the whole truth.

Regardless, she almost believed the half-baked excuse were it not for the sly, barely visible smirks Anon and Hi-Power gave one another.

5906 recognized that look, it was the same look they both had when Anon bought M1A the Archangel stock she refused to wear in public.

5906 shook her head as she recalled the day Anon had the poor battle rifle wear the stock for the first time. From the way the bodysuit clung and emphasized every curve on her body, the damn thing looked like it belonged in a sex dungeon.

She opened her mouth to call the two out. Before she could get the words out Hi-Power let out a sharp whistle that caught the attention of the two Western rifles, much to the relief of the very bewildered Howa.

Hi-Power dangled a small cardboard box labeled Magpul in her hand.

“Dontcha wanna see what we got you?”

>"Stop it you two, what brought on this civil war re-enactment this time?" you ask as the Southern girl, Anna, is just finishing loading her rifle.
>"Ah cain't stand that bitch any longer, always pickin' on me with no reason!" Anna says as the other girl, wearing a 1860s Union uniform, comes out holding a model 1861 Springfield.
>"What do you mean "with no reason" you whore? You are always clinging to Anon & trying to sneak into his bed at night!" the Union girl, named Haru, yells at Anna.
>"You're just pissed 'cause ah always beat ya to it" Anna replies as she tries to put a new percussion cap in without anyone seeing.
>"Wait, what? That's what the ruckus you two cause almost every night is about?" you ask as you grab a hold of the Richmond and take it away from her.
>"I-I have no idea what she's talking about, it's just not right for a rifle to be like that with her owner!" Haru says with panic in her voice.
>"You two do realise there's plenty of room for all of us in my bed?" you say as Anna starts reaching for her bayonet.
>Your words stop them in their tracks as they look at you with flustered faces. They look at each other and even though they don't say anything, it's clear they are discussing your proposal.
>"...if Anon says it's OK, I guess I'll have to allow her to sleep with you, but only on the condition that I'm there as well to make sure she doesn't force herself on to you", Haru says with a cute tsundere face.
>"Whut ya actually mean is ya actually want a threesome, don't ya?" Anna asks with a knowing expression. You expect Haru to go ballistic, but instead she just blushes.

>This isn't the first time you have seen them drink, but you are still surprised by Anna's ability to take hard liquor, Haru on the other hand is a bit different story & it doesn't take long before she's drunk. Now it's Anna's turn to get angry at Haru for being too clingy as you cut Haru off from drinking any more.
>"I'm so tired, don't you think it's time to go to bed Anon?" Haru asks.
>"What are you talking about, it's still light out here" you say as you worry about what Anna will do if this keeps on going any longer.

"What can I get for you?" asked the waitress in a sort of disinterested manner.

"Uh, scrambled eggs and hashbrowns for me I guess, and uh," he looked over to Chris, who was seating herself. "What do you want?"

"Waffles if you've got 'em." Chris turned her head to look out the window onto the street.

The waitress jotted it down on her notepad and went back into the kitchen to deliver the order, while Dave sat down opposite Chris.

"Something on your mind?" he asked.

"Huh? Oh, no. Nothing."

"You sure about that?"

"Yeah, I'm sure, and if I wasn't, I'm not about to talk about anything bothering me in a public place."

Dave shrugged and leaned back. "Whatever you say. Sorry."

Chris sighed heavily. "You don't need to be sorry. I appreciate the concern... just that now's not the time or place."

Chris turned her attention back to the window, watching the street. It was quite empty, save for some pedestrian traffic. She watched the people walking by the windows, not really thinking about it. Just watching for the sake of it.

Dave, on the other hand, was watching her. Normally she'd be a bit more boisterous, maybe poking fun at how someone looked. Normally, she would have probably made a comment about the waitress being a hamplanet as soon as she was out of earshot. But she hadn't been in such a mood for a while now. It was worrying him greatly.

Their musings were simultaneously interrupted when the waitress unceremoniously placed their respective meals on the table. "Can I get anything else for you today?"

"No, I think we'll be fine, thanks," said Dave. The waitress shrugged and took up her post behind the counter once more.

Dave took the ketchup bottle on the table and applied a liberal coating to the eggs and hashbrowns, and began to dig in. Chris did much the same to her little stack of waffles, pouring maple syrup until they were swimming in the stuff.

She hadn't been lying about being hungry. She practically inhaled her food. Rather noisily too, if the looks being shot her way by the other patrons were any indication. She leaned back in her chair, satisfied, as Dave finished up the last of his hashbrowns.

"Feeling better now?" he asked, still chewing.

"A little."

After quickly paying for the meal, they went back outside to the car together. Dave was about to open her door for her when she shot him a glare that made him rethink that idea.

Instead, he went back over to the driver's side and sat down, sticking the key in and attempting to start the car. It responded with chugging and whirring. He kept trying to start it.

"It's got gas in the tank, right?"

"Yeah, we were half full on the way over-"

"Get down!" Dave shouted, pulling Chris down out of sight.

She slapped his hands away. "It's just backfiring, goddammit, nobody's shooting at us!"

"Oh..." he looked around, his cheeks reddening. "Right. Sorry."

Chris just looked pissed that in the commotion he'd pulled her hair out of its bun. "Just... get us home, alright?"

"Right, right... home..." He put the car in gear, and what followed was a terrible grinding noise, followed by what sounded like an explosion under the hood. An engine piston punched straight through the metal, landing several feet away, and the interior of the car started filling up with fumes and smoke.

They piled out, coughing their lungs out.

Just read the PTR story, or what's done of it so far.

Not a huge fan of how much lore it goes into, but I am really enjoying the dynamics of the different rifles. In most other stories, all the rifles either like each other or fight with each other for small, arbitrary reasons. The motivations in this one are more fleshed out, thus the rifles seem more genuine in their character.

I'm looking foreword to anon getting that auto sear for Judith. But from the way you set it up, Rode better get some emotional loving too; god damn that made me feel. Especially the part about the SKS.

So here's my conundrum.

I've been thinking of a raifu story for a while. But to get the character of the rifle where I need it to be, when it eventually meets the protag, I'm going to have to drag her through some shit.

It's not pleasant, and it'll take a lot of posts before the story actually gets to the MC and raifu together, but I feel it's important to set up why the raifu is the way it is, and how important the things it says and does are.

So basically the story will be pretty emotionally negative for a while before it actually starts spinning it's wheels. My concern is that this will drive readers away or make it unpopular. Again, though, I feel it's important to show that the character actually HAS seen some shit, not just three lines of dialogue backstory.

Thoughts?

>We're not a nuclear family...

Dave stood up, still coughing, and looked over at the stationwagon. "Jesus Christ, we're lucky that old piece of shit didn't go up in flames or something-"

The vehicle promptly caught fire.

"Dave, do me a favor and SHUT THE FUCK UP."

Hours later...

After dealing with the fire department, the sheriff, and the insurance company, Dave and Chris finally made their way back to her apartment in a taxi. Which was little more than a minivan painted yellow and driven by a fellow from Punjab, who prattled on and on in Hindi to someone on the other end of cellphone.

As soon as they dismounted, the minivan sped off, squealing its tires and hitting a cat.

The sun was setting. Chris wasn't talking, and was just scowling at the floor as she trudged back into her apartment. Dave wasn't talking either, but mostly because he was afraid of what she might do. He didn't actually know whether or not the stationwagon had some sort of sentimental value to her, and he also didn't know if she blamed him for its spontaneous combustion.

She trudged back into her bedroom and slammed the door, leaving Dave alone in the living room. He decided to just sit down, watch TV and drink until he passed out.

I don't want to drop the backstory.

But will readers be able to enjoy it? Especially when it'll be mostly lows?

All readers are looking for a payoff, whatever that is. Some stories it's when it gets to the lewds, for others it's the reveal, or many other reasons. I don't want people to drop out because the carrot is so far away, and miles after fields of feels.

>All readers are looking for a payoff, whatever that is.

Some of the most popular anime, especially to western audiences, have more suffering than anything else. Madoka Magica is a very well known example, and right now, Re:Zero has a good size following. They're both pretty much designed to inflict pain on the audience. It's great.

I'm not a masochist at all either.

Unless the setting is REALLY out there, I can't see an absolute need to drop the backstory on us right away. If you're talking about worldbuilding, you can give a little bit to an overview before starting the story proper, then deal with individual backstories as appropriate.

Or just dive in with the backstory, I mean it is ultimately up to you.

I just don't see it as an immediate prerequisite to enjoying the story.

Hey, looks like you found a solution to my problems!

Serial 1: Fueled by Anger/Too close to Home edition, signing on

Water is beginning to pool on the floor of the pipework, your Merrells splashing on it continuously.

They wouldn't hear you no more, the sound of rain would be overwhelming.

Amelia has now seemingly mustered enough strength to move all by herself, but you still keep yourself by her in case she needs help.

The three of you come across a square chamber, roughly 1 meter by 1 meter, leading up to a slit in the gutter where water is rushing in.

None of you can pass through it though, unless Amelia turns back to weapon form, and so you and Bill just peeks out of it.

An APC is parked right across it, with some poor sod getting wet guarding the machine. You just look at it with contempt.

Lightning drew an angry line on the sky, illuminating the outside scenery.

As thunder began to follow suit, Bill has already aimed his USP at the wet soul and shot the guy right at the foot, timing the shot as it roared.

The man began to scream out, desperately grabbing his radio to call for help. Two men then came out of the APC and grabbed him in.

You two are now drenched in rainwater as you stepped down the storm drain slit.

>What was that for? You could have gotten us all killed!
You asked him, the annoyance seething though your teeth.

He does his best smug Bond impression at you again.
>"Just tried out if my aim is good with my other hand. That proved to be the case. Let's move along now, shall we?"

He then proceeds to step out into the other pipe that is connected to the chamber, now knee-deep in water.

You acknowledge that he is right, as you and Amelia followed suit.

You still had doubts for him though.

It seems that there is more to him than just a simple pilot who sought to get a job here.

He seemed to have other intentions.

You three then went on further in the pipework.

This can work, but you will need to drag out the prologue quite a bit to attach us to the character. I'm not sure what you have in mind, but there is one very important thing you almost always need to do when putting in any dark or sad parts into story. Bob Ross put it in very strong words.

"Gotta have opposites dark and light, light and dark in painting. It’s like in life. Gotta have a little sadness once in a while so you know when the good times come. I’m waiting on the good times now."

You need that contrast somewhere. Even if it's for a short moment, there has to be a glimpse of happiness. It makes the sadness that much more powerful. It makes the audience crave for the light at the end of the tunnel, and some stories arensonwell written that the audience forgot what the light looked like before they enter the tunnel, or they think they found the light, but it was just a dim lamp halfway through. And sometimes it's a motherfucking train.

The prologue you have in mind can be very powerful, but you need that contrast somewhere, and it is usually most effective if the start seems happy, but then you reach that tunnel. That dark, painfully long tunnel.
>>
Well, here I go. This is my first time writefagging as well as telling the story of that last morning. I'm starting on her last day just to get the depressing stuff out of the way. Feel free to critique.

>It's a cold and snowy morning.

>Much like any other before it.

>Your alarm clock is beeping incessantly in the dark, eliciting protestful groan

>You slam the top of it, finally putting an end to the beeping

>As you pull your arm back, you grab your phone, unlocking it in one swift motion.

>There's a message from your fiancee, Victoria. She says she knows the time is coming, and that she'd like to see you as soon as possible.

>Your throat begins to burn as the realization that last night's dream of the chemo being successful was just that. A dream.

>The doctors had caught it late. Nearly at stage four. It was a particularly aggressive form of leukemia. They said it had already entered stage four spread to most of her organ systems. They gave her two months at best to live.

>You silently tell yourself that today is the day. The day you finally made good on your word.

>You had been picking up overtime, extra shifts, and doing any side work you could find to help get extra cash for the perfect ring.

>You get dressed and head to your car, intentionally skipping breakfast to ensure you have as much time as possible to spend with her.

>You arrive at the jewelry store where you had already picked out a ring. A flawless half carat diamond with a white gold band.

>You pay the man and thank him for his assistance, even offering to pay extra in the future for cutting you a special deal on it after he learned of the circumstances.

>You then begin the hour long ride to her parent's house, where she had moved in so that they could help provide medical assistance if it was needed.

>Upon entering the driveway you notice that no cars are there, but there are several sets of tire marks in the snow.
>>
>>31743178
I've kept that in mind; its not entirely doom and gloom. But things keep getting worse for a while.

>The prologue you have in mind can be very powerful,

oh geeze, this makes me super nervous now

I feel it's not going to be super powerful, bu it's necessary to make a lot of hints later in the story to make sense. It's just in the prologue shitty things happen more often.
>>
>>31743188

>You begin to panic and call her mother. She picks up on the fourth ring, and sorrowfully says that Victoria was found unresponsive in her bed, barely clinging on to life.

>"I'm so sorry anon."

>After she hangs up, you recieve a text message from her father. "Room 327b"

>You run back to your car, flinging the door open and speeding down the road to the hospital, paying no heed to the dangers of the icy roads.

>After what seems like an eternity, you make it to the hospital. Running down the halls, you follow the signs to her room.

>Her parents are outside crying. A doctor walks in the room while two nurses follow at his heels, gurney in tow.

>You were too late

>You peer into the room through the window, and see a figure in the bed with a sheet covering them.

>All you can do is stagger back, lean against the far wall, slide down, and rest your head against your knees.

>Every fiber of your being is screaming in pain, but for some reason you are unable to cry.
>>

Wading in chest deep water, you and Amelia followed Bill closely. It seemed that following his lead would be your best bet for survival right now.

You have passed more of the chambers you have encountered earlier, each one seemingly echoing more and more of the voices of the troops above who are now looking for who they thought to be a sniper that attacked one of their comrades.

After a few minutes of traversing the water, Bill has now stopped, pointing up to a ladder that leads to a manhole cover. It seems to be a bad idea to just climb and pop out in the middle of the road considering that the Chinese forces are on high alert on what Bill did, but between that or drowning, it does seem to be the better option.

You decide to come up first, considering that Bill could better guard Amelia while you are up there due to his skill.

The manhole cover is heavy but you managed to slide it away, the rain peppering your face as you looked up.

A peek around shows that the Chinese are down the road, flashlights glowing in search of the non-existent sniper. You climbed out so as to help Amelia get up.

As Bill is climbing up, you hear the shrill whistle of a sentry you haven't seen earlier, and floodlights began to turn on and encroach toward your position.

In that moment, you froze.

Bill has to get out of there.

Your hands are still reaching down to him, seeking to pull him out, for him to escape.

You feel the grip of his USP on your hand as he held it up to you by the suppressor.

>"Just grab it! Grab it and run!"
>"Leave me now! Go!"

You don't know what other thoughts would have come to your mind in that moment, but you just did as what he has said and ran towards the tall bush, towing Amelia and the handgun along.

You peek out of it, seeing that the soldiers have now surrounded the opening, guns pointed in, dragging Bill out of it.

A tall man wearing a slightly different uniform as to the others went up to him. He seemed both amused and irritated.

>"Ah, we meet again Mr. Wilson."
You are surprised as to what you hear. A man with heavy Chinese features just spoke perfect English, without any noticeable accent.

>"So am I, Mr. Chang."
Bill nonchalantly responded, as if they we're associates who haven't seen each other for a while.

>"I didn't imagine that of all the places we meet again, it would be here. Business surely brings us around the world huh, Bill?"
>"Yeah, business."
>"So what brought you here? The big guys at the CIA sent you down here to do the dirty laundry again?"

Bill just stood there, seemingly awaiting for more to come out of his mouth.

>"Ah...I'll take that as a yes. And who are those two you had with you earlier?"

The moment he talked about that, it felt like brick just fell out of your ass.

They knew that there are two of you with him.

Even in the rain, you could see Bill put up a smug smile, putting up his hands in the "I don't know" gesture.

>"Well, too bad Bill. I do like agents who have a lot of loyalty, but I do also have no time to deal with this bullshit. See you around."

You look at him as he walks away.

He then pauses.

>"Oh, by the way, you forgot my calling card."

The sound of a pistol cracks through the rainstorm, lingering longer and louder that the thunder.

Bill stood still for a second before his legs gave way and he plops down on the wet pavement.

"Find those two, I need them alive."

The urge to run is now pushing you too hard and you gave in, towing Amelia along.

You know that they are closing in, fast.

>I slowly walk down the hall, my body in physical pain from sorrow but my mind too numb for it to register.

>I somehow manage to climb into my tiny car but can't seem to find it in me to turn the key. "If I sit here for long enough perhaps I might freeze" I think to myself. "I suppose that wouldn't be so bad".

>After an hour, the cold becomes too much. Besides, she wouldn't want my life to end just because hers did.

>I turn the key, and the engine turns over. Slowly at first but gradually building up. I lethargically put it into drive and begin my long drive home.

>I make it back to my humble little abode, and it's all I can do to simply climb the stairs of my porch. Somehow I make it though and upon entering my house I immediately went to my bed for a nap. I had hoped that it would do me good and that when I woke up it would all be a dream.

>This wasn't the case.

>I woke up to the sun setting through the window, casting a ray of light onto my face. I hesitantly looked to my right. The box with the ring in it still laid where I put it, and I knew that she was gone.

>My gaze immediately turned to the corner of my room, looking at the rifle that she had bought me. The only thing it needed now was a trigger and it would be complete.

>She initially bought me a receiver for my birthday, and I had purchased a kit for it soon after. We had planned on taking it to the range in spring. Just the two of us.

>Unfortunately life had other plans.

>I decided in the spur of the moment that I would dedicate this rifle to her, and lovingly engraved "Bиктopия" onto the right side of the handguard in very small print.

>This way, she would live on through this rifle.

It was then that I decided to spend the next day finding a new trigger for my Viktoria.

>And so, I went to sleep.
