Sharp, Eo, suicide or any one of the many briefs every month. I get it, without these monthly briefs I'll become racist, forget that I can't fuck a sleeping person, and kill myself, but fuck man. Why are they an hour long sometimes?

Biggest lie in the entire army, save for army wives vow of loyalty/not being sluts

I agree. I would never have done that. But I have been that Pissed Off at the USMC before, and I saved it because I thought it captured a feeling

Oh boy, every company has at least one of these designated fuckups....

Now if he was dragging a 249 like that he deserves a promotion on the spot, because fuck the 249.

USMC too. Went to Desert Shield/Desert Storm, spent 9 Months at sea, doing squares in the Ocean with 20 Helicopters and 4,000 Grunts... Only pull into a normal Port ONCE, on the fucking way back. 4 Beer Days...

That's actually pretty comfy

Much rather sleep in a hole in a desert for two weeks rather than do that again at knox.

promotion systems based on grinding XP and appeasing your superiors, instead of job performance and leadership ability.

>looking at you army.

PT test champs that scream Hooah like an idiot and spend all day at work making promotion points, get promoted quickly. Never learn to do their MOS and don't contribute to real work in the shop. Then once they are Sgt(p) or Ssg, suddenly being able to do commo work is not an issue. They are there to "lead soldiers" now.

SPC that show up, get all the shop's work done, and don't cause any trouble, remain SPC.

The fact that there is no camaraderie anymore. I wouldn't die for any of the dudes in my platoon because I know they wouldn't for me. Its become more about self service than selfless service.

Mass punishment. The platoon fuck up is always late and will always be late but the rest of us shouldn't have to get smoked for him. He's on profile anyways so its literally pointless.

Always got 220-240. had over 600 promotion points in an MOS that never went below 700. I trained all the new privates. privates always said I took care of them. I had WLC done already. been deployed.

the problem was i could never get to a promotion board. none of my supervisors would take me. always making up bullshit about why I wasn't ready. for 3 years I had no real set supervisor. it was always which ever NCO was handy. since I worked night shift alone.

I just noticed their unit patch. Looked up General Buchanon. He was at Fort Sam Houston. The picture is probably from Bolc. The captain you see there is probably a dentist and came in at that rank. She is either a Nurse or Med service person. Pic semi related

guess i was lucky. units I was in, weapons draw was always the last thing we did before heading out to do the thing. it was usually quick too. Most of the armorers and dick nuts accepting turn ins, would be cool about how clean a weapon was.
>>
>>31735826
Turning in rifles after deployment sucked. They intentionally kept refusing to take our rifles back saying they were still dirty until a few guys paid them $20. Then they started accepting the rest of ours, it's a fucking racket man.

I mean c'mon, we were Mechanics for fucks sake, there wasn't any residue to clean because we never fired the damn things.
>>
>>31735868
the one deployment I went on, weapons turn it was like this.

>rear D and Advanced party are set up in building at Green Ramp.
>the battalion gets off the airplane with just our rifles. while the rear D shitheads are unloading luggage from the plane.
>one of teh first sgts is yelling and screaming at everyone to go faster.
>we just walk up to one of the rear D people and hand it over. only thing checked is the serial.
>then we are run out to a bus.
>then bussed over to Simmons Army Airfield.
>the families are waiting inside our hangar.
>we form up and march in.
>a general speaks for a minute or two.
>the bn cmdr speaks for a minute or two.
>released for the 4 day weekend.
>soldiers needing a barracks room run over to the S4 guy and after a minute have signed for a room and get a key.
>every soldier is fucking gone from the hangar in 10 minutes
>we didn't see our weapons again till after the month of 4 day weekends, every weekend, and half day work days of reintegration classes and other.

I should have stayed in that Apache unit. aviation is chill as shit. even compared to my non deploying signal units and considering the huge workload aviation has when we are actually working.
>>
>>31736087
They had us turn in our rifles, then we did the whole family meet and all that shit, then we had to fucking come back a few days later and clean them it was gay as fuck.

The first deployment I was on was great though for weapons return.

>go on a MEU
>have all our rifles shipped out in connex boxes
>fuck around in the Mediterranean for 10months doing a bunch of shit on a boat with other Marines and the Navy
>go home
>rifles get shipped back in a connex box

Never touched my rifle the entire time on the boat lol
>>
>>31736120
we had some of those self recirculating solvent tubs to clean weapons in. when everyone was cleaning weapons.

it was nice to have a BN armorer that gave a damn. '

>field strip weapon
>throw it in the solvent.
>brush away the carbon
>wipe it dry
>oil
>turn in
>>
>>31736170
you lucky bastard.
>>
>>31736275
the dark secret of the army. almost every bn has at least one and the solvents. they just don't want to bother setting it up and the necessary paperwork.

I feel you, only ours wasn't that long. We hit a port on our way, and on our way out of 5th Fleet. We spent most of our time cruising laps, and getting bogus warning orders to go fight ISIS. Our helo company was on alert 60 a shit ton. But we didn't do anything. But hey, name of the game is presence, so we were displeased but not surprised.

pay isn't too terrible if you live on base with no rent, no power bill, no water bill, and know how to actually manage money.
