Planning on putting together a mech tech carbine in either 9 or .45 before fall proper hits. Already got most of the details worked out in my head and I'm pretty excited.
Any other /k/ommandos go this route for their pistol caliber carbine?
Stories, input on mech tech as a company, and I guess pistol caliber carbine general?

>PCC general
Sup. I don't know anything about much tech or building PCCs but have a bump.

its really not much of a build
they make the carbone upper in various configurations and specs to match pistol lowers including glock, 1911's, and the XD series.
its literally a clip on tie carbine upper

beautiful cz by the way

Neat! Never looked into those type of things but that's pretty badass. I saw a similar system for a 10mm colt delta elite at a gun show that I lusted after.
Thanks for the compliment, I want to get a suppressor for it, but I have the old thread pitch, so getting an adapter and filing for another tax stamp is kind of a pain in the ass. It's a fucking miracle I was even able to find the stock and 922 kit.

Why buy something this horrifically ugly when you can build an AR with a dedicated pistol mag lower?
>>31730720
I already have an AR that I love but Im looking for something with a different feel. Besides the configuration varies quite a bit depending on which you choose. I think the low profile plane jane shit looks pretty slick myself, but different strokes I guess
Also you're 10 seconds away from a pistol if you feel like switching it up whcih is pretty fucking cool

I love pcc bit I would never buy the mechtech. That shit is just hideous
...ok I have thought about it a lot though. I have a spare glock lower after my spectre build

thats the thing. If while i'm still hopping around in the next few weeks and find a PCC that suits all my needs ill go that way.
However, having a 2 for 1 setup like that just really appeals, and I really don't think they look bad at all with the proper setup

They are legit hideous though

I wish MechTech would make an upper for a hammer-fired gun that takes double-stack mags, I really am not personally fond of the Glock style of safe-action triggers, and the 1911 is too low capacity.

Depends on how they're set up, pic related I think would look ok with a black barrel, maybe make it a little shorter and pin a brake on it.
>>31730855
some of the configurations can be less than aesthetically pleasing but I think setups like this look pretty good

I'm with you on that one. Maybe build it around a sig or FN45?
Similar situation. I've recently been wanting to turn my 1911 into a carbine, without permanent modification. I also really don't wont anything modern looking, i was thinking something like a C96 Carbine, but for a 1911. Is there anything at all like this? How would i go about mounting a stock to my 1911?
Pic related, the handguard and stock are in the ideal configuration.

If you do a poly80 lower, you can get the whole thing shipped to your door.
But you're limited to 9mm.

I've got my glock mag lower... just waiting for a good deal on the 9mm upper. Figured I'd get the project going before Hillary fucks us over.

There really isn't anything like that.
That's also not a pistol conversion, the C96 was simply made in carbine variants, you couldn't really turn a regular pistol into a regular carbine, there's some differences.
What you could do is to register a nice 1911 as an SBR, have the grip cut for a shoulder stock, and then have a nice wooden holster/stock made for it.
As for putting a handguard on a 1911 with a long barrel, that's difficult for many reasons.
Both the Mauser and the 1911 operate on short-recoil, with the barrel reciprocating, the issue is, the Mauser has a big magazine(well) on it's frame where you can attach a handguard without it interfering with the barrel, the barrel on the Mauser also only goes straight backwards.
On the 1911, the barrel tilts, and there really isn't anywhere good to fasten handguards on the frame of the pistol, a 16" barrel on a 1911 would look extremely awkward and reliability seems questionable.
