define "most decorated"

Every unit was "most decorated", depending on the definition you're using
>>
>>31723830

by the literal definition of most decorated
>>
>>31723816

What the fuck is wrong with their faces
>>
>>31724063

Then probably the Soviet Army as a whole was the most decorated unit of WWII

Soviets awarded EVERY soldier a full rack of medal just for serving and seeing as they had the most soldiers out of all the armies, that would make them the most decorated.

>You fucks literally did nothing to win the war

Yeah, sending aid for the majority of the war sure didn't do anything. It's not like we were literally shoveling supplies down Britain's throat when they were getting Blitzkrieged to fuck and back.

Nah lets just focus on how Russia killed a lot of Nazi's because they just happened to be in the immediate vicinity of the war and got directly involved when blood spilled directly on their own land. Let's also ignore how despite us participating in the European front, we almost single-handedly won the Pacific front.

1) Russia and German had secret prearrangement to split up the countries in between. They knew they were going to fighting soon.
2) Russia reliance on Germans fighting two front war saved them.
3) Logistical and technical aid made a tremendous effect on Russian combat forces.
4) Both Germans and Russians were fighting a religious/ideological kill them all war, the Western front was not fought with the same ferocity.
The US and Commonwealth fought a two front war in the Pacific and in Europe, Russia had a single front war.

Medals are a cheap way to honor soldiers who do what the command structure wants. Some Soviet units got medals for pretty inane things.
Russia before the war was behind in technology and in military skills. The purges of the officers made many Russians officers unprofessional and unskilled. Anything to promote needed behavior is good.
>>
>>31724389
Yeah, right? Who the hell cares if that train station over in Düsseldorf is about to send a panzer division to the front? The Soviets fight those all the time and nothing bad ever happens when your enemy gets resupplied and reinforced.

It's not a meme, it's a fact. Early in the war a russian concript may have only been issued a blanket. They weren't even fed. That's why they were like a swarm of locusts stripping the countryside . There were attacks by up to five waves against german positions, and the last two waves had no issued weapons. That's why russian weapons are expected to function suchshitty conditions and work, the one you pick up off a dead comrade may be the only one you have. You can't really conceive what it was like, the Germans couldn't even believe it when the came up against it.

>As the men of the 442nd went deeper and deeper they became more hesitant, until reaching the point where they would not move from behind a tree or come out of a foxhole. However, this all changed in an instant. The men of Companies I and K of 3rd Battalion had their backs against the wall, but as each one saw another rise to attack, then another also rose. Then every Nisei charged the Germans screaming, and many screaming "Banzai!"[12]:83 Through gunfire, artillery shells, and fragments from trees, and Nisei going down one after another, they charged.

I can only imagine the level of confusion among the Germans when they experienced a Banzai charge

>Russia before the war was behind technologically
yes and no. Half of the reason WW1 kicked off was because Germany wanted to keep russia from becoming a super power and realized that they were getting a decent railway network in place. If that railway network was completed Russia would have the full resources of her vast tracts of land at her disposal and would quickly become an industrial juggernaught.

She wasn't leading the pack or anything but she wasn't as far back as people like to think. The perception of backwater comes from degradation caused by the braindrain of the communist revolution (kill all the farmers, yeah THAT'S not gonna have negative consequences down the line. How fucking DARE those farmers expect a living wage for providing the country with food!) and the general disrepair caused when any revolution kicks off.

nevermind the fact that they HAD factories and mines and modern industrial capacity they just didn't have ENOUGH because the Communist Party was so obsessed with reordering things they forgot how fucking good at paying the bills and planning ahead all the land lords were.

BS, actually. Most of SU awards were not only medals but also sufficient amount of money (same with confirmed kills of planes and tanks, btw). And because of that it, they were under very strict control of NKVD and party. Most clear vision of this you can get from looking into Soviet airforce. To receive confirmed kill into your combat score you needed much more info than in other countries. And yes, some of them were actually rationed.

The Communists hardly held back progress in Russia, a country that had only abolished fucking SERFDOM like 30 years prior to the revolution. The pace of progress in the country was controlled by the nobility, who basically owned everything as a wealthy middle-class never developed as fully in Russia as it did in the rest of Europe, and the nobility did not like progress.

>they forgot how fucking good at paying the bills and planning ahead all the land lords were.
Yes, top-down dictatorial control of an operation can maximize efficiency in many ways.

Except they couldn't, a Tiger can penetrate an IS-2 almost anywhere it hits.

>The t34's armor as barley better than a shermans its only redeeming factors were its mobility and ease of production.

The T-34's armor is actually inferior to a Sherman's. This is irrelevant because the armor of neither tank is likely to withstand an 88mm gun.

The same applies to the Tiger, an 85mm or 122mm are both going to penetrate it in most places. In the end you end up with a much larger tank with little improvement and several fundamental flaws.

If you've actually read anything about either of the two tanks you've just mentioned you'd know both tanks were excellent. In fact the Sherman was used by the US army, the Brits, the Red army, and the Wehrmacht (among others) and they all found the vehicle to be excellent. You seem to think that the Sherman's use of gasoline was in anyway a problem, but in practice the tanks were among the safest serving in any army, in fact the Germans made sure to set Shermans on fire so they'd be more difficult to recover and this often took many successful, penetrating hits to accomplish (mind you these tanks were abandoned). Also the M4A2 and M4A6 models used diesel.

That and you seem to believe that the Soviets "discovered" sloped armor even though it existed on tanks preceding the T-34. If anyone says that either the T-34 or Sherman were terrible designs they are, frankly, ignorant or lying.
