What kind of boot does /k/ wear?
>>
>>31712619

Do you want the kind of boots in your pic?
>>
Diehards. Good choice.
>>
>>31712651
I do and I am doing a check to see how much /k/ would bully me for my choice. I currently have some doc martens and am looking for something new after a few years.

Red wings are always cool, I've had some of their shoes and Boots for work, great company and awesome customer service.

Nowadays I wear Lalo or Lowa, you can call each company get a discount, especially Lalo.

>see how much /k/ would bully me for my choice

If you don't work in a trade, don't buy a pair of Red Wings. You'll look like a hipster faggot.

Unless that's what you're going for, in which case they'll match nicely with your spotless flannel jacket that is a size too small and your perfectly manicured beard.
>>
>>31712742
And *i* think less of *you* based on this post. Or at least I would, if this crocodile-handbag-enthusiast board weren't anonymous.

I just sucked another mans penis and Im still less of a faggot then you due to my superior taste in boots.

>>
>>31712673
I would bully you for wearing those boots. They're a fashion piece.

I wear Vasque Breeze for day to day and light hiking. Asolo TPS 520 for serious hiking and backpacking.
>>
>>31712719
Sounds good, thanks. They look great and I want to smell them.

The other is a pair of catipilar high tips with a steel toe and thinsulate along with some other goodies got it on sale for 90 bucks general price is 190 so I scoped them up

>>

Thorogood offers very similar quality boots at a lower price. I'd check them out.
>>
>>31712619
How do you get your legs that skinny?

Do you not walk anywhere?
>>
>>31712919
Here is a pic off my phone of the red wing the only issue was a separation of the polyurthane layers. That's after 1 summer in the fields , 1 winter at ups and almost a year dilivering appliances . I might be 21 but I've slung more dirt and done more physical shit then you're average numale. Though I doubt I can live up to my dad he worked in construction as an surveyed , then studied to be an electrician then studied to become an electrical engineer then became a project manager. He also can finish a bottle of rum like it's air
>>
>>31712724
+1 for Ariats, specifically workhogs. That is, if you want real boots and not some faggy hipster shit that. I spent $290 on some Redwings that barely made it a year before wearing the leather off the steel toe

not the op son. I guess that's one of the pitfalls of posting anonymously on a Mongolian throat singing board, theres just no way to tell who is who. Feel free to stay angry though. The indignant fury of Internet strangers is one of the only things left that amuses me. That, and crystal meth induced fever dreams.
>>
>>31712985
part of the issue is that redwing is outsourcing to china. Sure the Chinese can make you almost the same item for half the cost but focus on the almost part. Its not the same, they have been getting better with quality but it still doesn't beat American made goods.
>>
>>31712917

>>
>>31712917

>>
>>31712986
>>31712967

those got some wear anon. how'd you like them?
>>
>>31713033
they were okay, the only issue is sole separation between the grey and black layer nothing a little shoe glue cannot solve. Over all the shoe is good, it can work in a wide range of temps from 90 plus degree with 100 percent humidity under sprinklers moving lee land Cyprus trees or in the cold of winter in freezing sleet and slush delivering packages to peoples doors. Word of advice the redwing custom orthotics are worth the money..
>>
>>31713064
that's what gets me with my Docs. i have a pair and man are they not waterproof at all
>>
>>31713064
just remember socks are half the fight too I always wore good thick socks that were a cotton polyester blend so they could wick away sweet. You don't want fuzzy socks, but socks that are thick from layers of fabric. I assume that it helps with capillary action for wicking sweat away better.
>>
>>31713086
these are water proof hell they even float. and are positively buoyant until the water goes over the tops..

Honestly I just buy a $30 pair of walmart Brahma boots about every three months when the old pair wears out, usually the ones that are dark brown leather and with the high ankle guard.
This last time I splurged and bought a $60 pair of Survivor Timber boots.

Yeah they're cheap, but they work for working in an office and then occasionally hiking and hunting and innawoods-craft.

Straight fit jeans look great with pull on boots

Roper boots are GOAT. RW 1178s are a great example
>>

>>31716548

I actually really like how pants tucked in to regular pull on boots looks, but I won't let myself be seen as that massive of a sperglord, so I'll never buy a pair so I won't have to deal with the temptation.
>>
>>31716649
They're most often tucked in for function over fashion, keeping your pants dry/cleaner. not 24/7.

Solid construction. 'nuff said.

These are from Red Wing's workboot line. There is an exact model from the Heritage line that is being sold for 25% more. Just stick with the regular 1187s.

I wear these everywhere--at the ranch, at work, when going out, etc. This is pretty much the *only* workboot that you could dress up. I keep two pairs in rotation.

I highly advise that you go to a Red Wings store to get properly sized. Don't spend a shekel over $225 for these.

I'd post a fit pic myself, but I'm not much of a /fa/g.

You probably shouldn't care about how much /k/ will bully you because /k/ and most of 4chan has a problem with people dressing in a modern moderately "stylish" fashion. But they're a good looking boot and will go with just about any outfit that can work with jeans or chinos. And Redwings will last you a lifetime if you don't beat them up like actual working class people do (my welder/electrician friends kill theirs in a year or two even with care). I just wouldn't wear them for much more outdoorsing than casual camping because there's no reason to with modern materials so easily obtained.

Oil them when they look too matte and the leather won't break down. It's very high quality. If you want to save, check out Sierra Trading Post and sign up for their newsletter. You will get some deep discounts on factory seconds. Nobody I know ever had a problem with their seconds either. The worst you'll run into is misaligned stitching or something.

What did you expect? /k/ is worse than any hipster. Most were bullied in school, or at least were the "weird" unpopular kids. So they crafted an image for themselves and feverishly clung to the notion that they were somehow superior. Now normies are wearing the same style without being autists and your average /k/ user can't stand seeing what they might have been if they'd chosen to care about normie shit instead of feverishly masturbating to old war footage.

Which 5.11s would you recommend? I've been going back and forth between getting a pair of their 8" Coyotes and a pair of Danner's 8" Tanicus Coyote for a bit now.

My last pair of boots was a pair of Danner Marines that I got almost 3 years of daily work out of, so I'm kind of tempted to stick with Danner but I've heard 5.11 is really good too.

After nearly two years working as a carpenter, my Red Wings have seen better days. Is there a way I can restore the leather and lighten the up a little? I scrubbed them with soap and water last week but it didn't accomplish much.

Look up Cowtown boots. They even have 40 dollar hand made work boots but I can't attest to the quality.
>>

Seconding Thorogoods. Mechanic here, I had two pairs (maybe 3, I forget) of their tennis shoe-ish work shoes, then for the last 2 years had a pair of their boots. Very comfy from day one, and just look like regular work boots. USA made for around $140 if I remember right

A Dockers desert boot clone. Taken them hiking all across the country, use em as motorcycle boots, and I can give them a good cleaning with some saddle soap and lotion and wear them to a wedding.

Pic related, they don't look that nice now.

>didn't even blink at the $180 price tag
>mfw I could have had a free pair of red wings but now it's too late and I'll have to wait like 2-3 years for it again

I appreciate the link but these have been wet quite a bit in addition to being exposed to lots of dust and sawdust.

I have the RW mink oil and I used to use it often however I haven't in awhile. Will it soften the darker, hardened sections of leather?
>>
>>31725576

Beeswax leather Clark's Desert Mali. Basically a normal Desert Boot but taller.

They're amazing and have held up for years ofndaily wear though I remember them taking quite a long time to break in due to the stuffness of the leather
>>
>>31726124
Clean it off first with soapy water and a brush. Then apply mink oil to re-hydrate the leather. You know how licking your lips when they're chapped just makes it worse? The water draws out moisture when it evaporates. Oils will prevent that the way chapstick would. They will darken the leather though.

Any other boots similar to that style and price range? Looking for something comfy, stylish, and durable. MOABs don't always cut it.

Thorogoods here. Similar to OP's pic, but with redone soles. These boots are fuckin solid. Heavy with steal toe and shank, but still usable for hiking and whatever work you want. Operated in as well, just don't be a bitch and the weight isn't a huge issue.

Don't have them on at the moment because I'm in the office, but I wear these for work. The cream sole tends to hold oil from the floors and squeak. They are solid and comfy as fuck.

The works line up can go as low as 85 bucks retail to the actual red wing american made one were the lowest american made boot is $185 retail.
If you dont mind a break in process 4473 is a steel toe puncture resistance boot and is very comfy.

Ariat Rambles, bought at Bass Pro Shops but you can get them at Western stores, about $130ish without any discounts. Soles are comfy, idk what they are.

Funny thing is, mine are about, I don't know, five years old. They still look brand new with the exception of the bottom sole of my right boot coming apart. Just some glue on it and It'll be good as new. I've gone through some hard stuff with them
