Could you kill a grizzly with a katana?
>>31711135
Yes, but only if you teleport behind it first.
>>31711135
Yes. You'd be much better off with something made for stabbing than slicing though.
Probably.
>>31711135
If it was sedated or otherwise unable to attack, then yes. Otherwise, unless you are extremely lucky, no.
would an animal recognize a sword as some sort of huge fang or claw or something and think twice about attacking something possessing it?
>>31711202
that's actually a good question.
>>31711135
Does it bleed?
Yes: You can kill it.
No: You're shit out of luck.>>31711170
>>31711202
Not that I've ever seen.
You'd be better off stretching your arms out and making yourself look as large as possible.
Also to add to >>31711176
a spear would give you a much better chance of killing it.
>>31711135
Sure.
Could you kill it before it eats the sweetbread out of your guts? Probably not.
>>31711135
Does he, or does he not also possess a pick-e-nick basket? Very important distinction.
Fun reminder that bears won't kill you before they eat you
>>31711202
If you're about to get bit by a dog the best thing you can do is put something in your hand to make it bite whatever is in your hand. So I would assume a grizzly would see sword as being part of your body

Some former marine killed a bear with a log. Then he got a ticket for leaving food laying out overnight at his camp site. I think it was a black bear, but still.

You could shake that bear
>>31711176
Katanas are actually pretty good at both, but you do have a point.
The real question is, would a katana be better than a European sword in this situation, since there's no armor to worry about?
>>31712012
Well, from watching Nat Geo, bears do frontal attacks since nothing in its natural habitat can withstand it. So just point your katana/broadsword/spear at it and let the bear's own momentum do the work.
