Replaced the spring guide, oprod spring, piston, got a different scope mount.

next step is new extractor+spring

Maybe its the mags fault too, gonna get some of those 10 rounder aussie enfield mags

12 or 10 gauge 3.5" magnum if you might go goose shooting. Semi-automatic is good if you'll be shooting moving targets, but pumps are far cheaper and almost as fast. if you won't be shooting geese then a 20 gauge will work fine.

I'm trying to think of a shotgun that you shouldn't buy and I can't really find one. Giving money to turks is bad but the turkish shotguns aren't actually bad. norinco grizzly shotguns are a bit heavy for their size but they work and are fun. some shotguns are really expensive. everything else doesn't even have any mentionable downsides.

ithaca m37 is super cool because it ejects out the bottom. there are some clones that work in a similar way, including a recent run of stevens shotguns produced in china
>>
Is it better to get the newer Vz58 or are 858s fine? We're there any problems with early CZ858s?
>>
>>31707021
The odd time the early 858s would have the "gremlin" which caused issues with the bolt not resetting properly while firing, but they affected models have mostly been fixed, and it's easy enough to fix it yourself.
>>
>>31703109
Failure to feed could be a mag issue. Failure to eject is extractor.

Awhile ago someone recommended me a <$100 cash drawer type thing from Staples that I could use as a legal substitute for a more expensive safe to satisfy the restricted laws for storing a handgun or two.

i don't know what it is with pistols in canada

does anyone know why this is?
>>
>>31710305
Probably a combination of US export laws and Canadian bureaucracy regarding restricted guns.
>>
>>31710305
It's the fun tax dude.
Anything fun here is more expensive than it should be.
>>
>>31710340

>>
>>31710230
Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I actually have a dedicated means of firearms storage. Not because the RCMP told me to, but because I actually care about my personal belongings.

If you're completely destitute, then I won't blame you for cheaping out so hard. Besides, if you're willing to make that kind of substitution, chances are your pistol isn't worth much anyway.

But as soon as you have the money for it, I strongly encourage a better storage method.

>Prohibited firearms are dirt cheap

>but very few people actually have the proper licensing to own them
This is some carrot-dangling-on-a-stick bullshit going on here.
>>
>>31711489

I hear you, and as soon as I can afford it I'll be buying a full-sized safe for proper storage.

But right now I'm a poverty-mode student, and probably an idiot for even wanting to spend $250-350 on a Tokarev or Norinco 1911. If I do buy one though I don't want to add more than $100 on top of that, and if I can legally get away with less, then so much the better.
>>

>>
>>31711523
Check Canadian Tire & Costco for sales every now and then.

Sometimes you can find absurdly low prices for fairly decent gun cabinets.
>>
>>31710237

But if you don't want to trigger lock it, it has to be a SAFE, not a container or a cabinet.
>>
>>31711523
Buy any of the safes at crappy tire.
The keypad ones usually go for about $60 and sastify the requirements of a safe.
As a safe you are also allowed to store ammo in them with the gun and don;t need the trigger lock.
>>
>>31707924

Haven't shot one yet. Reviews seen mixed. The one I held seemed decent enough though.
>>
>>31711683

Nyet, /k/omrade. No trigger lock needed in a safe/vault.

>>31711745
Take the time and actually read the law.
If in a safe or designed room it does not need a trigger lock.
When in a cabinet or other similar container like a gun case it does need the trigger lock.
This is usually the second or third question on the RPAL test.

The Ontario court ruling was 6 metal sides and a lock is considered a safe.
>>
>>31711788

I thought it had to be marketed as a safe. Otherwise my piece of shit stack-on is a safe.
>>
>>31711773
They are sold and advertised as safes. Under the law they are counted as safes, as proven multiple times in case law.
There is no legal definition of a safe so anything that is advertised as and meets the CSA/UL requirements is a safe.
>>
>>31711788
i've heard that ontario said that - i wonder if those apply nationally

>>31711805
so i wonder if a gun cabinet is good enough then
>>
>>31711801
My friend actually had his home searched by the RCMP, and his Stack-On cabinet satisfied their arbitrary storage requirements.

I really don't feel like telling the whole story again because I've repeated it like a dozen times in past /k/anada threads, but the gist of it is that storage requirements aren't actually as rigorous as one would have you believe.
>>
>>31711821
Gun cabinets are sold as cabinets, usually for the storage of NRs. This means trigger lock.

>>
>>31711914

Probably Somalis.

I can't believe that in this country if someone fucking firebombs your house, they break your balls for firing WARNING SHOTS
>>
>>31711938
The minimum requirement is that they be stored separately from the firearms.

The only exception is when they're locked up. In this specific circumstance, firearms CAN be stored with ammunition. Some people lock them up for convenience's sake. "Separately from firearms" is too vague anyway.
>>
>>31711974
does a shelf beside a gun cabinet count as "separately"
>>
>>31711987

It's up to the particular cop who's in your house for some reason, probably. Always be polite anon.

>>
>>31711987

>>
>>31711878

The laws absolutely need clarifying.

They're expecting every gun owner to do the kind of research normally reserved for lawyers and law students. First you have to do statutory interpretation, then look for court cases just to make sure the courts are reading it the same way you are.

I got my mom for a reference, no mental shit, and all that jazz, so I should be good. I'm in the middle of the waiting period right now.

The waiting sucks but if it makes you feel better, guns are pretty boring once you shoot them a few times. The only fun part is hearing protection or rather the lack of wearing it. I highly recommend omitting earpro to get the full 'HUNTER'S EXPERIENCE' once you get your high powered rifle.

As long as you don't have a criminal record or a weapons prohibition you're good.

Avoid the term neo-nazi, it's used by breathless pinko journalists in hit pieces. Use the word nazi, or national socialist. Nazi doesn't have to follow NASDP policy, it just needs to be built on the same core principals and ideals. If it doesn't share those, it's not nazi. I have the same argument with neo-cons and neo-liberals. Other than that, keep up the good work.

If you look at the magazine in this rifle you'll notice a small silvery dot on it. This is the pin, it limits the magazine to a 5 round capacity instead of the original 30 round capacity. You can easily remove said pin, however it is illegal to do so.

You'll find Toronto in there I'm sure.

Start with the SKS for a starter firearm for sure.

DO NOT try to sneak them through. Canadian border patrol are assholes to coming in to Canada and they will try to fuck you.

Call up the RCMP and you can get some little permit to take along with you that says you're only moving them through. Shouldn't be an issue, they just want you to let them know what's going on before you get into the country.

>do you carry any extra paperwork around, take other precautions to avoid confusion of people or autoorities thinking you got a prohibited firearms?
No, people usually are stoked to see it at a range. Havent been stopped by cops with it but when i doif they ask if i have any firearms im literally gonna say yea just the ak in the back. of course after i hand them 3 forms of id and a range membership cause im not a criminal
>was it worth the money and the time in the end? (does finally getting legal AK wear off or are they great enough to be worth it on their own?)
its worth every cent, the feeling never wears off cause saying "I own an ak" never get old. but of course you have to deal with fags saying its not an ak cause its not russian or not in x39, ive had some say its not an ak cause its not full auto, and poor fags saying they arent worth getting cause wasr's are like 600$ not understanding that valmets are collector's guns, or people saying its illegal, and criminals will say theyre gonna "trunk and slump" you for it, just tell them they can try but itll only result in grievous bodily harm and death for those involved, it works for 100% of the time

besides sks's and vzs their the most reliable guns you can own. pretty much anything with an ak or ar18 action is top teir reliable. and 3200$ isnt ridiculous if you have 15000$ or more into guns. have you seen anything cadex puts outs? serious shooters spends thousands just on decent optics

>>
>>31722432

Most rifles out there are pretty damn reliable.
If you have better piece of mind knowing you have a AK, then good for you. But most ARs are pretty squared away, along with plenty other rifles out there.
The thing I dont care for on AKs is rock in mags, no last shot hold open, rightside charging handle, and inconvenient way to mount optics.
I don't think the x39 round is particularly ballistically sound either
>>
>>31722477
so you dont like the ak design? cause if you changed stuff to suit your tastes you wouldnt have an ak. also talk shit about x39 after you test its penetration power to the max, steel core x39 turns cover into concealment, doesn't matter of its brick concrete trees or a car engine
>>
>>31722341
Tavor is fine, the stock trigger is crap and it's prone to breaking if dropped though.
>>
>>31722588
apparently it shoots fuckloads of gas into your face, and apparently the trigger isn't just crap, it's so shitty that most people can't shoot the rifle accurately, and apparently the rifle is inherently inaccurate on its own, that's why it's being redesigned as the x-95
>>
>>31721613

Correct, not a fan. I think the VZ58 I up's it since it has hold open.
Also I didnt say x39 was a bad round. Just not ballistically the best. I'd take one in 5.45 but thats not even availible in Canada. I preffer <7mm ammo since it shoots flatter

A lot of them have already been fucked with. You could just buy one of those.

If you just want a long-stroke gun with rotating bolt, aren't there a few options coming?
>>
>>31722789
I was under the impression they had made x39 models, but I could be mistaken. As far as being collectible, they aren't made anymore as the company that made them was bought out. I think they recently became an independent company again, but it's unlikely that it will ever make rifles again, and even less likely they'd be allowed into Canada, even if they make them identical to the originals.
>>
>>31722664
this is what im talking about>>31722636 people will claim valmets are just "franken aks" or "slutted up to look like and but not ak". it has an ak bolt ak bolt carrier ak trigger group, just cause its got a few slight differences like the reciever and how the gas tube is held in doesnt make it anyless of an ak. but like i said serious collectors and shooters spend 10-100x more than the cost of a single valmet. i know someone with a scope that cost twice as much as my valmet, and its on an already 3000$ 338 lapua

I'd tend to agree with this, but I've heard horror stories of fudd-tastic ranges who only allow the use of break-action shotguns of a specific length on the skeet range. Dunno how prevalent this is country-wide however.

Nice, I will look into that. Anyone have cheaper semi-auto reccomendations?

>>31724609

Shit I'll check with my range. I have to take a 2h orientation before using the trap range, I'm sure that's covered.
>>
What 9mm pistol should I get next? I have a striker fire pistol Im not happy with. I want something that's;

>not striker fired
>preferably DA with a decocker

Yeah was thinking about it, I narrowed it down to

>cz75b

I can't decide which one to get

That Beretta is pure sex. Though it's still my dream to own a steel-frame Jericho 941 so I can act out my Cowman Beboop fantasies.

>cheaper semi-auto reccomendations

I like to check out Shotgunworld to hear what the forumgoers there think about things. The Remington V3 has been receiving good reviews.
The Mossberg 930 is cheap but decent enough.

Cabelas has a sale on the Franchi Affinity right now.
>>
>>31724680

I like my Beretta. Picked it up gently used for 599 with a few mags and a locking case.

I really liked the feel and look of the CZ SP01 as well.

Okay, but only because I love you.

Alright, so my friend used to live in a house that was rented out separately. He rented the lower floor, and an unrelated family rented the upper floor. For intents and purposes, they have the same address. There is no "Unit 1/2/A/B" because it's a genuine house, not an apartment or townhouse. This causes a great deal of confusion for mail, pizza delivery, and first-time visitors.

One of the people living upstairs is supposedly schizophrenic. One night, he was having schizo fits, and threatened to kill his dad. Obviously, 911 was called. Since the RCMP was involved in this domestic disturbance, they already knew ahead of time that there was a PAL holder living in this address, and there are restricted firearms registered to this address.

The RCMP arrived and were able to successfully subdue the schizophrenic individual upstairs. Then came the question, where the fuck are the firearms? They rushed as fast as they could because the combination of a violent person and the presence of firearms is not a very fun situation.

It was then that they learned of my friend living downstairs. They came knocking at his door at Oh-god o'clock in the morning, asking to see his firearms, to ensure that they were properly stored.

So my friend, while barely awake, directed the cops to the Stack-On cabinet that he bought for $99 at Canadian Tire. He showed that this was where his firearms, both restricted and non-restricted, were stored. The cops were satisfied with how he stored his firearms, and they both told each other to have a good night.

I usually only tell this story in /k/anada threads when someone asks if firearm lockers/cabinets are legally adequate for storage. I've been trying to cut down on it because I've repeated it way too many times, but some people really need the reassurance.

tl;dr someone has already been searched once before, it's good enough.

I sincerely apologize if anyone's sick of reading this story again.

One of the main selling points of binary explosives like Tannerite is that it literally cannot explode unless you mix the two components thoroughly.

I can't imagine it being classified as an explosive in its raw, unmixed form.

The main point against a semi-auto (or any tube-fed gun, really) is that the swing will change as the center of gravity moves further to the rear each time you fire.

Not a big deal unless you're trying to really be competitive, but that's the logic.

On the bright side, it absorbs some of the recoil, so you'll have an easier follow-up shot.

So there's an adapter for the VZ58 that you can buy, that allows you to use AR mags on the .223 version of the VZ58.

Any idea if this would work on the x39 version as well? There are x39 XCR pistol mags that are modeled after the AR magazines.
>>
>>31725009

Why not add it to the pastebin?
>>
>>31726719
It works fine with 2014+ CSA VZ's, dunno what year specifically they started making the receiver cutouts to accept these adapters. In any case they feed and function fine with the 7.62x39 XCR mags, although I personally can't stand the aesthetics.

it's a sound design, simple and solid, marrying the best aspects of an SKS, VZ and AK, and having fingerfucked it at a show for like an hour, I can attest to the fact that it's built like a soviet tractor

>it's never happening
right, because this is the first time a new firearm has been delayed in a Canadian market

the NR was granted, the order has been placed, the pictures of civilian models at the factory have been posted, now people are just waiting for Norcs to get around to filling what is a smaller and less important contract on their list.

>>
>>31727051

Broham, move literally anywhere. I used to
live just south of sactown. Call has a hilariously high cost of living. Make some phone calls and find a job that's open and just bounce. If you can afford a few mil sure rifles, you can afford to move to Oklahoma or some shit.
>>

Anybody doing BMQ right now? Just finished my first weekend at North Bay
>>
>>31727390

You sit down, go through the books page by page, talk about different actions, powders, things that should be common knowledge if you've spent any reasonable amount of time reading about guns here, handle a bunch of guns and then do exactly what was discussed and practiced in the class solo in front of the teacher.

Anyone who isn't a retard can pass, and even then. It's just about gun safety.

Keep ACTS and PROVE in mind and you'll be fine.

Army, artillery. I will join again when I'm not so fucked by school. Its very hard to do when in school even though they cater towards your civ life. My friends that stayed in ended up dropping out of school, which i thought was a poor investment so I quit.
Don't settle for doing something you don't want to do, the money isn't very good so if you are not enjoying it then you will not last very long.
Shooting C7 full auto was the best moment of my life.

If you join make sure you are the grey man for all of your training courses EXCEPT at the range. If staff notices you going above and beyond at the range, you may get extra ammo. Happened to me.

I'm reading conflicting answers everywhere I go. Can someone help me with this?

Is it required for a safe to be bolted down? Some places saying no as long as it's got everything locked in it while others are saying it is a requirement

>>
>>31728158

>>
>>31728092
I'd like to think that the delay that some people have with getting their PAL has something to do with an ever growing gun culture here in Canada. In all honesty though I'm sure it's just shotty management.
>>
>>31728432

A bit of both.
>>
>>31728432
It is true that more and more people here are getting interested in guns. And actually doing restricted too.

Nice to know that there may actually be a backlash if they try and make restricted firearm ownership even more strict

I'd love to be able to shoot handguns outside of a range

leaks, friends, intuition and logic.

you'll never get a complete list of the lists you're listed on, but it's not important. santa also keeps a watch list, you know
>>
>>31719487
the CFP wants to know where your restricteds are stored because of the registry. you just call them and tell them the address you'll be storing the guns. for guns that aren't registered it doesn't matter.

>>

I've been having a bit of issues with the fit of the xcr magazines in my 7.62x39 vz.58

The BHO doesn't work yet, but I also haven't fired it with the new magazines. Other people don't seem to have the same issue, there are youtube videos of people using this combination.

I'm concerned that XCR magazines will be (illegally) considered illegal by the RCMP soon, but I have CCFR legal defense insurance so I at least have backup.
