Pic related. With operations winding down (for the most parts), it appears that Western militaries are entering another phase of peace-time.

So would veterans of future wars still succumb to the GWOT sub-culture, or somehow move beyond it?

Well I don't wear a stupid hat. But I have a beard for 2 reasons.

1) I live in Wisconsin. Its not a hipster trend up here, men just grow beards
2) After you're forced to shave your face as a grown man for 4 years, you enjoy the freedom of being able to grow it out

I don't wear stupid T-shirts either, except on veterans day I sometimes wear my old unit PT shirt. If that bothers someone, I don't give a shit.
