the trunnion has always been steel, never plastic. the difference came with the locking piece that the trunnion fit into. in the G36, it's "high temperature polymer", the MG36, G36E and G36KV and later, it's also steel in order to support higher temperatures.

the BW hasn't bought new G36's since the 90's and they are all the old ones without any of the upgrades that HK sells to Spain or Portugal.

For all you haters, the G36 did something before it's time and that is the forward trigger bolt release. Basically, all you fags with you're BAD's in your AR's are just copying something that G36 incorporated into it's actual design.
