Hey /k/ommandos

Just got my first Mosin, I need some help. The bayonet is stuck (backwards) on the barrel. I can't get it off for the life of me. Trying to clean the cosmoline off and it's really not helping that the bayonet is on there. Any tips to get it off?

>inb4 pull it off

I tried, it's not fucking budging.
Also, Mosin general.

Are there any signs of welding?
If not then just pull it off, you pussy.
Seriously, use a little muscle. It isn't to break.
>>
>>31643326
Boil some water and place the end of the bayonet in it. I steel should expand just enough to come off with a mallet tap. Also try some penatranting oil or any anti seizing lubricant

Would wd40 work?

I know the issue is that there's cosmoline between the bayonet and the barrel which has sat there and solidified. I just have to cut through it. I'm thinking I might hit it with a burst of air pressure
>>
>>31643606
Pour boiling water on the end to loosen the cosmoline. Tape the end of a screwdrive (flat) and tap it off with an hammer

Tap it with a hammer

On armslist:
>Numbers matching 1942 mosin nagant 91/30 in good shape. Bore is clean with no pitting or fouling. Comes with a bayonet, cleaning kit and around 550 rounds of ammo. Most of it is surplus (light and heavy ball) but have a few tula rounds as well, 100 of them are on stripper clips.

Here's the catch:
>$500

>>31643326
Use a hacksaw and cut the barrel in half. That should release the tension on the bayonet and it'll slide right off.

Considering the price of 54r is around 50c (where I live), I'd say this is not a completely abhorrent offer, maybe try to get it down to 400 or something.

The only shitty part is the import cuck stamp

Thanks! I'll try that, but I don't have a hacksaw, will a dremel suffice?
>>
>>31643326
beat on the bayonet with a piece of wood
or a hammer
after you get it off stick it in a drawer or something since the serial on the bayonet doesnt match the one on your gun and it wasnt going to fit without modification anyways
>>
>>31645020
Also, caveat, you see how the bayonet mount has ridges that flare out further down as you go to the "rear" of the bayonet? Take a hammer and carefully yet firmly tap it to work it off
>>
>>31643326
stick the tip of the gun somewhere hella cold for an hour or so, this will shrink the metal possibly by enough for you to slide it off or coax it off with a little force
