I picked up a plastic Canteen, and it smells like ass. Can I just dump this into the dishwasher?

I just got some myself and I just cleaned them out with dish soap and water.

Never buy a used canteen. That shit is gross. Probably used as a dip bucket at some point.
bleach and warm water. swish it around let it set for a bit. than dump and rinse.

This is how we did it in the Army. Dish soap would probably work just as well. Shit aint rocket surgery.

Either of these
Just remember, if you use bleach make sure you don't drink it because you forgot it was in there
>be SOI instructor
>this sort of thing happens once every 3 or so cycles
Never understand yours or other people's stupidity

How we did it in Marines also.
From one dude to another, yuck. Don't do it. Marines (and I'm assuming army) spit dip into them and even use them as piss bottles. Just don't.

If it's metal, it ought to be able to be cleaned without a trace, right? I don't know about plastic, depends on how porous it is.
OP here. Its not a used bottle, but I isn't used. So, is the general recommendation to use bleach and water? Dish soap and water?

It's up to you homeboy. Personal preference.
When I first got married my wife set plates on the floor for the dog to eat. I told her that's nasty and I don't like it. She reasoned she cleaned it with dish soap, what's the big deal?
She wasn't wrong, but I just don't like it. Plastic is cheap. Like I said do what you want but there's a reason it smells like ass...
