What are some way to get into gun forging on a cheap budget? Any "corners" that can be cut? any jerry-rigging for tools?
Presumably you could cast the die out of some kind of concrete.
Other than that, I don't think you need all that many specialized tools, just general purpose blacksmithing shit.
>gun forging
Do you mean casting your own receivers?

You get what you pay for, dont cut corners when it comes to something you want to mechanically be at 100%, 100% of the time.

Concrete will explode because water inside of it expands when heated.

Bronze/brass.
It'll be heavier but I believe the "brastil" 1911 was successful.
Lost wax casting and sand casting is cheap enough. You can reuse the wax and sand too.
Lost wax casting or sand casting, hand fitting. Steel pipe for the barrel with /diy/ rifling.
Bronze, brass, aluminum and steel/iron are good for these methods of casting.
