No ads but damn I remember that during the 90's there was a store by me that sold a lot of surplus and imported guns. There was crates of gun long guns just stacked on their floor: $120 turkish mausers, $50 nuggets, .308 jungle enfields for $150, $100 chick sks's. $150 mas 56's. Bulgarian slr milled receiver ak's for $250(with stupid thumbhole stocks).

I wish I knew what I knew now and I would have bought crates of these guns.

bolt carrier geometry is shit
metallurgy is shit

furniture is shit

C39V2 is slightly better due to milled receiver, but still dubious

Century's imported guns (WASR, NPAP, etc.) are fine.
Their kit builds (AK63D) seem to be okay, seeing as they use predominately surplus parts.

>>
>>31630145
That's my AK pictured above yours. The Zhokov, I haven't shot it yet, literally just installed but I can tell you fully collapsed it's shorter than the wood was. Extended to the amount shown in the picture or farther is a better fit for me (I'm 6'2") but damn the extended part is ugly.
It's fixed the rattle because of the way the gas tube sits in the hand guard, unlike the wood, it mates up in a pretty solid manner.
Functionally, I think it's going to be perfect but you got to wonder why they made it fold over the safety unlike so many other stocks that fold in the other direction. So you can't really deactivate the safety to shoot it with the stock folded.
The wood was also walnut and really pretty so I have some mixed feels about the plastic too. I kind of miss the wood stock and grips appearance.
>>
>>31630313
Zhukov just seems kinda flimsy.
I did watch akou video on it though.

That's fine and it's ugly as shit too. If someone didn't want to buy it because it's ugly, I'd also understand.
I put it on a 100% American made Century gun though so there's no conflict with slavaboo dilution. It seems like a pretty solid stock though. Just ugly and not slav.

Personally, I've always though wire stocks were ugly as shit. On the other hand ones like these >>31630484 are pretty awesome looking and that dude clearly has good taste in general.

Was wanting to sight in my rpk this weekend. Anyone used the tapco sight tool?

For $15 bucks I'm hoping it'll do what it's advertised to do well and be able to withstand being in a daily use/range bag without getting damaged.

Also I've read that shooting on a bag, bipod, and from the shoulder all have different POI on the rpk.

I was thinking about sighting in with the bipod just because I don't plan on shooting this heavy bitch from the shoulder very often, but how much of a shift are we taking about from the shoulder when you're sighted for the bipod?

I've heard as much as 4 inches above point of aim. Can anyone clarify?

They're always closed and vetted circlejerks with choreographed press coverage. They don't even use the stadium because they know they can't fill it, it's always a ballroom or the like.

When Trump came we got the works. Seats packed, almost two hundred outside. Violent protesters, etc.

$700 is entry level to the AK market right now.
below that, I wouldn't trust.
"Building" an AR can be cheap, but you shouldn't cheap out. At least get a free-floated upper.
Both options put you in the same price range.
>>31632552
they can be pretty darn complex (see OSS), but the main thing is that most companies are relatively small time and the cost of R&D plus manufacture is not small. The PBS-1 is relatively complex when compared to other suppressor designs because of how it mounts, but Dead Air managed to keep the price competitive. companies often have to sell at high profit margins too because they don't sell a lot to begin with.
It's all part of an ouroboros clusterfuck that starts and ends with the NFA.

Mmm, yeah I saw that. I'm going to wait and confirm before I pester my lgs about one but I'm kinda genuinely excited.

A few months back while I was picking up a 1911 I started looking at suppressors and they had a few of the OSS "muzzle devices" and sleeves. Interesting system in theory but goofy as fuck in practice, since the "baffles" are a huge snag magnet muzzle fixture. I understand that it's supposed to eliminate backpressure issues and kill flash better but the guy straight up told me that the ONLY people buying them are stamp collectors with HK rifles that want the look and don't care about practicality.

I'm a nerd and love the design, but would never be able to rationalize owning one. Having worked with turbines before, it's super cool to see one in reverse, on the front of a firearm.
>this kills the backpressure
definitely one of the most interesting designs the firearms industry has seen in the past decade
most of the significant advances we see are applications of tech from other fields. optics and coatings are still making a lot of progress. most recently prismatic optics are becoming affordable for the common man

As far as transport I'd go with a Romanian drum pouch on a belt. Alternatively you could go with a shoulder bag. If you are in a real fight I'd just ditch it if I couldn't get cover to return it to my kit. Though it would be for my rpk so I'd be on a stationary position probably

The ATF only has paper records of ATF purchases. That's as far as they are able to go due to congress in 1986.
>>
>>31633266
Can they resist the temptation to scan those paper records into a searchable, cross-referential database?

I have my doubts.
>>
>>31633289
It's against what congress said.

There's a vice documentary about it too and several newspaper articles about it.

How do you think they lost so many class 3 records a couple years back.

They cannot legally digitize records according to some whiny leftist rag. I forget where I saw this, but apparently there's just some dude in an office with a bunch of paper records and they complained that the government should be able to index and hunt down gun owners on a whim with no oversight.

Never forget that they truly and genuinely hate you with every ounce of their fucking being; they hate what you represent. They want to see you riddled with bullets fired by their militarized police because you own guns so you're probably white and male and it's your turn.

They are on microfilm dumbass. They may as well be digital. Watch the fucking netflix documentary and realize when your gun shop closes down they know you, if the local cops don't search through the records as I've seen. It's a hurdle for those not in the know, but they will find the wholesaler, disturber, retailer, and maybe you.

For some reason I thought FFLs only had to keep the 4473 for something like 60 days. Guess not.

>A dealer must keep this on file at least 20 years, and is required to surrender the log to the ATF upon retirement from the firearms business. The ATF is allowed to inspect, as well as request a copy of, the Form 4473 from the dealer during the course of a criminal investigation.

How exactly is this not a database of firearm owners?

you could build a precise database of the "nails sticking out" from internet usage alone. don't assume the ATF is the only entity involved. It's a concern of foreign governments, even.
>>31633266
>>31633350
I don't believe for a second that there isn't an under-the-table database being built and maintained directly by the ATF.
>>31633353
also this
>>31633378
it is. the gov't needs a warrant to get into it, but the ATF automatically absorbs that 20yr log if the store closes. some FFLs don't destroy their old documents either, thinking it will cover their asses. it won't
>>
>>31633353
I know? That was my point, there might as well be a database if there isn't already. I know all about friendly ATF agent Chad showing up for an audit and running all the LGS 4473's through a scanner.

>>31633378
Now you're getting it.
>>
>>31633413
Database=Hackers. There is a reason the records are kept physical. If the ATF needs more people, then hire them. That shit should never be online.
>>
>>31633493
The records should not be centralized, digitized, or otherwise made searchable. They should be destroyed.

This shit is why I prefer buying private.
>>
>>31633493
even if it were offline, it becomes an extremely sensitive target by criticality (specifically in terms of information density). you can't just run away with several tons of paper records, but once it's digital the abuse becomes much easier and more tempting.

the government is curating those records, so getting an insider on the job would be infinitely easy.

This, not even about guns, we need a president who doesn't continue to drive a wedge between US and Russian relations. We get more and more at odds because our leaders continue to villainize the Russians. There is literally zero reason why two of the world's superpowers can't get along and have a decently stable relationship (or at least be more neutral and not be at odds) and of Hilary wins our relationship with Russia will go even further down the toilet. Under Bush we had the best relationship with Russia in nearly a century, and once Obama came into office it all crumbled. We need a leader who understands that THE COLD WAR IS OVER and that THE SOVIET UNION DIED OVER 20 YEARS AGO. I really don't understand why trade with Russia is such a bad thing in the Left's eyes.

Obviously Putin needs to lay off his dick waving too, but if we had a leader who approached the Russians with respect, without ill will, and without villainizing them our relationship with them would improve substantially.

The relationship between Russia and basically everyone of any democratic leaning is turning sour because Putin is behaving like an ass.

Trying to play nice with him in the hopes of buying "peace in our time"? I'll give you points for persistence, Chamberlain. But your track record ain't inspiring much confidence.

With Trump on the other hand dragging the executive-judicial powers split down into his Fritzl-brand "enhanced seduction techniques" cellar to violate one of the main foundations of a democratic state wasn't some kind of insinuation from the opponent or a big scandal that broke. No, it was something he outright promised.

Good luck with that one.

what mount is he packaging?

thanks. I love that setup. saved.
>>
>>31638681
Fairly certain it's a Regulate mount, but I'll have to check.
I'm not concerned with ultimate accuracy at this point, its the fact that every AK on armslist or in LGS' in my area are overpriced, as in, RAS47's for 900 and other shit, so finding this for 520 with a bakelite was pretty decent.

As long as it won't fall apart in 5k rounds like an I.O. I'm fine with it.
>>
>>31638714
if that's the case, then it might be worth buying for the mount alone. You're getting a $300 AK and EG bakes packaged with it.

US Palm mags have glued floorplates, so they can't be non-destructively disassembled for cleaning. They're also pretty bulky, so they don't fit well in most mag pouches/rigs.
There are plenty of good steel mags out there, just avoid Korean ones. Croat BHOs (~$12) work well for me, but don't fit every rifle.
Polish clears are brittle.
Circle 10 mags will last forever, but they're pricy. 7.62 bakes are also great, if you can get them.
