Maybe not dinosaurs, but to satisfy my inner Chuck Connors
>>
It's bullshit how movies show guys with m4 carbines running from t-rexes. I bet a full clip on full auto would annihilate a t-rex. Aim for the legs.

New to guns how is the kick on 45-70? I've heard some people say it's no worse than a 12 gauge but then you get the people saying it kicks like a mule
>>

stout, not uncomfortable, but you wouldn't want to shoot it all day either

which is a good thing because the ammo isn't cheap either

because 30-30! pic related, it'seems the awesome lever gun my grandfather used to take dear in LA when there were dear in LA.
>>
Help me justify buying a 45/70 when my range has no steel policy and 100 yard max.

Also no rifle hunting in NJ.

Is 45/70 inexpensive to reload?
>>
>>31626061

Eh, I think I'll pass on 5.56 vs Thing That Can Crush Cars.

I'll go for an M2 mounted on an MRAP with a cage.
>>
>>31626525
Well there is no steel ammo for .45/70 so that makes it pretty easy.
>>
>Implying 458 Socom isn't best Dino caliber
>>
>>31626544

It's a cartridge that does best at 200 and closer and you wouldn't be able to readily find steel anyways. It's not bad to reload for and it has the advantage of being a relatively fast-firing, hard-hitting platform that will survive all gun control. That said, for your case you might consider something milder.

This right here WILL kill a Trex.

Dinosaurs have vital internals too.

This would probably pass clean through and bust through ribs, both lungs, and the heart and exit the other side. It'd definitely bust through a leg bone and incapacitate.

People have killed two elk with one shot from standard grain and mid range charged 45-70s.

Indiana here. Get at our fucked up rules:
>no rifles allowed in rifle calibers.
>so, a rifle in .357mag or .460 S&W is allowed.
>pistols are allowed and pistols in rifle calibers are allowed.
>so, a level action in 30/30 is illegal, but a T/C in 308win is legal.

wierd
