Post aircraft that are doing something.

Lets make this thread like a Michael Bay movie.

I still find it hilarious the thermal pip goes RIGHT over the F-22 from the top aspect, only achieving a lock when its directly behind.
There is some thermal stealth fuckery going on in the F-22, any other plane would be a pure lock at that range.
>>31625802
Oh shit nigga
>>31626026
You'd find the same with most aircraft combinations when the target is presenting a non-rear aspect against a ground background.
The Raflale pilot is also in gun mode at that point so the pipper track isn't based solely on an IR detection it's based on IR / Radar / INS combo allowing the computer to predict the fall of the shot.

What is it dropping?

land mines.

Maybe in 1970, thermals have improved. The OSF of the Rafael has air targets out to 100km.
>Pipper track isn't based solely on an IR detection
Of course, but the rafel was in perfect attack position.
>>31626096
Freedom. But really, landmines.
Modern mines have a battery in them that is energized to "not explode"
when the battery dies, depending on the model 24 hours or 2 weeks or so, it explodes because it was a relay holding the arming circuit from exploding.
US mines. best mines.
mine puns.
mine your own business.
>>31626120
>but the rafel was in perfect attack position
In that first pass he isn't the F22 is not in line with the gun. Thats why you see him dip the nose to try and bring him into alignment, he over does it but then pulls up into perfect position - which is why the pipper comes to life.
Remember aircraft guns are still in fixed mounts, you need to place the enemy in just the right place.

he also did his cute little guns kill after HE called a Terminate/Knock It Off, which to anybody who is a military flier means "stop it, we're done, let's make sure we don't hit each other". he had a bubble bust.
so the Rafale actually didn't have a guns kill that day.
>>31626344
Seems like the F-22 was still engaged in combat maneuvering. If both pilots decided to continue with the game, it's still a relevant example.
>>31626435
He's not, and it's not. The terminate comes when he realizes he's fuel low and he's pointed nose low. At that time he calls the terminate, and the F-22, in accordance with the standard, worldwide-known terminate contract, ceases tactical maneuvering and continues his turn to deconflict flight paths. Then the Rafale guy calls a kill and posts it on Youtube.
tl;dr you're wrong. It's basically hitting your opponent after the bell and he's starting to walk into his corner with a weak hook and calling it a KO.

>>31628718
I'm guessing a Pinochet thing. His regime was pretty notorious for dropping people into the very southern Pacific from helicopters.
>>31628718
Part of Operation Frequent Wind in 1975.
Funny operation name, tragic events. When South Vietnam kicked the bucket, the US military did everything they could to rescue the people who had helped them, and would be killed for doing it.
The helicopter pilot flew out off of the carrier and bailed out, so the ship would have room for more refugees.

F3 has twice the range and loiter time, twice the acceleration, more speed much better radar and an increased A2A payload.
It turned a very successful strike aircraft into an excellent interceptor.

youtube
it's in french though
i don't speak french
there's no english at all in the video so it apparently doesn't capture radio comm, thus the speaking is probably him talking to his back-seater or the other way round as kill calls would be made on the radio in english
KIO or terminate would also be made on the radio in english, and the other relevant players would echo it
thus, i have no way of knowing if somebody actually made the knock it off call as anon claims. maybe a frogophone can provide some insight.
