I love it. Bolt is a little loose when open, but that's nothing. I bought a Memster's Mausers collectors grade one though.

My first rifle is an old M24/47. Time flew by when I first cleaned her up. Magnificent guns. Fun to shoot and they feel good to handle. Only trouble I have is price for ammunition. Might as well go ahead and get into reloading as soon as I'm out of college.
>>31618153
I know that feeling. I'm trying to find someone who will reload until I get the stuff to do it.

How do you keep your receiver in the white so that it doesn't form patina or surface rust? I usually handle it wearing rubber gloves and I oil it once every three weeks.
Are there any mausers chambered in 7.62x54r?
>>31619906
Other than an annual cleaning I've done nothing to them in the two years I've owned them. Just lucky I guess.
>>31619923
Aside from a few experimental models, no. Might be a custom sporter or two ordered before the Revolution somewhere in the depths of Mother Russia, but usually the caliber change went the other way.

I'm taking pics of the old stuff now, have a look at this super duper rare British 7.9 Tracer for their BESA tank MG.
It was in with a small box of '30s Turkish, which is identical aside from a very slight difference in the crimping and obviously headstamp.

Apparently, there's anecdote of these near blinding the operators who had to look through the MG scope when firing, the tracer activating sooner than usual.
Not 100% Mauser related but the .30-06 itself came from the 8x57 anyway so...

Found what I later identified as a Chilean Mauser at a pawn shop about two weeks ago. Condition looked alright except for a recoil pad added by a previous owner but no molestation other than that.
>tfw the same shop had a trashed Carcano carbine that had been bubbafucked and shot out to the point where it was practically smoothbore

Also great mausers, they look great.
Christ, I miss when 98k's were 200-300 dollars for a rc and 500-600 for a really nice one.
Nowa days rc's are at least 600+. I want one so bad, but have no idea where to get one cept for gunbroker. JG sales used to have czech refurbished german made k98s. Those are nice rifles, where can you find those?
one hot mauser
I've been wanting to acquire a Mexican mauser but they seem to be rare. When I did found one it was distastefully Bubba'd. I'd trade one of my mausers for one.
my grandfather took a mauser from a dead german soldier in ww2. Its not registered and its giving us a headache now that he is dead because this country is very strict on that stuff and my uncle went and married a cop.

Because of the bolt-action, the scope is very high up. So what should be cheek weld is chin weld.

Mausers are pretty much the nicest Milsurp you can get, although I'd put the Swiss K31 as a close contender
First time mauser owner. Recently picked up a Yugo M48. Is there any ammo online that i should be wary of? What would be a good brand to go with as far as hunting rounds? I hear Sellier and Bellot are great.

Not really bubba when the rifle came to you already sporterized. 8x57 must be bracing out of that short barrel.

>>31632453
>>31632693
Hey; since you've got both how much longer is the receiver ring on the Peruvian M1909 compared to the Gew.98? Is the bolt correspondingly shorter too?
>>31632776
The only change is it compared to a g98 is the longer ring (longer forward) and raised charger guide.
>>31632828
So the bolts are the same length? Can they interchange?
>>31632889
Across mausers? No. Across calibers? Usually, one noted exception is that Yugoslavian mausers, though in 8mm, have a frustratingly slightly shorter action and so require specific parts. Otherwise an 8m is an 8mm regarding bolt length. All 7mm m93/m95 actions are the same if I recall correctly.
>>31632939
i meant to say 8mm. Gotta love mobile.
>>31632939
I'm referring specifically to the M1909 Peruvian Mauser vs the standard-length M98 action of the Gew.98.

Gew.98s sell for around $450 for total-mismatched Turk-used examples in fair condition to $1000+ for all-matching examples in good condition. There isn't the same demand for Gew.98s as there is for Kar.98k because Wehraboos don't care about German history before their precious Furor, however examples from small manufacturers or rare years can hit $2K or more. Kar.98A are about the same.
Meine schöne Mauser.
