One time when I first started out with guns I was explaining gun safety to a friend and accidentally swept him with the barrel while doing it and he called me out on it. That was the last time I ever did that but now he still makes fun of me for it. I still feel retarded when I think about it.

>Almost everyone I play with is ex-military or hasguns
>One day some kitizen comes, wearing 1,000$ of full crye brand crye gear
>Turns out he's an actual autist
>Has 2 duffelbags filled with broken and destroyed airshit weapons, all in pieces and not even usable
>Sells some guy a REAL FUCKING RUSSIAN KOBRA SIGHT for 20$, but asks 400$ for a decrepit and not even usable CYMA AK body with shit RIS all over it
>Bothers me all day
>Guy constantly sweeps lines of people with his polarstar M249, points the barrel in my face at the end of the game, safety off, finger on trigger
>Ref tells him to quit before I blow a fuse
>Talk to the guy with a brand new Kobra sight, ask to buy for 40
>nah.jpg
>Turns out he worked there
>Talk to him about the retard
>Apparently during a match he asked for a frag to dislodge some people
>Gets handed a Thunderbee, an explosive C02 grenade designed to make a big bang
>Autist gets a grin on his face
>Other guy is suppressing enemies in front
>Autist shoves grenade down guy's shirt and plate carrier
Little did he know, the guy put a coin in the bottom to make the explosion more violent.
>Guy screams and convulses, the thing falls out and detonates on the ground
>Almost literally kills autist
>Autist is never allowed to have grenades again
>Autist isn't permanently kicked off of field because he comes every weekend and spends tons of money, from his mommy, and is a total failure
>This fucker now bothers me every time I go to this one field and won't leave me alone
Fucking kill me, this guy makes me want to quit something I actually like.

Pic related, it's an image of the grenade I found.

Back in the 1990s, had a friend I'll call "Slug" who shot his TV -- Twice

Incident #1
>Be Slug
>Advancing magazine of Calico M-100
>*cock* *click* *cock* *click* ...
>*cock* *BANG!"

Hits the edge of the TV (old tube tv) and kills all but the blue color gun. Gratz Slug, you have a high-tech B&W TV.

Incident #2
>Be Slug
>fiddling with .22 derringer while watching Cowboy movie
>*BANG!*
>Ooops forgot derringers don't have safeties

Entrance hole in plastic bezel, exit in wooden cabinet

Incident #3
>Be Slug
>obnoxious commercial comes up
>calmly picks up Desert Eagle .44 Magnum from coffee table
>aims at TV, clicks of safety
>Other guy with us: "I'd laugh my ass off if that thing was loaded"
>Slug: "Its not loaded, see?"
>racks slide, .44 Magnum cartridge ejects out

MFW Slug almost kills his TV for good

>In NJ, so at one of like only 3 public indoor ranges in the entire state
>Range also does rentals and is only 30 minutes away from NYC
>People that come in to shoot are either Chinese tourists/international students, black people from Paterson/Newark, curious turbolibs from the city who want to see what the fuss is about, or fratbruhs from local state colleges
>Like every range, there are big ass safety warnings all over the range, with "NO UNCASED FIREARMS OUTSIDE OF THE PORST AT ANY GIVEN TIME" plastered in each port
>Be me, waiting at the entrance of the 25 yard range for an RSO to assign me to Port 1
>Port 2 is occupied by dudebros from Rutgers shooting a rented Sig
>Guy shoots last round and turns to his friends
>"Hey we're done with this. Let me get the Glock from the rental counter."
>Dudebro proceeds to walk out of his port with the (locked back) Sig in his right hand, muzzle sweeping Ports 3-9
>Taps the RSO with the Sig and says, "Hey man, we want to shoot a Glock"

one time i was watching my dad fixing his bren gun that he just finished welding back together (he bought it in 3 pieces), and he was cycling it with live rounds in our kitchen. I'm right next to him cleaning the Walter. it fired without him pulling the trigger and blew a hole in the wall. he turns to me, both of our ears ringing, "ever taught you how to use fixall?" Thankfully it was resting on its bipod with the barrel pointing fairly up so the bullet would have gone though the wall, over the town and into the feilds landing peacefully on a Mexican feild workers head.

Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure. The team goes out on a RHIB to conduct boardings of suspected traffickers or pirates and the like. Basically that is as tacticool as you can get being in the surface Navy.

>>31623856
CG division is made up of Fire Controlman (that's me) and Gunner's Mates. I'm on a DDG, so we're responsible for the 5" gun, CIWS mounts, 25mm guns, all crew served weapons (240b, M2HB), and small arms (M16, M4, M9, M500)

We're one of the hardest working topsider divisions on the ship, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you think just being around guns will make your day better (protip, it won't, the excitement wears off really fucking quickly) If you want to be involved in the tactical side of the ship be an FC but pick something to do with missiles or fire control radar (i.e. SPY or FCS tech) those guys don't do dick.

>Asks to see my glorious plastic shooter

>Kid asks where safety is
>Realize kid's gun is broken, muzzle brake snapped off, front sight post hanging by tape, and stock hanging open on the back looking half smashed
>Bolt is constantly open revealing hopup, kid doesn't know how to close AR bolt
>Asks if I'm an actual communist due to Gorka suit/ chest rig and helmet
>Guy keeps calling me a communist as if it's an insult
>Gets to the point where he's just an asshole, his friend as well
>Everyone else in good humor, even have a mock knife fight later, great day excepting these two
>Go out next match, with one goal
>Roast this fuck
>Fort match, both teams in forts, semiauto only

He and his punk-ass friend with a shitty Israeli AK model left shortly after. Apparently because it was "hot"

More a story of a shitty gun than safety:
So it was new years, and after having only a few shots of whiskey, I decided I had to celebrate 'murica.
I went outside to my backyard with a .22 ruger revolver and cowboy fanned it while safely shooting it into the air.
Next thing I know, my gloves got caught between the hammer of the stupid gun. I couldn't pull it out. So I had to bring the gun down for better leverage and after a bit of pulling, I got the glove out.
BUT THE PIECE OF SHIT gun went off! Apparently the round went into my neighbor's house. The faggot bitched me out and called the cops on me.
No one got hurt and it was only a .22, he totally blew this situation out of proportions.
On top of the small .22 pin hole of property damage, I'm also being charged with discharge of a firearm within city limits. Pure Bullshit.

tl;dr ruger revolvers are shit quality and people over react way too much over .22lr

It also depends on the mum's knowledge of the guns as well. If she knew about them and where they were put then I imagine the fuzz would've gone hard on her rather than anon. Luckily from what anon said, she didn't really know, so generally it's equally their faults - as for how bad their fault was, I don't know.

I hate ND shaming.

NDs come with the territory of public gun ownership, just like ADs.

Car accidents come with the territory of owning cars.

Murphys law trumps whatever bullshit you believe about gun safety.

Shaming people that have had NDs or ADs will NOT do anything to protect your second amendment rights by the way. Anti guns don't care.

People that have never been so poor they needed to hunt for food or so sheltered they've never had to defend themselves will NEVER understand why public gun ownership is a great thing no matter how many safety classes you force people through and they will NEVER be OK with it.

a majority of ND's, at least on here goes like this:

>dry fire practicing at home
>tired/high/drunk/stupid/lazy
>magazine is loaded or through bad habits, a round is chambered and forgotten
>pull trigger
>ND

Yea, no. Unless it's something mechanical, it's you who pulled that trigger. You compare it to driving? Outside of mechanical issues in the car, you also get environmental effects that are out of your hands, such as another car causing you to get into an accident, wet roads, or a pothole, etc etc.
But with a gun, you really have no outside forces that somehow makes you skip safety checks and you just pulling the trigger in a non-firing environment.

Well, self control is a lie anyways.

You had no choice about when, where, and who you were going to be born as. Had no choice about going into puberty. If you get a receding hairline and don't want to go bald, what the fuck are you gonna do? Control your self? Possession and subconscious actions we can't control have been known about for MILLENIA.

So go ahead and keep living the lie if it makes you feel safe.

The truth is there's very litte in our day to day lives we can control.

Its the human condition. Gonna tell someone with Parkinson's to control themselves? All humanity is infected with diseases we have no control over, or am I wrong?

We are also like cars. Cars can't fix themselves. We can't fix ourselves either. We are often blind to our own faults too!

Involuntary reflexes, muscle spasms, etc etc etc.

All this and every time someone has an ND you're gonna jump to conclusions and blame them.

Next time you stub your toe think "oh, I need to control myself" and see if it actually works and you never stub your toe again.

Murphys law reigns here, dude.
>>
>>31634385
are you drunk or just real dumb?

Keep your finger off the fucking trigger.
If you must, for practice or any other reason NOT related to actually discharging the gun, then check and re-check and stay vigiliant on if it's loaded or not.

That's it.
You go on to explain the "human condition" as a way to justify a simple fuck way to not get an ND. Unless the "human condition" is literally being lazy and stupid around dangerous items such as firearms, then I'm so sorry you were lazy and stupid or got way too comfortable and forgot that a gun is akin to heavy machinery in a shop where if you start skipping shit and not applying the mentality needed to operate the tool, you get fucked.

It's ok though, it's "human nature", it's all ok. That's what you want to hear, right?
>>
>>31634385
You're right! Murder is completely justifiable by saying "self control is a lie!"

Just because no one is perfect doesn't mean you can't/shouldn't aim to better yourself you fucking moron. Yes, shit happens, Murphy's law a should teach you to try to prepare for as much as possible, not just accept that shit will go wrong.

An ND is an ND, you pulled the trigger just like you followed that car too close and accidentally rear-ended them. You didn't mean to, but you're still the one who was in control and didn't handle it properly.

In Texas it used to be legal to kill a man if you caught them in bed with your wife. The reasoning is you couldn't control yourself.

A man murdered a guy with his gun at an airport while he was under police custody. Premeditated as fuck. He got away with it cause the guy molested his son. Couldn't control himself.

Yea, even murder has been cleared based on uncontrollable actions.

Bigger lapses in safety have been made I guess but it just really pissed me off because of his attitude change.

>>31644872
Well, the slide on my XD and XD-s will sometimes snap shut if I really slam a mag in. I have to really try and it's not 100% of the time though. So it can happen, but assuming your story is true (because who would lie on the internet right?) then your friend is a dumb ass.

>>
>>31644910
He wasn't claiming the slide would slam shut, which does happen (I have a couple of pistols that do this pretty regularly), he dropped the mag and set a chambered gun on the table and was claiming that sometimes it would chamber one with the slide closed as an excuse for his dumbassery.

>>31644979
Dunno. I'm guessing that when you really slam it in there it shakes the gun enough for the slide release to move just enough for the slide to snap forward. Like I said, I really have to slam it in there and it doesn't work every single time. Not that I'm complaining, makes the gun go into battery faster than if I had to manipulate the slide release by hand.

AFJROTC here.
(Shit tier)

I know that feel.
My senior year this freshman (let's call him Joe) would go on and on about how he was gonna be a Marine or a Navy Seal.

Joe one day decides to wear ACUs on uniform day.
I was flight commander so it was my job to make sure everyone wore their uniforms.
Call them out while taking attendance.

"Joe, no uniform today?"
Says "uhh yeah what do think this? Seniors wear BDUs." All snarky as fuck.

"You're not a senior and those aren't BDUs, I'm giving you a zero."

Starts whining "I'm t-t-telling Colonel"

Storms out of the room.
Colonel tells him the same thing.
Kid throws a shit fit, gets sent to ISS.
Lolled all the way home.

Flash forward 3 years.
Decide to join the Marine Corps because I was bored working kitchen jobs.

Go to my first DEP PT sess.
Hear a familiar whine coming from the back of the recruiting office.
There's Joe, struggling to do a single pullup.

Apparently he just hangs around the place.
They won't let him join because he failed the ASVAB three times and skips all the PTs that are hard.

Know that you mention it bros.I'll never forget the day a man at my local range called me a communist. It was almost like something out of a movie or some shit.

Basically one day I was shooting my WASR with a good friend of mine because hey it's a sunny day so why not at a local outdoor range. We shot for about half an hour or so. And I will never forget this fucking tacticool mall ninja came up to me and started shit talking me and my firearm. I was actually taken aside by it because I thought that THESE PEOPLE WERE A JOKE.

It was like /arg/ in human form. I just stood there without any ability to respond. He eventually went back to shooting his ar in his little corner.
I guess I was taken aside by how rude he was about something as simple as firearms. But still Jesus fuck man, it's just a gun not some other shit like sports. What the fuck is wrong with people?

I learned when I was a kid that you don't carelessly sweep people with the barrel of the gun for safety reasons.

The main safety reason to which I'm referring is that if you sweep someone with the barrel, you are very likely to have the gun removed from your hand and shoved squarely up your ass. Oh, and it's moderately unsafe to the people who got swept by the barrel, too. They might hurt themselves pummelling you with the stock of the gun. Splinters, you know.

YES! The first time I cleaned it I sliced my hand the same way

Only ND I've ever had in almost 30 years of shooting.

Had someone offer to sell me a Glock 19 that was a jam-o-matic. I brought a new mag and a box of good ammo to the range in case that had been the issue. Fired two rounds, jam. Cleared safely, fired three rounds, jam. Cleared safely. Fired remaining rounds but lost exact count. When the Glock failed to fire, I couldn't easily see whether it was locked back or not from behind, so I twisted it about 30 degrees off to one side (my mistake: with finger still on the trigger.) The turning action combined with the light trigger, or possibly just a delayed round, gun went off and into the far downrange side of the burm. Still in what turned out to be a "safe" location, but an ND is an ND and luck doesn't absolve it.

I was actually very surprised because I pride myself on good trigger discipline. Reminded me why it is a great idea not to rely on the human element of failure regardless of training. Looking back, I suppose it was partially because I was a little frustrated at the jams, and tired of clearing it, and was almost subconsciously sure I was going to see a FTE condition or a double feed condition again, so I just anticipated it. I'm also a pilot, and as such I knew better as it's drilled into us that most plane crashes are attributable to pilot error even with pilots who have many thousands or tens of thousands of cockpit hours.

And yes, I am now one of those weenies that won't carry a Glock with one in the chamber. Thus, I don't carry a Glock at all. Most Glock ND's are a result of a momentary lapse of trigger discipline or catching on something while reholstering. I'd rather flip a safety and save my balls, femoral artery, and/or foot.

Teaching my mate how to shoot with grandpa's old as fuck single shot .22

>Showing him how to properly line up sights
>Lil shit stick bird lands down range, give him the single shot and pick up my .22 mag since it had an actual optic on it
>Line up nigger bird in my sights fire on my command
>Depress trigger, hear a bang
>That was quiet.. I didn't even feel anything
>Shit head bird flies away
>still questioning what happened I turn to face my mate who has a shit eating grin on his face and a smoking barrel pointed at my foot
>Wtf did you just do?
>His only response was 'i didn't know it was loaded, why would you give me a loaded gun'
>Why the fuck would you pull the trigger on a gun someone gave you without knowing if it loaded, fuck wit?
>'idk bro I didn't hit you anyway'
>Take the .22 off him and only let him touch the .177 airriffle for the rest of the weekend

Why do people get defensive when you point out they have done ridiculously stupid shit?
>>
>>31650632
>glock is jam-o-matic
Did you ever find the fault or just end up with a junk gun?

As far as one in the chamber. I am with you. Taking 1/4th of a second to rack the slide isn't really a big concern to me as blowing off my cock. Takes just as much mental concentration and thumbing a safety and grants tremendous peace of mind. Even with handguns with manual safeties I've had a few where the levers never quite clicked fully and it was still possible to fire despite looking completely safe.

If I am going into a very shady area I'll carry with one in the chamber but for the 14 hours a day I just carrying on my belt week in week out. The likelihood of a ND is not worth having a round ready to go at all times.

Right then guys, noguns britbong here, edumacate me.

What's the proper way of re-orienting a firearm to avoid weeping people? Barrel upwards? Barrel to the ground?
>>
>>31650866
Ground is usually a go to, if you're indoors aiming up can be considered unsafe, especially in 2story buildings
Out doors is really up to the situation, if you're at a range just point down range unless someone is out there for any reason

ground, what comes up must come down

I teach a few firearms courses i have a few stories

>be teaching hunters safety course
>mostly kids (like 12-15) a couple parents are hanging out too
>going out to the range with .22s to go over some basic shooting
>have 4 .22s kids have to take turns 5 rounds a piece
>first kid is fumbling with ruger 10/22 mag
>his dad grabs the rifle and muzzle sweeps the other 3 kids on the firing line then proceeds to load mag and send one home
>he muzzle sweeps me with a now loaded gun and clicks the safety off for his son
>other parents about to step in and tear this guy a new one
>go up to him and tell him he needs to go wait inside
>he starts yelling at me " who the fuck do you think you are yadda yadda"
>his son turns hearing his dad yelling
>ND right into the ground in front of his dad
>he drops the rifle
>i quickly move his son from the firing line and grab the rifle (ill note that i didnt move his son like throw him i just put my hand on his shoulder and guided him away)
>clearing rifle when dad decides to sucker punch me for "raising a hand to his kid"
>other parents jump in and drag this guy off
>sort the other kids out and instruct them to go back inside and look over the safety manual
>one guy thats probably 300lbs is sitting on him in the parking lot while his son is crying and screaming
>cops come and charges were pressed against him
>apologized to the other parents and grabbed a few rental guns and let the kids try out the ones they wanted (within limits)
>let a couple parents shoot too

How many years have you carried with on in the pipe?

How many steps have you taken? Bent over to pick something up? Gotten in and out of a vehicle? How many reaches into your back pockets? How many times have you stumbled? How many times have your tripped? How many times have you had to actually reach for your weapon?

The different between drawing and pulling the trigger and drawing+racking and pulling the trigger is incredibly small.

If you are starring in a lethal weapon film that fraction of a second might matter. For pretty much everyone else on the planet it is irrelevant. Even in a scenario where you need to draw. If you have to draw and fire that fast your situational awareness is shit or you are just as likely to shoot yourself.
>>
>>31650866

Somewhat situational.

Ground is always preferable, but you should always avoid where people could be as best as possible in order of how close they are.

If you are at the range, always downrange, and if someone is down-range, only shoot if it's Hillary.
(otherwise just set your firearm down and don't touch it)

Trap and skeet fields, sometimes up is preferable when pavement or hard ground is present. (and because bird shot just becomes literal metal rain after enough airtime)

I have never not carried without one in the pipe.

> How many steps have you taken? Bent over to pick something up? Gotten in and out of a vehicle? How many reaches into your back pockets? How many times have you stumbled? How many times have your tripped? How many times have you had to actually reach for your weapon?

OK black science man. There are these things called holsters. They do a couple of things, one of which, is protect your trigger. Another, is they hold your gun securely.

You would have to stab THROUGH my holster right in the trigger guard, and lift up violently to ever have the gun go off.
>The different between drawing and pulling the trigger and drawing+racking and pulling the trigger is incredibly small.
