Yea, all those and the Type 81S's in the country were display guns from SHOT show '89
>>
>>31615585
the reason I went with '74s is because of the straight magazines. They fit in M4 mag pouches, where as 7.62 mags do not.

Also, if you're a pussy, the recoil from 5.45 is basically negligible.
>>
>>31615629
Yeah, finding a carrier with pouches that work with banana mags is a task.
The straight magazines are appealing.
>>
>>31615643
As I had said, it was literally the only reason I did it originally.

Oh, another nice thing is that 5.45 is like $0.20 a pop in bulk.

I'm going to be buying a couple of AKs soon, but I need some guidance. I have a bunch of parts kits and receivers to build them, listed below:

1x Bulgy AKSU with original barrel receiver/kit
3x M92 receivers/kits
2x Romy G receiver/kits
1x Tantal receiver/kit
1x Yugo m70 receiver/kit trench art

I'm definitely getting a SLR-107UR, but I was planning on also grabbing a 104UR. I already have the old school bulgy krink parts kit, would this be too redundant? I would not mind having both, I dig the poly furniture as well as the triangle/wood setup. However, since I don't have unlimited funds should I spend the money elsewhere? I could get one of the "CR" rifles or a 106UR (but they are more $$). All of these rifles would be SBRed. So, another 5.45 krink or something else? If something else, what? I have ARs in 223 and 308, SKSs but not much else.
>>
>>31615844
Sell the Bulgarian kit and use the money to buy a 104UR. It's kind of dumb to have both. Buy the triangle folder and wood and plum if you want it, switch it out as your taste dictates. Stay away from the CR and UR 106's.
>>
>>31615889
Do the kits go for much nowadays? I would imagine about the same price as the new SLR.
>>
What's the best 74 pistol? I want to make an SBR.
>>
>>31615957
If it's an original/virgin barrel Bulgarian krinkov kit then it should fetch as much or more than a new 104UR, the main selling point being that barrel. People usually want $700 or more just for those barrels.
>>
>>31615719
I've met seen the collection of one of the fudds at my range in person

FN-FNC, had a Chinese pre ban and Maadi and a bunch of other stuff that I didn't recognize at the time being new to funs. He always come to the range with a savage bolt action.
>>
>>31615844

But really, why would you want a Bulgarian kit build krink on a US receiver when you can have a factory Bulgarian built krink instead?

Ok so I'm at a small loss since every faggot with a YT account wants to install a G2 trigger in their AK instead of a good ol FA surplus one. How do ya'll reinstall the shephards hook and that extra pin they give you with the surplus pack that has a ton of twists in it and then one long arm
>>
>>31616540

see youtube videos. also shepards hooks suck, I suggest the US designed retainer plate to replace it.
>>
>>31616648
Did you even bother to read what the fuck I just wrote. Also I'm more concerned with the extra parts than the shephard hook really
>>
>>31616540
>>31616671
>extra pin
You'll want to drill a third hole in the receiver to hold that pin, right between the hammer axis pin hole and the selector lever stop plate, pin goes in there, then you'll be set.

>>31616696
Good that's about what I thought they did. I'll go get my drill and a new selector switch then

I found this pic on my phone from when I first put plum on my SLR104 two years ago, a month or two after I first bought the rifle. This was all the ammo I had at the time, and these were also the only mags I had. I eventually bought eight well used brown (21)s for like $20 a piece locally, but they're really ugly and I sold them all to buy non-ugly mags.

It's really weird finding old pics of guns.
>>
Can someone do me a favor and search for 7N1 on AKfiles?

Only shoot 7n6 if you plan on shooting a lot.. It's not worth the chore for just one or two mags.

Follow up by flushing the barrel, gas block, gas tube, front sight base threads and muzzle brake, even the rear sight base, completely with warm water, the warmer the better, room temp water will work too but you'll want to use a lot. You're trying to dissolve the salt and flush it out, warmer is better.

Spray it all out with compressed air, oil everything liberally.

He's just wrapping up the most recent one, so unless he's tired of the bullshit, he'll possibly do another one soon.

>Is 5.45x39 gonna stay available?
It should, non corrosive new production 5.45 is easily and readily available for the same price as 7.62x39 online
>Am I gonna get raped on markups buying one?
Probably in today's market with the whole election thing going on. They can still be had for normal prices but you'll have to shop around and keep your eyes open.
>Where'd you get yours?
Atlantic for $899 in May 2014
>Where can I find 5.45 mags that aren't $50 each?
If you're paying $50 a piece for mags that aren't special you're doing something wrong. The most I've ever paid for a 5.45 mag was $45 shipped for a few brand spanking new current issue Izhmash true black mags. You get a feel for the market, and when you keep your eyes open you'll recoginze a deal when you find one and can score mags for fairly cheap.
>Also, plum a best
It's all preference. Plum is nice, wood and bakelite is nice, black is nice, 74s in general are nice. Plum has seemingly exploded in popularity recently though, it seems like everyone and their brother with 74s are scrambling to put plum and triangles on their rifles. I've got a black polymer sidefolder coming in on Tuesday and then I'll be switching to all black.

Saiga 9 would be so much easier because 9x19 and a practically standard AK100 receiver.

Thanks, I'll definitely check that out!

Can you pick colors and quality in the group buy? Unlimited amount if i have the cash? Is it safe?
>>
>>31621032
Oh yeah. VAFag will send you a price list of what he can get (plum, bake, aluminum, drum, etc) and in which calibers and you just tell him what you want. I'm not sure if you could order 100's of mags from him, but you'll definitely get enough to scratch that itch.
>>
>>31621032
And yes he's safe. He's done this a few times here and people always get what they order.
I've got 8 mags on the way (4 bake, 4 plum) and I can't wait.
>>
>>31621032

also, avoid promag and tapco mags. they're not very durable. they're the cheapest mags on ammoseek for a reason.
>>
>>31620592
Why do you consider them worse options in that price range?
>>
>>31620832
Buy steel Romy mags from arms America if it's 7.62. or just buy whatever shit mags you want and resell for a profit after the cunt wins the election.
>>
>>31621164
Lower quality materials, non-chrome lined barrel, and several parts that aren't standard to most AKs. They're not bad guns, but there's not really a reason to buy them unless you just have a hard on for Zastava.
>>
>>31621203
Or unless you can't find WASRs or the other options. That's a possibility.

How many 5.45 mags do you guys have?
I've got:
>12 black (10)s (two new production, the rest are surplus)
>16 surplus plums (All Izhmash, about 60% shiny and 40% matte)
>15 true black Izhmash (four are NOS, the rest are used in various conditions)
>8 Bulgarian sanitized plum mags (six still painted black and to have had the paint removed, the two with removed paint were formerly Izhmash. These are my beater mags)

I don't have any bakelite mags, any 45 round mags, any Tula mags, or any (21)s or (25)s.

you'll be paying a hefty premium in most online stores vs forums.

KVAR has 5.45 mags, they're pricey tho.
APEXgunparts has some 5.45 stuff too, also overpriced.

US based akfiles sellers with lots of good feedback are the way to go. Sometimes, if you ask really nicely, sellers will hand pick stuff for you.
You're in the market for 5.45 mags right? CDNN sports has cheapo range ones.

summary:
1. buying military grade 5.45 mags from online stores like aimsurplus, kvar, rguns, sgammo will cost you $45+ per mag.

2. buying civilian 5.45 plastic mags from cdnnsports will cost you $10-15 per mag

3. buying military surplus 5.45 mags from akfiles will cost ya $28-36 per mag

you can also gamble and buy mags directly from Russia ($21-$25 per mag) but that's technically a violation of ITAR laws, so if you go that route, you better buy a nice insurance policy for your dog.

It's a bit of a joke, since many US made parts aren't even given a conspicuous marking proving that they are us made. Don't bother. I assume you are building a kit, or converting a saiga/vepr as all commercially available rifles are already 922r compliant. If building from a kit or converting, common parts used are usually (3) FUG, pistol grip, muzzle device, furniture(handguard set counts as 1, stock counts as 1), receiver (us made receiver on all kit builds for the most part) barrel (If using a new barrel on a more recent kit)

Generally a nice FCG, pistol grip, barrel, receiver and I end up compliant (merely by accident) on most of my builds.

My bulgarian 74 kit build has a 5.56 barrel, home-bent receiver, ALG FCG, us plum pistol grip (I replaced the ugly brown grip that came in the kit) to match the plum furniture. Don't bother trying to use mags for 922r, and us made mags suck anyway.

If you only have a rifle or two a dozen is fine. Once you get a pile of rifles about 8 or so each is good, I like to have at least two four-mag pouches per rifle, preferably loaded and ready to grab for an easy day in the woods. East German combat sets with two pouches are a cool way to go.

Keep buying mags as long as you can find deals on them, they aren't really getting any cheaper though.

Yeah I have a Stack On steel cabinet, it was like $100. Bolted it to the wall and floor

It's pretty sturdy. There's no way some smash-and-grab burglar is getting in there. My dad had the same kind of cabinet and experienced a break-in. They beat the hell out of the cabinet, tried tools, gouged the fuck out of it in the process. They couldn't get in

A determined person with tools and skills and whose hands aren't shaking from heroin withdrawal could get in with enough time, but its pretty good imo

you'll still be too poor when they're "banned" and the price quadruples again

$30 for a magazine is negligible for any actual adult.

I agreee. So how does spending negligible amounts of money on magazines constitute hedonism?

What's the best option for an AK close to the AKM spec, as in cleaning rod, furniture, bayonet lug and everything else besides fun switch obviously? I don't like Arsenal because all of that shit is folding and I want rock solid no-chances stuff, and prefer the aesthetic.
