>.338 Lapua Magnum for $720
Am I missing something /k/, or does that seem right for a used Savage 111? Is this too good to be true? Pic related.
Also, post Armslist funnies.

They run about $900-1K new IIRC.

Ah, that is looking about right. I feel like I'd be spending double that on optics just to use it correctly.
Can be had brand new for <$1200 OTD. $720 is not too far off. Price alone doesn't set off my scam detector. Being on armslist, who knows if it is legit?
How used? Most likely less than 20 rounds, when owner decided they have no actual use for it, ammo is extremely expensive, and everyone at the range absolutely hates you now.
And, do you have an actual use for a 338lapua hunting rifle?
Nobody I know who owns a .338 LM ever shoots it. It's really not a recreational gun. It's all business, if you don't have a job for that gun there's no reason to buy it.

At first I thought you said $270 and my head started to explode

Yes, staring at, fondling, and hunting steel and paper. My local range goes out to 1000 yards, and another range about an hour away goes out to 2000.

Honestly doesn't surprise me

Local range with 1200 yard steel doesn't allow 338 or 50 on it unless you bring and hang your own steel. Also liability etc.

good enough, but...
have fun waiting 30 minutes between shots for your hunting model's pencil barrel (by 338lm standards) to cool down.

Both very valid points... I've got money burning a hole in my pocket damnit.

Except all the people I know who have a .338 Lapua shoots them pretty regularly, usually at 600-800 yards.
I just bought the savage 112. I think that's the best option for 338LM if you want to save a few bucks for dies brass and bullets. Yes it's single shot but I already reload my 308 past mag length.
Realistically unless you are shooting at Super extreme long range you can get the same ballistics with a much more cost efficient 6.5 round. Even at very long range heavy bullets in a 300 mag can do ALMOST as well. Just realize if you buy the Lapua everything about it is expensive.

you best be, otherwise you're pretty much wasting ammo. i just looked at some s&b optics yesterday (trying to find something unrelated) it's easily $3000+ for their respectable long range shooting optics.

Could have bought a TRG-42 for under $1500 once around 2009 iirc. Didn't buy it for the same reason the guy was selling it. Nowhere to shoot it, ammo was expensive as fuck, mags we're expensive as fuck and so was proper glass. Sure I could have flipped it, it why not let somebody with the means to use it properly find the deal instead.
