Im looking for a cartridge that can hunt and kill anything from squirrels to mountain lions, to the occasional black bear. Only the squirrel cant get destroyed by the shot, i want to still be able to eat it.
With one caveat: it'll get fired out of a short barrel (10" or less), and without a stock bc muh atf. Meaning preferably not a round that will make a fireball out of a short barrel and give away my position
Pic related is what the gun would look like in theory

You would be far better served with a 10/22 + a .44mag revolver than trying to get one caliber to do everything.

Let me tell you from experience that squirrels are absolutely vaporized by .30 carbine. The parameters you've set are unrealistic. Abandon the pistol/sbr/aow idea, get a 20ga shotgun and suddenly the taking of tiny to large game much more feasible.

hell make that a takedown 10/22 and you will be gtg
>>31614032
>>31614044
What if instead that was reversed and got a .22 pistol and a larger cartridge cut down rifle?
>>31614003
The only gun I can think of that meets all of your requirements is the phaser gun from Star Trek.
You should send Elon Musk an email asking him to actually make one.
Shotgun with birdshot, buckshot, and slugs as options
you're welcome op

I was about to say the same thing, but either way works I guess

I think you would be better off with the rifle a .22 and the revolver.
You're primarily going to be using the small caliber and rarely if ever going to be using the larger. Black bears still rarely fuck with adult humans, and that's the only thing on your list a .22 won't kill with ease.

or if you really wanted to you I suppose this would be fine too

Apparently cut down, superposed shotgats are my new fetish.

You'll need a shotgun for that, it will be the only type of weapon that can decently shoot small animals and make bigger ones worry, anything else will probably be too powerful for the first and not enough for the second, but that's because you are trying to find a magic weapon that can do anything for you.
As stated earlier, you'd rather get two guns.
On a similar note, was there anything like a semi-auto in a large (or even intermediate) calibre with something like a secondary barrel for say a single shot .22lr ever made?

Try this:

.22 Mag

Idk about semiauto but combo guns are a thing

Where to find a manufacturer of pistol shotguns, as opposed to shotguns with stocks?

>45-70
>always

About the only place I know of is Serbu with their AOW shorty. You still need to file for a stamp, but it's just $5.
>>31614003
45-70
/thread /thread and /thread
7.62x39 AK and a PMR-30.
?
>>31617297
Tell me where I can buy this now motherfucker.
>>31615026
Serbu and Mossberg are the only people making AOW like that I suppose.
>>31617297
how do you fire that? I can see the tube is hinged at the front, and I'm guess in switch I see is to unlock it.
>>31614003
Just buy a minigun that shoots 22LR. 22LR is great for varmints and if anything big comes at you can just unload on it at 6,000 rounds per minute. Problem solved.
>>31617297
I wonder what it would be like to fire a 00 buck shell out of that.
>>31614003
Why don't you carry a shotgun, just carry dif loads for it?
One gun.
Can hunt pretty much any thing with it.
You can make it pretty compact.
>>31617404
front trigger for shotgun rear trigger for pistol
probably works like a gp30 firing pin
or you know its a movie prop and never functioned
>>31614003
Right tool for the job is always better than one multi tasker.
Really for survival, a .22lr for small game hunting...a shotgun is great for birds but technically your .22lr can be pressed into killing individual birds.
Next a larger caliber rifle for hunting larger game. Try a .357 mag, .45 LC or .45-70 lever action or a .308 bolt action rifle.
If you are thinking about fighti g people then maybe a semi auto .308 like a M-14 clone.
Honestly a Saiga/VEPR is what you're looking for. Mag loaded, semi auto, can change out bird shot for buck shot for slugs.. Your best bet is to have an AR and a pistol tho.... If the extra 4 pounds of a glock and ammo is too much go to the gym.

Fairly sure that it'd be better than most sawn-offs. Since the bore axis is pretty much in-line with your arm.
