Anyone own a EOTech EXPS3-4 Hybrid? looking into getting one for my AR and was wondering if they are worth the price. I'd like a good close quarters optic but also something for medium distance targets and it seems like the optic I'm looking for.

Yea sure, but be ready to remember hold overs for different ambient temperature.
>>

Could you elaborate? I know a bit about holdovers and zeroing, but what does that have to do with "ambient temperature"? Serious question.

>Spending $1000+ on a shitty flip magnifier combo that has double the number of lenses that can get scratched or dirty

>not spending that same amount of cash on a Steiner T5Xi or Burris XTR II
>clearer glass, an even more functional reticle, and zero-holding worth a shit not to mention daytime usability with a dead battery

There was a lawsuit involving the US government. Moving EOTechs from warm to cold environments or cold to warm caused the sight to drift out of alignment. There was also an issue with gas leaking out of some sights that caused fogging. So far they've been sending out hundreds of refund checks to pissed off customers.

eotech ran into a big PR problem when it was discovered that in extreme temperatures, the reticle would shift, making your POA/POI change. they had to buy back everyones eotech and issue refunds. i'm not sure if theyve ever fixed the problem, but they're still for sale obviously

They have a bunch of problems. Get a T2 and Eotech magnifier instead.

Well shit, thanks for the info. I was looking at the t2 as well, so I guess that is my next choice to go for.
>>
>>31613630

Or go PA or Holosun 503G with ACSS reticle. They are cheap, magnify well, years of battery like Aimpoint, pretty tough as well.

Be aware T2 has slight image shift because aimpoint wanted to make the dot crisper. If you zero your irons through it, then it'll be off if you take T2 off. Or you can zero separately.

>>31613664
well now I'm looking at the holosun and a primary arms magnifier and mount for less than 400. Seems a whole lot better of a deal than the t2 combination which was over 1000. Unless I am missing something with the t2 other than the dot being crisper that makes it worth 600 more dollars.

T2 is aimpoint tough, proven, and 5 year battery.

You could get MRO, 5 year battery, but it has magnification problems, image shift, slightly unproven, but Trijicon reputation.

PA- Get the AD-MDS for 170. On sale, it comes with a cowitness or 1/3 mount. It is compaitable with Aimpoint micro mount of your choice. ADM is good or Geissele if you want QD.

Holosun- PA is just rebranded Holosun. Holosun 503G has less battery life at 30k hours, but it has auto shutoff and motion activation, so you'll probably get 5 years out of it too. It also has ACSS reticle that you can use with magnifier, so it's more like the EXPS 3-4 reticle.

As for manifiers, I think Vortex has a good magnifier. Eotech G33 is gtg as well. PA might have a good one as well. Make sure you read some reviews.

These are CQB optics, so I don't know if you really want a heavy magnifier at the end of it. If you want short-long range performance, I'd suggest a LPV 1-6 or 1-8. Vortex Strike Eagle, or PA 1-6, 1-8x are good.

Anyways, it seems like you need to do some more research.

They fixed the issue, just make sure you get a new one, not a used one. Also it was really only in temperatures most everyday people wouldn't really experience.
>>
>>31615034
>They fixed the issue,

No they didn't. What source do you have for eotech "fixing" the thermal drift issue?
>>
>>31615034
No they haven't.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS IDIOT.

Please, if you can provide proof that they've "fixed it" then go ahead.
