>>31612397
It's a really, really nice rifle. considering I feed it utter shit ammo like brown bear, it's very accurate. I'll know more once I take it to the outdoor range and shoot at 100+yd. I've yet to have a stoppage. Cleaning it is what really makes me like it, since the whole entire barrel assembly slides out, so you have direct access to the chamber.
Biggest gripe is that that little ledge for your middle finger under the trigger guard will give you a blister if you shoot it for long enough
>>31612443
Yeah man, I got rid of it. It was a lefty that I figured I could just convert but IWI fucked the whole community by deciding they weren't going to sell LH/RH bolts and forcing you instead to do service and conversions through their gunsmith network. Wasn't worth the trouble.

i gotta admit, i like the wood hand guards and polymer buttstock better than polymer handguns and polymer buttstock
>>31612266
Nice 03A3. I would love to shoot mine if the stock didnt fucKING CRACK
>>31612618
I think ACE has a slant-cut adapter then you can get some M70 wood furniture to put on. Only reason I haven't done it with mine is I don't feel like dumping $250 into it right now
>>31612737
sheeeit. how long have these been available? i had only heard of the "tactical" adapters, to put ar buttstocks on them.
>>31612774
A while, but unfortunately not enough people have M77s for word to get around.

>>31612783
its really a shame there are so few m77s. they couldve easily been the american equivalent of chink m14s
>>31612443
Needs modern pistols and a decent precision rifle.
Maybe a battle rifle too.
>>31612536
Hot damn, I've got to get one of those. How much was yours? I'm trying to gauge what a fair price is for a good-condition matching P38 is.
>>31612868
You don't even know, but I'm in the communist state of Maryland and we need a faggot-ass license to own non C&R handguns.
M1A, HK91 & clones, FAL banned by name. Only option for a battle rifle is an AR-10 or something snowflake.
AK's also banned by name.
Only ranges within an hour driving limit are indoors, 25yds max.
>moving to PA for gunsmith school soon, going to buy/build an AK74 literally first thing (since, again, those are banned by name in MD)
>>31612878
Did you do that stock on the mosin yourself?
>>31612878
I paid $675 shipped for mine. It's an all-matching refinished Russian capture. I was happy with the price for 2016, and I specifically chose that one because the grips look fantastic in my opinion. Came with one blued P38 marked mag.
You can find non-refinished examples for maybe a bill or two more, but I wanted it as a shootable gun anyways and I think the rebluing is suitably pretty.
>>31612886
Well that sucks. Sorry to hear that.
If I were going to gunsmithing school, I'd see if I couldn't build myself a HK53.
Or a semi PKM.
>>31612887
If by "do" you mean replace the original cracked hardwood stock with a laminate one, then yes. Other than sanding it down a bit to fit and getting as much cosmoline out as I could, that's it. Strictly speaking, it's not of the same time period as the receiver, but I reasoned that if the Soviets didn't give a fuck, why should I?
Also, not that I'm really complaining, but why does everyone comment on the Mosin stock? Are laminate stocks that uncommon?
>>31612479
LOOSER
also who are you quoting
>>31612905
Basically anything HK is banned by name. Too scary for us civilian plebs to own.
Might stay in PA for a while, apparently it's cheaper to live there. And the gun laws aren't assfuck retarded, worse than California tier...
>at least I can legally own 30 rounders though
>>31612904
>refinished
Looks really nice, and I wouldn't mind it if I found a well done example. I agree that the red bakelite grips look the best - I'm going to try to get my hands on one soonish (though I haven't shot my Garand yet). $675 seems pretty good from what I've seen. I guess I'll have to keep a look out for deals.
Do you find that it's picky about ammo at all?
>>31612359
lol its a NA .22 mag
>>31612906
I've seen them, just never on a mosin. Mostly SKSs. Was mostly just curious if you put it in yourself or bought it like that
>>31612940
Yeah, I got the Mosin from a friend (who had it as his first gun, but is completely unsentimental about such things). It was a good deal, partly as a buddy price, and partly because the hardwood stock was cracked. I decided it was worth it for a completionist kind of thing (pic related).
When it came time to buy a new stock, I got a laminate one because I really like the look. I was not aware at the time that there are two kinds of tangs on 91/30 receivers and the laminate stock was for the smaller kind, so I sanded it down to fit.
>>31612928
I haven't seen a terrible amount of the Russian refinished guns on the market, but beware of Bubba's backroom bluing project. The rollmarks are a tad shallow on mine but I've seen a couple on Gunbroker with literally none of the text legible at all, and an awful looking high polish blue. Kinda gross.
You can get reproduction/takeoff grips on eBay or GB for anywhere from $40 to $120, but that's kinda silly considering nice examples with red grips show up regularly
I got mine on Gunbroker but keep an eye on Legacy Collectibles, they have assloads of them for a little over market value, but you know exactly what you're getting. Empire Arms will also occasionally get in one or two and they seem trustworthy.
I only feed it 115gr, and I've had it stovepipe exactly once when I was shooting it one-handed. Probably limpwristed because I wasn't resisting the recoil whatsoever. Make sure you install a spring kit if you have even the slightest suspicion, mine were nice and stiff when I got it but I've heard they can go bad over the decades they've been stored.
A Garand is the next big item on my list, but a local shop got in a stunning FN49 for $750 today... might have to put the M1 on the backlog.
>>31612960
Thanks for the tips. I hadn't heard about Legacy Collectibles before and now I'll definitely check them out. I'd been after a Garand for a while but it took me a while, partly because I got the K31 as an impulse-buy (also because the CMP went out of stock as soon as I got the money together). I've also been lusting after FN49s, but I really feel like it's time for me to grab a handgun. Unfortunately, I'm a Califag and my C&R isn't good enough to get handguns shipped to me for some fucking reason. So I have to factor in transfer fees (which are stupidly high here) plus other state fees.
I've heard the CMP will be running out of Garands around the beginning of 2017, so you may want to hop on that if you want one that's actually reasonably priced.
>>31612995
I honestly don't mind paying $1100 or so for one in good condition with a nice barrel. It's a gun I've always wanted and would be worth it to me, even if they're obtainable cheaper elsewhere.

>>31614227
I would buy a new barrel and front sight for your m16. You need a non f marked fsb and a 20 pencil barrel. F marked bases are too high. Also you might like having a maadi ak, an m82 and or any legal full auto.
Next on the agenda, a shitty PSA AR or something. Maybe a glawk.

Just started acquiring funs. This is what I have so far.
>>31615116
Mine works fine
You have two options when buying one:
1. Buy brand new- Century 1 year warranty means they will try to fix it. Downside is that is century so "fix" is a best case scenerio
2. Buy used - Check bolt gap and hope it runs well. If bolt gap starts to slip or the rifle runs like dogshit you can use it as a parts kit and have someone rebuild it into a good clone.
Bottom line:
>Dont pay more than $700 for one
>Mags cost a shitload

Somebody help me decide what kind of revolver to get. I really want a .357. I was looking at a GP101 in shiny chrome with wood grips, I love the look of that gun. But I need something more affordable. As you can see based on my arsenal I've never spent more than $600 maplebux on a gun before.
Can somebody help me find something similar for around a $600CAD price point?
.357, similar look to a GP100, preferably not black and with wood grips, but that's not required

Yeah, modern ones are good to go. Only thing I and many others don't like about them is they're very stout and you really have to rack the sumbitch hard to kick out the next shell.
I'm sure there's some gunsmithing you can do to loosen that up, I need to poke inside mine.

>>31617730
None whatsoever. The dipshits who keep shooting off their hands were using airshit quality foregrips that broke, not the rail itself. Get one with sizeable rail engagement and a crossbolt attachment screw. I'm using a tapco stubby grip and it has about two full inches of rail engagement. Also, if you're super wor ried about it, put a handstop like one of these: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCMGUNFIGHTER-KAG-1913-Picatinny-Rail-Version-p/bcm-kag-1913-blk.htm in front of your VFG.
I see no reason to put a metal rail on and the ones I've seen just attach to the polymer rail anyway making it extra bulky and still reliant on the stock rails anyway.

I could see someone making a combination dust cover/shell deflector for the KSG. That's actually a pretty good idea.
>>31618329

Everything is pretty standard (age, non-felon, etc) except for the CMP-affiliated club and proof of marksmanship activity. For the club, the easiest way to do it is to give the Garand Collectors Association $25. They'll even send your info to the CMP if you want them to.
For proof of marksmanship, you can take part in a shooting competition (you don't have to do well). If you have a carry license, that counts as well. I personally have a C&R license, so I was exempt from that part.
You put all your paperwork that you need together, get the order form notarized (so they can run the NICS check and know it's actually you), and send it off.

I just got my new upper back from ADCO, it's a PSA premium, got a thread protector pinned and the bayonet lug ears shaved off. You got the care package, didn't ya? The range bag, earpro, and glasses?
I got one too. I wish the bag was just slightly bigger, though.

They're surprisingly easy to shoot accurately. And you can actually get a lot of power from the 62cal. Here's an old copypasta I made describing the darts.
They're 62cal blowgun darts.
The 6inch steel darts should be pretty self explanatory. They penetrate well and are fun to shoot into wood targets. It actually takes a pretty good pull and some wiggling to get them out again. If they penetrate deeply enough, the cone on the back disconnects and the dart keeps penetrating.
The 10in bamboo darts are what I use for indoor practice since they stick but won't go through my insulation target. Two or three layers of cardboard would also be enough to stop them. If you hit something hard with them, they'll lose their tip so you have to be a little careful. They could be used as animal deterrent if need be, they'd hurt and puncture skin, but not permanently injure. I've never done it with them though.
The blunt plastic stunner darts are really nasty. I've cracked a dry deer leg bone up close with them. They're easily the dart type I use the most. First of all, they're plastic and not sharp, so I don't worry about losing them in the grass/woods and finding them again in an unpleasant way like a foot/tire. I use them to knock down bird/wasp nests in sheds and on the house, and I also use them to motivate unwanted dogs to keep off our place via bruising them(it beats having to shoot them with a real gun later because they start to wander up often and think they own the place, steal food, kill cats, get my dog running). Obviously the point is to let them know that it's no fun to be here without taking it to extremes.

I have one of those. I stunned a pigeon with the plastic ball darts.

haha yeah, that was from when I first started funs.
That kit comes in handy when i'm taking people to shoot
>>31630255
My furthest hit was 30 yards on a blackbird using the plastic ones.
I just grazed it after a couple near hits. I almost caught it by hand, but it regained its senses just as I got up to it.
Don't laugh.
>>31630302
Not laughing.
You have the best 22 handgun imo, and chargers are fun.
Still, you really need to get into center fire rifles badly. Ak, ar, misinformed, whatever.
>>31630244

Nice AR-180, under what circumstances did it come into your possession in such a cucked state?
>>31630473
I owned it pre-SAFE. I don't really shoot it and it needs to be completely refinished, some rust here and there too. But sometimes I walk around the house with it pretending I'm the terminator so that's pretty fun.
>>31630255
Link? Sounds fun

I bought it at Cabelas years ago. It came with a variety pack. Not sure if this one does.

not pictured: some lowers, a 28" barrel for the mossberg, a 22lr conversion for the AR, a fuckton of ammo and mags.

Pretty good IMO.
You need some unaltered slav in there one of these days, but you make up for a lot with that sks bullpup, beautiful trenchguns, and bumpski stock.

I love both of them, carry the 9mm. Still need to get a good OWB holster for the .45.

>>31636118
Yeah I've always wanted an AK. Used to own a PSL, but I let someone panic buy it off me for twice what I paid for it.
I'll either get an Arsenal or wait for Kalashnikov USA to finally get off their asses and make something.
>>31638125
You remind me of myself, not going to settle for anything that's not exactly what you want.
What did you sell the PSL for? You'd have a hell of a time making me part with mine. Probably the most fun gun I've shot so far.
>>31638313
Paid 699 for the PSL way back. Sold it to a friend of a friend for 1400 during the height of the 2013 panic. Word is he sold it to some other person for two grand.
Loved the PSL, but I got in the mind of consolidating calibers. I'm trying to stick with 22lr, 12ga, 9mm, .223, and .308 for my own personal logistics.
My sks and my lcp are the only exceptions remaining. The sks was the first gun I ever owned, and the lcp is the only gun I ever carry. So they stay for now.
>>31612041

>>31630244
>mfw weaponized chopsticks
Nice anon, I've never seen anyone use a blow gun for anything practical.
Not all I have, just the only pic I have on my phone. Ignore the 8x24 on the AR, it was a joke for when I had my 16" upper.
"aresenal"
Plz no h8
>>31639889
Hey its a good start anon.
Mine isn't much better but you got most of the bases covered there.
>>31641168
I know, I'm building it up, probably get a 1911 or wheel gat next
>>31638488
Well, at least you can buy another for that if you choose to.
>I got in the mind of consolidating calibers. I'm trying to stick with 22lr, 12ga, 9mm, .223, and .308 for my own personal logistics.
Doesn't make a lot of sense to me I guess, not like anybody is forcing you to evenly stock ammo for each gun. But whatever floats your boat.
You can always just keep a few boxes handy and enjoy more guns when the mood hits if you keep the ones you like.
And it's always easier to find ammo in a panic when you shoot a bit of everything.
>>31621652
I only had the Mosin and the 870 prior to January. I bought the 1911 when a car I wanted fell through. I bought the XD-S a month later when I got my carry permit. Paid for all the AR10 parts in June, but didn't receive them until September. I bought the Vepr late July when I realized the AR parts weren't showing up any time soon. So yeah, it's small but I'm slowly building it up.
>>31639889
i have half an ar, an m&p and a shit shit shit shit Portuguese shotgun.

>>31622292

Trying to decide what I want next. A friend of mine has 3 ARs in different configurations ill try out soon... but Im thinking of going for a lever gun instead
>>31612342
Lazy fucking nigger, clean up your shit
>>31647953
I'd go with the AR config that's best for longer range and testing out how good of a shot you really can be.
You've got the extremely short range & weak calibers sewn up with shotguns, 22s, and pistol calibers.
What you really need IMO, is something 30caliber and hard hitting. But there's ARs for that too, in 308 if you aren't set on using 223.
>>31648087
>>31645652
I don't think it looks too bad actually considering what he's trying to fit in there.
Just how much cleaner and organized can he really make it? Safes are small and tight, not anywhere near ideal for more than about half the stuff they "say" you can fit in them.
>TFW no arsenal yet, just a lonely 10/22
Soon...
Just finished up the cabinet, too.

You certainly do. I'm only about half way to my 36 gun capacity and it's already beginning to feel a bit cramped.
