I just bought a Stag 100% stripped lower.

I plan on buying the rest of the parts slowly. Is there a best order to buy them?

How do I know if my parts will work with my lower?

What's the difference between an A2 and A4? Any recommendations for parts for general plinking/value/HD

I want to join the funposting

Complete the lower first with a lower-parts-kit, and a buffer tube assembly + buttstock.

Then you can start working on the upper. Or cut the bullshit and get a complete upper.

At the bare minimum you will need an AR-15 tool wrench, a torque wrench (can be rented for free from AutoZone), a vise, and a stake punch to stake your castle nut.

i would not consider durability as a reason to get forged over billet. you will not break either one, billet lowers are still extremely durable its just forged is a little more due to the process.

weight, feature such as ambi controls, and looks are what you should consider when looking at forged vs. billet

a lower is not really "important". ignore the durability nonsense as thats all it is

Is Tula acceptable as plinking ammo in a 16" 1:7?

The price difference between 55gr FMJ, 62gr FMJ, 62gr HP, and 75gr HP is negligible. The frequently posted twist/gr chart says that 69gr+ is ideal for a 1:7 barrel, so of those choices is 75gr HP the best? Is there any downside to using that over the other three?

Empty rails are pointless and add weight for no reason.

Magpul handguards aren't the aesthetic choice, but they are lightweight strong and functional and that is the point of the gun. If I absolutely have to attach something it has m-loc slots.

yep. with 1:7 you can use any of them, heavier is preferable. it's not super accurate, but it's work for plinking.

just got it installed and im underwhelmed. the best way to describe it is "dated tacticool". like something you would have seen on ar15 5 years ago. maybe its not quad rails in general but this quad rail.

Torque, then loosen, repeat until 1/4 of turn left. Then you turn until straight.

I know I've seen a couple people here with Surefire silencers. I can only assume that a 762 or 300 SPS would work on a 308 or 556, so long as they have their qd muzzle devices. Is that the case? I assume so because there is only one model of Warden, which uses the same attach system.

Why don't they note it then on their product pages? Silencerco, AAC, and others have a habit of listing the decibel levels of their 30 caliber silencers for 5.56 but Surefire seems to only even note that you can use it on all 3 calibers for the 300 SPS and none of the other 30 caliber ones.

What are those sights even desirable when mbus pros exist?

Other than for the memes, you can't see shit out of the small peeps of the kac during low light, so they're useless, unlike the mbus that has dual apertures.

If you want the graduated rear, then get the MBUS PRO LR.

That's not what Loctite does. It's not glue, you're not adhering pieces together. Screws work with friction, that keeps them in place. Loctite works on top of the friction, it doesn't reduce it or make things come loose. If your screw is backing out with Loctite, it would back out without Loctite.

And you shouldn't use Loctite on optic thumb screws. Or any screws for that matter, unless specifically directed to by the manufacturer. Rule of thumb: If it comes with a tube of Loctite, use it. Otherwise don't. Even it the instructions say that you CAN, don't. Only if it says you MUST or SHOULD.

Also the factory mounts are okay. Military uses them almost exclusively. Just crank them down with a quarter and keep an eye on the knobs, they tend to work loose.

Though if you have money for an ACOG, I can't imagine how you wouldn't have another 7% for a quality mount, so this is a confusing problem to have.

But 4oz is still enough to build like 100 rifles.

Out of all the bizarre choices you made, I have to ask why dd you decided to put the needlessly long rail riser on both the receiver and the handguard? Pick one. Don't span the gap.

There's so much odd, wrong and offensive, I don't have time to go into anything else.

I wouldn't go that far.

>>
>>31612704
In most barrel nut setups, lockup with the gas tube is at least partially exploited for anti-rotation. Since a 9mm AR has no gas tube, this factor is not present, so the riser serves as a fail-safe measure against rotation. That riser is torqued down like a motherfucker as well so bridging the gap should be a non-issue.

I would say probably me. It's hard to get much lighter than a lightweight barrel, no muzzle device, minimum-length m-lok handguard, and minimalist stock.

without optic it honestly doesn't feel much heavier than a regular pistol to me.

the KMR is more tubular, the slim rail has more of a quad rail shape to it. they're both good rails, pretty much comes down to preference.
>>
>>31612669
Yes, I would not recommenced a harbor freight drill press. They don't spin true and the shelf the vice sits on will bend if you put any downward force on it, even from just drilling it will bend.

Should I trade my 9mm AR for a USP Compact and a little bit of cash? No light or irons included in the trade.
>>
>>31613374
>>31613404

DD as a rule is much stronger. BCM is probably lighter, too lazy to check the stats right now.

I suggest mlok though because I prefer the aesthetics. Geissele is the top of the line. If you want a square rail go G rail. If you want tube rail, go ALG.

KMR is super slim in the hand and light.

yes

>>31613589

People hate on tube rails, but they are the most comfortable.

If you want gucci, comfortable and mlok, then URX 4 is the best. If not go ALG, but it's not gucci.

Tfw KAC steals ALG's mounting system.

The standard TA51 mount is a solid mount that works very well. it will return to zero if you put it on the same rail section it was on when you took it off. also with the knobs when you get them tightened down with a coin take a paint pen and mark the base of the knob and the mount so you can see if its starting to work out or not.

Little over $1000 I think. I'm trying to see if he will do a trade for everything except for the lower; that way once I have more money I could rebuild my 9mm. If I get rid of this the likelihood of me finding a 9mm colt lower in a private sale would be ridiculous.

I offered to throw some cash his way for the trouble and to put the AR together once his lower would come in; we'll see what he says.

Without the lower it would be a decent trade as the lower was $190. Cash on my end would just be to make up for the trouble. Otherwise if I trade the whole thing he'll need cash, or something to throw with the USP. But I'm still not sure I want to get rid of something that I can't get back.

That USPc is a good gun, but limited by modern carry gun standards feature-wise. It's about the same size as most other guns with a smaller magazine capacity, it's just a bit wider than others, and if you don't already own one, DA/SA can take getting used to. See if you can find one locally and handle it. If you like it, snag it up.

It'd depend on the round count etc., but if it's a fairly recent model, I'd say you could get 750-800 easy.

I've been thinking of picking one up in 40 since the police trade ins can be $350-500 on GB. That's how I got my full size.

Pic is my cheapest and most expensive handguns.
