Leather works fine you double nigger, Kydex is objectively superior as a working material for holsters but leather looks nice, and performs well enough, and has for the last several hundred years.

Bad timing bro! I had to evac for the storm and I packed up my shop, can't have googles looting my expensive tools. In a few days I can provide some serious tool pr0n. Heres some of my hand stitching, done with a blanchard #8 pricking iron and 0.8mm ritza thread.

Watch all of Nigel Armitage's vids, he's legendary in the leather game. He has a series of reviews on stitching irons, which you should watch before you buy. Here's a good saddle stitching tutorial:

Here's some free holster patterns, from a dude who posts on leatherworker.net:

Basically the process is to cut out your pattern, I use a round knife but you can use an xacto. Glue shit together, using Barge Cement, and tap it flat with a smooth faced hammer. Mark your stitch lines with a pair of wing dividers, a grooving tool is not necessary. Either mark the leather with a pricking iron and use an awl to pierce the holes as you stitch, or use a stitching iron to punch the holes through (easier for beginners). Trim or sand the edges flat, bevel with an edging tool, dunk in water and wedge your gun in to form it. Burnish the edges, then dye or whatever. A couple coats of neatsfoot oil makes a nice natural-looking finish, but don't overdo it. You want the holster to be stiff.

The andrews vids should cover the process, he has all the power tools but everything can be done by hand. I'll be around tomorrow to answer any questions, in between yard work.

The only knowledge I have on leatherworking is for snek.

Leather is better than kydex if you have limited tools/money, want something custom on the holster, or have some weird gun, or just prefer it which I definitely do. Its really fuckin easy. Just practice a bit and you will have a nice holster is all I can really tell you. Its hard to become a leather master but its not hard to make something that is less than half retarded unless you are yourself half retarded.
