Reloading the clip = threading bullets into the stripper clip.

Reloading the magazine = sliding bullets into the magazine.

The slot on the bolt for the clip allows the clip to do it's job as a tool for assisting you in reloading the magazine quicker as opposed to inserting the bullets one by one.

The Gibson films yes. The new one, who the fuck knows. There are theories that the new one may as well be the ocean floor and that Max himself may be a bit like a folk legend instead of a single person.
