I was thinking of picking up a CZ 75 SP-01, is it a good gun?
Yep, pretty good.
I got one recently. Awesome pistol.

Full-length rails, highly accurate, ergonomic. They really do feel amazing in the hand. Surprisingly rugged, also. Since the rails are full-length, there really isn't a lot of room for grit and grime to buildup in any meaningful way. They'll shoot very dirty. A lot of people baby them, considering their aesthetics and overall monetary value, but they are very dependable.
One issue is the rail being so low inside the frame, and the serrations being kind of smooth, that racking the slide is SLIGHTLY more difficult.
Also, they're big. Consider a P01 for a CC gun.
tl;dr: 9/10, buy it

debating between this and the standard 75B.

Once you buy one, you'll probably end up buying the other too.

I think once I buy my CZ-75B, I'll buy a Beretta 92fs and then come back and buy another CZ...
>>31603036
I'd go 75B first for less investment in case you find you don't like the platform and the SP-01 will feel like an upgrade later, but do whatever.
Can anyone give me a rundown of the difference between the 75 and the 75B? Is the 75 known as the "pre-B" model, or is the pre-B a third gun in that line?
>>31603869
"B" stands for "block," as in firing pin block. "Pre-B" is a collector's designation for the Model 75 in its configuration prior to the introduction of this feature (1994ish).

Yes the CZ 75A is the "pre-ban" model. Released after the Dukakis Foreign Military Import Act of 1988, Česká Zbrojovka, updated the 75B for the American market. With an enhanced finish, redesigned hammer and improved springs the 75 Model B would introduce the Western market to the stylish 9mm calibre for the first time. This was the birth of the so-called "Wonder 9's" and the advent of IDPA target shooting.
Can you handle the front not lining up and the rails sticking out the front?

How much do these things normally run? Because i hear nothing but great things about them but i don't know anybody that owns one

This.
I just wanted to point out that most of the CZ competition models, like the Shadow that is actually in OP's pic, and the first reply pic, have no firing pin block.
The base 75B has 3 built-in safety devices. Besides the firing pin block, they also have a safety stop on the hammer, and the manual safety lever. Most competition models only have one safety feature, the manual safety lever.

I'm gonna do this.
How does one even find this gun? I've checked online like monthly and it's always out of stock I don't get it. Also fuck lgs they charge ridiculous prices
>>31604372
you suck at searching then I've already found several sources with good prices on it
>tfw live in a shit state and can't even get a cz format gun without target shooter certification

They just came in stock at a few places on gunbroker a couple weeks ago.
I picked up a P09 last month to go with my 85 I bought last year. Love shooting both, great guns.
