how is something made so long ago still better than a glock and scar?

They should make stealth cargo planes

Because it was built explicitly to be out of the range of SAMs or interceptors, and to have the smallest possible radar signature; whereas modern fighters like the PAK and F-22 are limited in stealth by their inherent design and role.
>>

Because Kelly Johnson.

He ran a no nonsens shop and worked with the people who could and would deliver and the results came of course in spades.

1960: Gary Powers short down in U2
1964: Blackbird prototype (nor SR-71) test flight
1966: Blackbird hammered across the entire length of the Soviet Union and with utter impunity.

His was the era of people who delivered. It gave the US utter victory in the space race. It cemented the US technological edge for decades.

Then the rot set in and it spread somehow across the entire West.

Contrast this with the committee abomination that is F-35. A result of our times.

>>31600369
its not.

>hurr its black and has curves so it must be stealthy.

Are you the same kind of idiot that thinks the B1 is stealthy?
>>
>>31602458
rcs of the pak-fa is between 1 and1.5

sr-71 was lower

russia can't into stealth
>>
>>31602579
they dont have the materials (its a sticky market and close to all)
>>
>>31602458
Are you joking or do you actually believe what you wrote?
>>
>>31602458
It was specifically designed to have a reduced radar cross section. You're fucking dumb and you should feel bad.
>>
>>31600369
Because this thing flew really fucking fast and really fucking high up. So nothing could touch it.

Nothing has ever really matched it because of all the problems it had.
>>
>>31600369
stealth is a meme

Such as...?

such as more people not knowing how fucking cool the sr-71s were/are.
>>
>>31604347

MiG-25s managed to intercept SR-71s a few times actually.
>>
>>31604995
Fuel consumption and refueling for one.
>>
>>31606293
OK so hammering across Soviet Union starting in the UK and landing in Japan is now a problem?

Refuelling were two step before entering Soviet area and another two step before landing. The alternative being satellites is harder as satellites are predictable and refuelling satellites is limited to sci fi.

If its so stealthy then how come Viggen pilots were able to consistently lock onto it?

okay.

The SR-71 never, ever overflew the USSR. What the fuck do you think you're talking about.
