Hey, /k/

Where were you when BM59 was kill?

I was alone, at apartment, swapping plastic parts out of Beretta M9 when I heard the news

>I.O. Inc. had gotten their hands on a a bunch of BM59 part kits and they are working on building the BM59 from those with US-made barrel and receiver
>>

The honest question is, will it be salvageable for the price?

>>
>Plastic parts - M9
>what is guide rod?
>>

Got a steel parts kit for my birthday. Swapped the trigger, guide rod, and mag release. The safety is going to have to wait another day because holy shit those roll pins are tiny.
>>
>>31597646
How is Uly still in business? his AKs are toy tier garbage
>>
>>31597707
According to the same article, they're making the following changes to their AKs as well:

>Reduce barrel gas port size to that of the Polish AK blueprint
>Revised rivets in both the material it’s made from and the riveting procedures.
>Bolt CNC machined from 4140 billet steel
>New bolt carrier machining with added chamfer on the receiver rail contacts
>15% stiffer recoil spring and recoil buffer made from better material
>Solid hard pinning of all barrel components. No more using roll pins.
>Quality control improved with MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) sampling.
>In house barrel manufacturing that will be every barrel drilled, buttoned and re-contoured on CNC equipment.

I don't believe a word of it, honestly.

This is their chance at redemption. No rivets to fuck up. This will be fine.
>>
>>31597757
>U.S. made barrel and receiver
This will most certainly not be fine.
>>
>>31597790
It's basically a Garand, America made millions, everything is going to be fine, these will be quality weapons.
>>
>>31597736
>Reduce barrel gas port size to that of the Polish AK blueprint
The fact this even has to be done is nothing short of hilarious.
>>
>>31597646
They're going to fuck it up. Uly is a god damned liar about QC improvements for the AKs
>>
>>31597975
I.o. certainly was not building those nor does it care to incur the prices to tool up and produce quality of that scale ever again. You shill. If anything they'll look for the cheapest way possible and market it to fudds through the coveted nra rifleman magazine. That company needs to make a 180° turn and not be garbage.
>>
>>31597705

I like the 92 but dear god the slide has so much going on internally
>>
>>31597646
Can someone give me the lowdown on io?

Sorry if this is a dead horse but i don't know anything but whats on their web page and I was honesty thinking of getting one of their AKs.
>>
>>31598251
their ak's are considered worse than any WASR if that helps you.
>>
>>31598251
Think of a WASR c. 2005.

Now, on top of the glaring fitting issues, throw in genuine danger to the user on account of out-of-spec components.

That's I.O.
>>
>>31597646
Honestly if it wasn't it I would be happy to hear this
>>
>>31598251
Do you have extra fingers to lose? Then buy an IO AK and get rid of them and any other extra appendages you don't want!
>>
>>31597705

Off to investigate.
(92FS here)
>>
>>31598373
They're up for sale on the Beretta USA website, $74 for the kit, though.

Somehow, the metal trigger let my girlfriend manage the double action pull when she couldn't with the plastic trigger.

The new wasrs are good from what I've heard. Alternatively save your shekels and get an Npap/opap or arsenal when they're back in stock
>>
>>31597646
I.O. Inc. is getting their shit together and drilling the gas ports right now. So you can fuck off.
>>
>>31599049
>I'm not trying to defend a bad IO purchase I made honest guize
>>
>>31598998
I'm just hoping these keep under or at a grand so I can drop $300 on a gunsmith to fix whatever problems they have.

Probably be just as well buying a parts kit off aimsurplus, though.
>>
>>31599109
I'm hoping literally any other importer buys these kits from them so io doesnt have a chance to fubar these poor italian garands

Why don't you just pay for the tools once and start pressing AKs together yourself? Shit's fun.
