Try with the smaller aperture. You might just be lining the sight up incorrectly.

Is there a cant to your front sight? Are you not getting a good grip with your support hand? How consistent are your groups?

My grouping is pretty inconsistent, but I'm normally standing. I hit generally center now with this setup. I'm a well built guy, so I feel like my grip isn't the problem.

Here's a few pictures, not sure what you mean by canted, but i assume you mean the front sight is on wrong.

The front sights were part of the rifle upper kit. I bought a lower receiver kit and put it together, then added on the lowerable rear sights.

PSA upper? I've had to return one of those once for a canted front sight.

Bushmaster and DPMS are notorious for canted front sights, it's not a big deal unless your OCD is bothering.

spare a super expensive fix, can I just add a new front sight? Is that an easy thing to replace? I'm not familiar enough with the upper part.

Is your nose to the charging handle for your zero? Is your cheek weld solid?

Does the front sight look like it is inline with the bore?

Are the sights brand name and not a knockoff?

Has the rifle had the shit knocked out of it?

Is there a problem with headspace? Is the barrel nut screwed on correctly to the proper ft lb?

Are your fundamentals on point?

If you have a generally positive answer for All of those questions, it's probably just the shape of your head/chin. If there's nothing wrong with the rifle it just means you dont know enough about what you're doing to zero the gun properly ( most common problem)

If it's hitting on point, there's no problem. Work on getting your groupings tight from here. Overtime, you're cheekweld may change and you can re-zero overtime.

This is incorrect

Sight in your rifle from a prone position. This will allow you more consistent grouping, especially at 100 yards. Any movement from that far away is multiplied because of the distance.

Don't worry about how far to the left the sight is, everyone's body (head size, cheek fattiness, eye position) is different thus the need for adjustable sights.

I would say to do it sandbagged from a bench.

Best zero is 36 yds confirmed at 300, followed by 50 yds confirmed at 200.

I'm the guy that said it was backwards, and it's no problem, easy fix. That being said, the front sight could be canted to the left, a bit, maybe a degree. But that's not usually a big deal either. If you don't want to live with it, return it, it's too hard for most ppl to do without metalworking equipment and holding jigs.

It being backwards won't effect it's ability to hold a zero unless it was otherwise fucked up.

Okay, thanks for the advice, I flipped the sights, I also put on a red dot scope, but i might have to get lower able front sights. Since the front sights block the entire scope.
