You are a (((freedom fighter))) for the Calphi U'l Cilahed Kinbarheed squad, a group of moderate Muslims who have taken hostage a bunch of whiteys to show the world how rational and normal they are.
Unfortunately your reasonable demands for a new Muslim state from Mecca to everywhere else have been rejected by the western infidels and now they are sending in their tier one operatives to ensure that every hostage leaves alive and you don't. What are you dreading the most that could abseil through that window?

Sometimes you just can't save them all. Look at the picture. It's graphic, I'm sorry. The belt is so-called "Shahid-belt" - suicide bomb. How much TNT it has - 2,3 kilos? Just on this bomb could kill a lot of people. Sometimes you can't take out these suiciders at once and that's it. Russia faced suicide terrorists fare earlier than West. You still underestimate the problem. And Anon, when you write Russian CT forces carpet bomb everything - you don't know shit, Anon.

You have to consider the situation relative to what HRT faces. Most of the time it's 1 or 2 hurka durkas in an urban area.

I would say the west has long history of successful work on airliners that could be compared.
But I'm saying it's an attitude the threshold for acceptable loses is very different.

not me, but it's just bantz and memes
>>31601509
In all airline situations the bad guys were no more 10 people, armed assault rifles at most. When you face a suicide team of 40 people with RPGs, ATGMs, machine guns and hell lot of explosives - situations may...vary.

Western special forces never faced a situation comparable to Beslan and Nord Ost, not only in the number of hostages involved, but in the fact that in both incidents the buildings had been heavily fortified and rigged with explosives, and there were dozens of extremely well armed hostage takers who already knew they were going to die beforehand.
Tbh, the whole "Russians don't care about hostages" thing is just a shitty meme. In Beslan Alfa were literally shielding children with their bodies. 12 of them died for christs sake. You think that would have happened if they had just focused entirely on eliminating the terrorists without regard to the hostages safety?
>>31606337
>No brass deflector
>Early style forward assist

While there are examples of A1 uppers on A2 receivers, that is definitely an M16A1.

What's with the spooky draped mesh masks?

>>31608961
Beslan was, for the reasons you mentioned, a very fucked situation from the beginning. The question becomes less "how do keep the hostages alive?" and more"how many hostages can we realistically rescue?"
>>31606056
You don't. PVS-7s are really hard to aim with and provide zero depth perception.
As for those NODs, they're old as hell. A little digging around on google revealed that they're Baird GP/NVG-1s, which (apparently) predate the AN/PVS-7 so we're talking 80s here. A1s were still pretty commonplace back then and were only just starting to be replaced in the US armed forces by the A2, so it makes sense for another NATO country to still be using A1s.
I'm stumped by who they exactly are though. Your image comes up as JTF2, but it also comes up as SAS which is also believable since both were still wearing DPM at the time.
I REALLY want to say SAS though since there's pictures of SAS Scud Hunters using A1s and ALICE. JTF2 would probably be using C7s by then, and those would be identifiable since they're A1 uppers with A2 handguards, which those obviously are not.
Sorry, I can't keep my autism contained with this kind of stuff.

Not so much from the gas but from improper practices of the EMTs on the scene. Placing the unconscious people in such a way that their tongues rolled back and blocked their airways. Not only that, but some other people died after arriving at the hospital because the FSB refused to reveal the type of gas they used in the operation, meaning medical staff didn't know how to treat the victims. Neither of those are Alfa's fault though.
Honestly though, even with these unfortunate consequences, the gas was by far the best technique Alfa could have employed. Think about it, 130 dead hostages and no fatalities among the special forces officers, or 916 dead hostages and the entire assaulting unit wiped out because the terrorists set off their bombs? Which do you think is the better outcome?

As I recall a big problem was that many passed out on their backs, so they choked on their own tongues. Still better than *all* of them being killed by the bombs though.
>>31611348
Yeah this. Also, some of the hostages had choked by the time anyone got there, so even perfect knowledge for the EMTs wouldnt have stopped all deaths.
