Problem is that you can't defeat the indoctrinated ones in college. The only ones you have hope for are the naturally curious or people who at least want to be aware of the other argument. Even then you have to offer a competing pro-gun social group for them to belong to.

I had CA college friends in engineering school that I talked with and took shooting a few times. None of them own guns or have since expressed an interest. They're still super anxious whenever the subject comes up.

They really believe what your professor is saying. That guns only kill people, killing people is universally bad, and in a civil society weapons have no place (except cops).

It's like having a family member with dimensia. Feed them, be nice, and live your life knowing their recovery can't be counted on.

This is how I got such an excellent grade in my sociology course: I just gave the most SJW answers I could conjure.

These difference between these rifles and what you'd consider an assault rifle is the full auto capability. Which may be noticeable if you're trying to suppress enemy troops, but pretty irrelevant if you're trying to actually kill anyone, since that means you have to hit.

I enjoyed seeing the other ways of looking at things, and that helps you either rethink what you thought, or to refine it as you get more information. I got a good bit out of my experience, but I didn't change personally or start thinking that BLM was somehow a legitimate organization, or that there are more than two genders.

EVERY time the teacher or student would get uncomfortable and shuffle their feet because they realized they said something stupid but didn't realize it was their entire fucking spiel.

The vets were good vets, who didn't parade their service or make a big stink about the fact they served, but later on in the semester they realized their former rank made them "experts" in the professors' eyes on the subject of weapons.
