alright guys, so i've run into a slight problem. I want to build a vietnam era/style m16a1. Im not really picky about historical accuarcy or anything, I just want to overall look (triangle handguns, stock, etc.) Now, I was originally planning on picking up a cheap Anderson lower and one of those a1 uppers from brownells. However, it seems that Brownells is claiming that their upper receive doesn't fit anderson lowers due to the depth of the rear lug or something. So, anybody know where else I can get a A1 upper?

I'm sketching out the same sort of build (although I am actually aiming for 100% historical accuracy barring the trigger group). Why not just use a NoDak Spud or Brownells A1 lower?
Personally, my plan for the lower is actually to use a NoDak 80%, so that I can match the finish on my parts kit and get it engraved with correct rollmarks.

my local ffl was kind enough to hook me up with a deal, 2 anderson lowers for $40 bucks. i just didnt want to pass up the offer. Anyone know where I can get the upper?

I want an AR-10 that looks like an M16A1. Pretty sure those triangle handguards wouldn't fit on an AR-10, so I guess I'm pretty fucked in that department.
The reason I want it in an AR-10 platform is because I figure if I'm going with 20 round mags I might as well get the max potential out of it, as I don't really care for 5.56/.223 and I won't be varmint hunting or going full-auto so it wouldn't matter. Also because my other battle rifle (PTR) already has a nice scope and bipod for DMR setup and I want a battle rifle with some irons so I might as well go with the good ol' gookblaster.
