The C79 has a different reticle to the M145

The MG and M4 reticles are almost the same out to 800m, which I won't be shooting. Plus it's designed to be dual-purpose for M240/M249. The M249 has an 18 inch barrel and the ballistics are gonna be almost the same as my 16".

I don't see why a 249 version wouldn't work on an AR, though. You've got some extra clutter that you probably don't need, but the base ballistics should be close enough that rounds will land on target at the ranges OP is likely to use it at. I'm no expert in these optics, though, so maybe there's something I'm not considering.
