I've been pretty curious about this thing too. It seems like a damn cool and useful idea.

MAC had one on a gun in a recent video, and didn't talk about but said a review was coming soon. I'll be interested to see what he has to say about it.
>>
>>31584179
Apparently this thing is super fast at acquiring targets at range. You eye can more or less drill down with the dot then you are very close with the magnified scope but i have never even seen one in person.

Thought they were vaperware for a long time but it seems like a genuine new idea for an optic.
>>
...but why is it to the side like that
>>
>>31584179
Its a concept piece.
It hasn't been sold much or copied for a reason

Make sense yet?
>>
At $1500 it will remain a unicorn
>>
How is that any different as using a scope/red dot combo, appart having to deal with the offset to the side?

Fun facts: if you have Insurgency there is a workshop mod to try it out.
>>
>>31585731
The magnified lent is angled so thatyou can watch both glasses without moving your head.
>>
>>31585705
Looks like they took a long scope and shortened it by adding in mirrors, like astronomy telescopes commonly do.

How close was i?
>>
>>31585749
>>
>>31585689
Mirrors. It's bouncing the light in a Z shape through the lenses.

Some telescopes do this to increase the distance between one lens and another, without making the actual telescope longer.

Some optometrists have a similar setup where the letter chart you're reading is bounced off two mirrors before the light reaches your eye, so they can simulate 40 ft or whatever it is in a smaller room.

Not sure if they're doing it for the same reason on that optic, just trying to describe how it works being offset like that.

>>31585767
Shit that's cool.

That is fascinating. I have been contemplating for awhile how a mirror lens work and look mounted on as a site. In the photography world, mirror lenses are a fun gimmick, although they have several downsides preventing them from taking off they provide large magnification in a small package while almost completely eliminating chromatic aberration. I'd bet shooters don't care about aberration but the OPs pic is even smaller than I would have guessed. The only problem is I am not sure how hard it is to make quality curved mirrors.

>>31585785
Can you join regular servers while using mods in insurgency? I'd like to try that out.

Leupold needs a logo redesign. Those product markings makes that optics look cheap as fuck.
>>
>>31586078
>>31586085
is it any good though?

I'm about to blow you faggots' minds.

Check out this identical thread from roughly a year ago.

Same fucking posts and all.
>>31586078
>>31586085

I suspect that angled mirrors were used.
>>
>>31586078
God that sight picture bugs the fuck out if me
>>
>>31586118
If I were to guess, no. They look cheesy and flimsy.

>>31586134
Do you wanna know the hilarious part? I have absolutely no way to prove it, but I was also that guy in that thread too. I remember posting that.
>>
>>31585673
Way too bulky.
>>
>>31586152
So could you say it tiggers you?
>>
>>31586155
Nah, I believe it.
>>
>>31586157
An acog+dot or specter+dot is much higher. A traditional optic+45°dot is much bulkier.
>>
>>31586072
Yes.

I was making a joke about the duplicate threads, but okay, thanks for adding to it.
>>

>>31585706
People pay that, and much more, all the time.
>>
>>31586788
This. There are people on this board with $7,000 ARs. People are more than willing to spend large sums of money on things that they think are worth that much.
>>
>>31586169
It's a stupid visual, not a traumatic experience from ones childhood. The 'murrica version looks like dogshit on the outside, but the actual sight picture doesn't look like a smudge on sunglasses either. The Rus version is slimmer but the magnified portion being smaller is gay and the 1:1 is intrusive. Body looks pretty UTG tier too.

Glad they're trying though
>>
>>31587048
It's not even that much for an optic. Shit I was about to drop more on a Swarovski until I saw they didn't have what I wanted.
>>
>>31585631
>>31585689
it's a periscope ... scope. You pair it with an unmagnified optic or red dot. The view goes under the view of your red dot. So you can have magnified and unmagnified without turning dials or flipping up a magnifier.
