Alright, for real, a Lee Enfield Mk.III*, No.4, or No.5. The bolt so smooth, it's almost like bridging the gap between bolt action and semi-auto. If I could only own one rifle for the rest of my life, it'd probably be a No.4.

I prefer handguns because my bad eyesight is less of a handicap at typical handgun ranges and they take much less of an investment for a typical range session. It's a real shame too, rifles are very cool and undeniably more powerful...they're just a much bigger pain in the ass to set up and shoot.

Shotguns are probably most satisfying when using targets like tin cans and shit

Handguns are probably most satisfying for honing skill in accuracy and speed due to difficulty

Rifles are somewhere in between and fun all around

You can get leather G3 slings though; they were Bundeswehr standard for many years. I got one that was un-issued but it had dry-rot, so I stole the clip for this sling and the buckle for a chest rig.

Of guns that I own? My Vepr-12. It's an AK and it's a shotgun, and the ergos and sights work perfectly for me.

For most fun: GPMG or LMG that uses full power rifle rounds, must be with a bipod. Bit of recoil, but usually very controllable and what is there not to like in full-auto. Admitted might be due to being somewhat of a novelty, that is only available for me maybe once or twice a year.

Although long range rifle shooting with iron sights is pretty Zen as well.

Rifles.
The only reason shotguns almost made it to the top of the list is the vepr12. But they are pretty fun regardless because of the clay sports.
Handguns are a very distant 3rd, not a lot of fun per dollar spent. They're ok, but not worth it when other guns cost about the same to shoot.
