Just picked up å g33/40 today
Its missing the sight hood, Cleaning rod and sling
Probably gonna get some repro shit and skap on there untill I can find some original parts.
The sighthood especially is a bitch to find.
Also milsurp rifles general i guess

>>31577887
Litt stivt, men greit nok
Ka ammo ska du broka?
>>31577868
It looks like it's been refinished
>>31577907
its got its original walnut stock. all matching except for the bolt, but some came from factory with mismatched bolts, I'll have to look into that.
the best of these guns were picked up by the norwegian police possibly refinished and put into storage.
>>31577895
bilr nok selleri og gullerot ja
gidder ikke kjore no korrosiv milsurp ammo. har skutt en med tyrkerammo, å fytti hælvete å det gjor vondt i skuldra
Gotta love dem eagles
>>31577986
Your not going to believe what I am telling you and are going to be in denial about it, but those are fake and the stock has been refinished.
How much did you pay?
The bolt is from the right year. And is numbered å little earlier than the rifle.
Since its a 1940 gun i doubt it came mismatched from factory.
Most likely a Herman replacement or possibly å police replacement.
Wfa 63 is Brno. And m3 is some batch number thing
>>31578005
450 dolaridos. Dude i dont think people Are bothering refinishing these in norway. Especially not the ones marked politi.
I don't have much on my phone. But I will contribute my Pattern 1858 Enfield.
And have a Martini-Henry Mk2 as well.
>>31578005
but yeah, I cant seem to find any pictures of the 3 wfa 63 markings on g33/40 stocks, so if you know what to look for please tell me.

Nice little carbine. It's interesting that there were enough G.33/40 left behind in your country for it to become a police service rifle.
>>31578363
yeah we had alot of gebirgsjaegers stationed here, I've heard there were around 13000 rifles that were used after the war by various people.
norwegian trains actually carry a completely original g33/40 with no post ww2 markings, to kill off run over wildlife.
they're still pretty rare compared to the over hundred thousands k98ks that were left here
First gun I bought, what do you think, k?
>>31579720
what year is it?
I see it has the stamped front band, so its gotta be pretty late war right?
>>31580755
It's stamped "bnz 4" so it's a 44. I can post more pics if anyone is interested
1952 H&R CMP M1 Garand reporting in.
>>31579720
Bretty gud.
>>31581589
Is that from WWI? How do you like it/have you shot the Kurz before and if so what are some of the differences
>>31581733
Haven't shot it yet; the stock has a couple cracks in the wrist that need repairing before I do so. Also the firing pin tip has been clipped off; this may have been one of the "War Bond" captured rifles given away as prizes on the US home-front during WW1. I don't have high hopes for it though; the bore is pitted and frosted throughout.
I do have another long Mauser 98 8x57 rifle that is my "shooting Mauser" (pic related), and there's really very little difference compared to shooting one of the short rifles. The rear sight zero being the most obvious difference; starting at 400m isn't very convenient. Short rifles are also a little easier to wield because they're slightly lighter and their center of gravity more toward the rear.
>>31577868
Looking for a cheap Mauser. ~$300 preferred. Have no clue what to look for in a Mauser, have collected Mosins for years. Does the same routine of checking for matching serials, stock condition, bore condition, rust, etc apply? What else is important to Mausers specifically? What chambering is best? I am thinking either a Yugo M48 or a Turkish Mauser as they're in my price range. Possibly Spanish (they look different, are they good/bad?) Not looking for a collectible, just looking for a good shooter.
MFW I have no clue about these guns but /k/ made me want one.
>>31583552
>Does the same routine of checking for matching serials, stock condition, bore condition, rust, etc apply?
Yes. Check out the Military Mausers forum on Gunboards for a couple stickied threads showing numerous Mauser models and their markings.
>What chambering is best?
8x57 is most widely available.
>I am thinking either a Yugo M48 or a Turkish Mauser as they're in my price range.
Either are good. Turks are usually quite cheap because they were so well-used for so long, though they can still be quite good shooters. Yugoslavian rifles were often refurbished multiple times during their service life, and were well-maintained in storage after the Yugos adopted 7.62x39mm.
>Possibly Spanish (they look different, are they good/bad?)
Not really bad, but Spain had 7x57mm and 8x57mm rifles at various times. The Spanish M93-based models are older, and saw a lot of use, especially during the Spanish Civil War. They switched to 8x57 in 1943, so their M98-based Mausers in 8x57 are usually in good condition because they didn't see much combat, and are cheap because of same.
>Not looking for a collectible, just looking for a good shooter.
What should I check before buying a SMLE?
Which models are best for first time SMLE purchase?
Same as Nugget? (Bore, matching part, crown.)
>>31581304
that's a really nice stock
>>31583952
Hey, thanks for the detailed answer! I think I'll check out a Turkish Mauser on sale near me (going for $275). If it's in poor condition I might just go for a Yugo for a little more. Thanks again!
>>31584510
Here's a couple pages detailing various Ottoman Empire/Turkish Republic Mauser models; the vast majority you'll encounter will be re-built to the 1930s standard chambered in 8x57mm.

While WaA63 is probably the most faked stamp, 945/DOT used that on G33/40s.
My latest.

Turk M38/46 Short Rifle
Local fun store has a Brazilian Mauser thats ugly as hell for 180$.. Should I?
>>31584940
For that price I assume bubba raped her?
>>31584940
What model and caliber, and is it still in military trim?
How much does a decent m1903a3 Springfield cost? Preferably one with a higher serial number, for quality.
>>31585361
A3s are all high numbers. You need to do more research before you buy something like this.
>>31584990
Nope its legit.
>>31585021
Its the 8mm, didn't get a good look at the numbers, guessing sometime in the 1930's.
>>31585567
Alright thanks, do you know the average price that someone might sell one for?
>>31585743
<Its the 8mm
Brazilian Mausers were all 7x57mm; the only countries in Latin America that used any 8x57mm Mausers were Ecuador and Nicaragua.
I think my Type 38 is from the Mukden Arsenal from around 1934 or 1934.
If any of you dudes know more about this I'd appreciate your opinion and will post the serial# and marks
>>31586611
post it
>>31586679
Here's the serial
>>31586712
And a few other marks near the mum that I have no idea about
>>31586712
That serial number places it around late 1942/early 1943. Hoten Arsenal (Mukden is the Chinese name) was still making Type 38s very late into the war.
The stock has been sanded and refinished, unfortunately.
>>31586719
Those are just various inspection stamps.
>>31586816
I thought the stock may have been restained sometime between capture and when I inherited it, bore is bright and everything else is smooth and tight. I was always told my great-grandfather captured it during his tour in the Pacific.
Speaking of Spanish Mausers: First functioning rifle, model 1895 cavalry carbine.
>>31577986
Stock was refinished by the Norwegians so technically correct nor is it fake.
>>31584813
Yeah waa63 is Brnos stamp. As i Said nobidy bothers faking mausers in norway. Except sniper variant. We,re literally knee deep in en here.
>>31581589
I love that Turkish ammo. 70 years old runs flawlessly in my m48
>>31586890
Neat.
My two turks, dark one is a 1903 with 1926 stamped receiver, other one is an absolutely flawless, unfired, screw-heads-still-peened 1942 k.kale. mirror bright bore on both, haven't taken the 42 out yet but the 1903 is a tack driver
>>31589425
>>31589434
Soooo anyone Else from scandinavian wanna start a milsurp association. You know linda like action western but with ww1/2 guns.
I really need an excuse to get me one og these carbines
Should I sell my type 53 meme nugget and get a m48a yugo mauser?
Bought the 53 in 2014 for $99, but missed out on the cheap ammo, never shot it. Any idea how much I could get for it?
Online I could probably get a m48a for $300 after fees and such. Ammo seems like a problem though, seems like steel cased 8mm is pretty off and on production wise. This stuff says it's works for post ww2 bore demensions, but I heard it doesn't work m48's (post war but captured tooling iirc).
Would it be worth it to try and find some reloading equipment so I could get into 8mm mauser?
>>31590244
forgot the link to the ammo
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/mauser-8x57mm-js-323-bore-non-wwii-dimensions-fmj-170-grain-20-rounds?a=1741208
also I could live with a single stage press, I don't plan on opening an ammo factory so I could live with being slower at reloading.
>>31590258
Yeah a single stage press is good enough for a bolt action.
>>31590258
Whoa I had no idea 8mm mauser were that expensive over the pond. I can get brass cased 196 grain for the same price
>>31590258
That Romanian shit is garbage
If you're going to buy commercial 8mm, stick to S&B and PPU (and Hornady, if you find some)
>>31590244
where do you live?
Does anyone have opinions on J&G Sales 1916 Spanish Mausers? They look pretty rough, and have had their markings removed. Would it be worth getting?
http://www.jgsales.com/spanish-1916-mauser-bolt-action-short-rifle,-7x57,-good-condition,-used.-p-80642.html
Also they have ones in 7.62x51, is it safe to use modern ammo in them? I thought I read a while ago that the Spanish FR8 had trouble with new 7.62x51 ammo.
>>31590713
What's wrong with Romanian 8mm?
>>31593767
Not very accurate, and can cause sticky bolt.
>>31593767
They won't let the bolt close unless you force it. Google it.
>>31593070
Fr7 was the problem I thought. Not the fr8
>>31577868
Whoa neger hold opp.
Har vi milsurp i norge??
Hvor leiter jeg??
Picked this up for $130 at the gun shop on Monday.
>>31598747
Well, that's a steal if I ever heard of one.
>>31598747
I want to have your LGS. Mines prices hover around what you would find online, with the occasional deal here and there. They have a Turkish Mauser in there for $220. Not sure if I want to get it or not. Its in decent condition.
>>31598776
Yeah, especially since the barrel and bore are still mirror sharp.
>>31598865
I love my LGS. They're willing to bargain on things and they've got incredibly fair prices. They also are very fair on the suggested prices of consignment guns ($500 for 1st gen Mini-14, for example).

Men herregud å mann. Var jo 300000 tyskere her. Som la igjen utstyret sitt.
Du finner mausere, krager, garander, us karabin, colter, c96er, p08 og p38er overalt.
Sjekk finn. Eller local gunstore. Alt jeg nevnte utenom garander og c96 får du under 5000 typ
