Hey /k/
I want to build something like this (Pretty serious here, I want to get it started within the next 5 years)
What vehicle should I base it off?
I live in Australia so we've got a vast selection of fourbys, currently preferring an older style of Landcruiser due to their simplicity.
Does anyone here have experience with custom automotives and metal fabrication who's able to lend some sage advice on fitting a big chunks of steel to something not designed for it?

I'm also doing a mini dump of neat armoured vehicles ITT

Withcan 20mm gun and an .50bmg this would be an awesome killdozer.
2000 rounds for the .50 and 600 rounds for the 20mm.
Also filled with 300kg of explosive for last stand

What if I just want to drive around town in a stallhelm instead?

No turret, and more importantly, no engine.
Looks like an old hulk towed out onto the Range and being used as a testfiring mount.
We should just make an open source tank. Hobbyists could probably make something comparable to a T-55.

>open source tank
Yes please

Boring....

An old landrover defender should also do the trick.

You can actually find armoured vehicles around quite easily
After ww2 alot of farmers up north brought them to use on cattle stations
There was a British one on auction here in Perth about a year ago too, can't remember what make

Seems to have been real though.
>This study resulted in a prototype vehicle, the 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage T53, which placed the 90 mm gun in an open mounting at the rear of an M4 Sherman chassis. In August 1942, it was agreed to immediately produce 500 vehicles, with 3,500 more later. The Tank Destroyer Force objected, arguing that the design of the T53 was too rushed. The 90 mm Gun Motor Carriage T53E1 proved to be even worse, and the entire contract was canceled.
