when will Sukhoi discover actual s-ducts instead of minor bends?

then why have they never produced one?

Will Murica ever discover stealth?
>>
>>31555727
Right after Russia makes an engine that lasts longer than 20 minutes.
>>
>>31555727
This is more humillating for Russia though. They had the technology for 10 years, they did absolutely nothing with it, they didn't even aknowledge how important this could be. Because of that, later they published it in a public paper and basically gifted it to America, making the F-117 project extremely cheap for how effective it was. Absolutely pathetic tbqh senpai.

is it a slight curve?
>>
>>31557733
That is irrelevent as the aircraft is subsonic.
Actually, let's back up. Do you know what an S-duct is, and why it is difficult to produce?
>>
>>31558077
Su-47 is supersonic.
>>
>>31558132
That's not an Su-47.
>>
>>31555387
Su-47 had really S-ducts, but it was soviet project, NOT Russian there's difference between Russia and Soviet Union when the fuck you kids will learn.

Soviet Union was rich as fuck and also full of great crazy scientists.
Russia is a slavic shithole that without stuff they inherited from the union, they would be nothing right now.

Designed and built in Russia by a Russian for Russians in a Russian design bureau named after a Russian.

Not in this case.

Bitch, please. You don't even seem to know what the fuck was the Soviet Union, how did it appear and what the fuck is RSFSR. Read a book.

>>
>>31555338
Never ever. It's a lost art.
>>
>>31558201
No, the photo's fine. It's the aircraft that's the problem. It's a subsonic trainer, not an Su-47, what I think >>31558132 was alluding to.
Since it's subsonic the intake doesn't have to deal with shockwaves, etc.
>>

>And? Both have s-ducts and Su-47 is supersonic. You argument is irrelevant.
...so you don't know what an S-duct is, then?
The point of an S-duct is to hide the fan blades (the highest RCS part of the engine) from a frontal radar emitter. I couldn't immediately find a frontal profile on google images, but look how the duct on the bottom profile only moves over about 1/2 of the width of the engine. You can still see the fan blades from the front. Compare that to:
>>
>>31558337
Second message as in second response. Playing stupid won't get you anywhere.
>>
>>31558347
>Su-47 doesn't have s-ducts because muh feels
Bitch, please. Try harder.
>>
>>31558347
This. Notice how from the front the only thing you can see is the inside of the duct curving inwards and the hidden fan blades. The difficulty is not the bending itself, but the sharp angle necessary to actually hide the blades.

They are not investing in stealth because they know it will become obsolete with next generation of radiooptical radars and lidars.

As much as I'd love a game of yah-huh nuh-uhh, I have better things to do. Tell you what, since nobody can seem to a clean frontal profile of the berkut, and we can't see the fan, I'll concede the point.
>>
>>31558797
>masked
It's not masked if it is visible for anything that is not a single lone radar.
>>
>>31558812
Man, no one needs a clean frontal profile, you cant have this setup with engines close together, intakes far apart and landing gear wells right at the point where the intake starts to bend without having an S-duct. Its an airplane, not a tardis.

Physics says that's the only band that provides an ideal blend of resolution, portability, and three-axis location capability.

All this crap about "stealth being made irrelevant" is pure sour grapes posting. Even with theoretical advances reducing effectiveness, the VLO plane will always be harder to detect and track than a larger RCS aircraft.
>>
>>31558894
Bistatic radar: resolution, portability, three-axis location capability, zero difference between stealth and non-stealth aircraft.
>>
>>31558850
Don't forget old wide weapon bay it had before they installed the narrow one for PAK FA that overlaps with the intakes too.

If Stealth were really that threatened pursuit of it would just dead-end, just like turbo-prop fighters in the jet age. But it's not. Everybody's pursuing the attempt to try to catch up to the US' 30+ year lead in the technology. Nobody has demonstrated any kind of radar advancements that render it useless. And if you believe people who say they have, I've got a bridge to sell you.

>Nobody has demonstrated any kind of radar advancements that render it useless.
>The radar system, part of a project known as PHODIR (Photonics-based fully digital radar) is an effort to improve the tracking and speed calculation abilities of current electronic signal based systems. It's well understood that making improvements in such a system will require higher frequency signals, something that can't be done with current systems due to an increase in noise that creates more uncertainty in the signals received. For that reason, scientists have been looking to use lasers—such signals are much more stable.

If you're close enough to use that why not just use, say, a high resolution IR camera that can pick up the thermal contrast better and...wait, that exists already, it's called IRST.
