Lol would be a hilarious CC. I wonder what the spread is like on a barrely that short. Would probably be to dangerous to fire as a CC if there's anyone else nearby.
ive got a bubbad mosin but no pics.
its a romanian m44 (or whatever their model designation for this rifle is).
i got it for free. it came to me missing the bayo, ati stock, ati chopped bolt handle (the guy didnt cut it flush so it sits kind of off. the crevice was filled with hot glue), and the receiver was drilled and tapped for what im assuming was an ati scope rail.
barrel is roached so i chopped it down to 17" and threaded it with a TAT die. i then put a cnc warrior brake on it and replaced the rear sight with a pic rail for a red dot.
i did all of this, because fuck it.
I win, right?

I saw this at the flea market on saturday, remington 7400.
My grandpa left me his Pre 64 Model 70 when he died, it's a Mauser G33/40 converted to be left handed, placed in a Model 70 featherweight stock and it has an old Leupold scope on it. Shoots real nice though.

>>31547791
IMO, I don't judge well-done sporterizations. You're talking about a time period where it wasn't uncommon to take your service rifle home into your own possession, and the extra barrel protection and weight from the handguards was unnecessary. The logical choice in order to better tailor the weapon to put food on the table would be to remove weight without concern to the uniqueness of the gun, especially when at the time the rifle would be ubiquitous.
To do so in the current day would be ridiculous obviously, given the low price of adequate hunting rifles and the limited number of original-condition military surplus. But if the job was done back in the 50's or earlier, I have no reason to get upset over it because I probably would've done the same in those circumstances back then.
>>31546187

Since there were only 2800 P38k's made, even fewer imported and less than that surviving, it would've been a sin to cerakote and carry it like I do this.

Agreed. There are actually some beautiful sporterized guns made back when surplus military guns were literally $10 apiece at the local hardware store. You could pick up an old 1903 Springfield or SMLE from western Auto for ten bucks and pay a gunsmith another thirty to put a nice sporter stock and scope on it and have a rifle that was just as accurate and arguably just as pretty as a $100 hunting rifle for a little more than a third of the cost.
Bubbaing is taking a perfectly functional rifle, usually military surplus, and fucking it all to Hell, then wanting more than you paid for it. What constitutes Bubbaing is somewhat subjective, but there's caomofalge or plastic on a 40+ year old military rifle, it's been Bubbaed.
Pic related. The M1 purist would likely be having a meltdown at this picture, but it's obvious that there was real skill and craftsmanship in turning a military rifle into a reliable, functional and, dare I say it, pretty, hunting rifle. You may not like it, but this gun was not Bubbaed.
>>31552602
Aren't those things supposed to be unsafe to fire?

Springfield Armory produced a commercial Garand with a cast receiver up to 2008, i think. They ran about $1000 to $1300. They started making the Garand receivers about the same time they brought out the M1A, so I would gues they started making them about 1974. They stopped whem you could get a CMP Rack grade gun for $450. I imagine they start back up when the CMP finally runs out in a year or two.
The CMP John C Garand Memorial Games have a provision for commercial Garands in a separate division from the genuine milsurp guns.
I remeber on one forum one guy had a "D Day commemorative" Garand that the group figured out was a rather garish commercial model with a cast reciver that he had been gifted. It had a varnished stock, gold plating and all kinds of ridiculous faggotry. Since its dubious collector value was ruined by having been shot before he got it, he was shooting the hell out of it and enjoying it.

Here's the 2004 D Day commemorative Garand by Springfield Armory. It's a cast receiver commercial model. This isn't as garish as the one the other guy I was talking about had. It was probably an earlier commemoration.
>>31564738
Had to go a Googling, but here's a commemorative rifle similar to the one the guy on the forum had. I tried looking through the archives, but the post was a couple of years ago. this is pretty close, though.
>>31564711
Correction, Springfield armory started commercial production of new M1 Garands in 1982.

Because some old firearms enthusiast's eyes went bad and he liked the art of firearms use more than the art of firearms craftsmanship.
I can respect something minimalist and purely functional like this.

not very much. the shotgun slug(god why)/pellets are only accelerating for the length of the shell.

By definition yes. But your pic related doesn't show any receiver modifications. The barrel is probably a criterion or other commercial made option, stock is obviously custom made and not a butchered soldier.
Overall i find it very tasteful while still being true to the original design. The receiver and triggergroup could be reinstalled back in M1 configuration.
I personally dont view stock swaps and rechamberings bubbas if original equipment is unmodified and original parts kept if available.
The problems arise with certain rifles like Arisakas, the Johnson above, and any military rifle really, that the original rifle was complete as issued and permanent modifications were subjected to it, forever removing their value, history, parts. No new parts are being produced for these outside a very niche subgroup (like garands and springs/firing pins)
If you take a bare Mauser, Mosin, or Enfield receiver and completely custom make it into whatever fudd gun you want nobody will care and you may get compliments because no original parts were damaged or rendered unfit for duty (if you don't bubba the receiver for a scope mount)
>>31546128
so, like when you fire this thing you can see the unfolded ends of your shells right?
>>31546643
I actually really respect shit like this. Provided the condition was brought up from the level of non-functioning and not brought down for "muh 'pocalypse vidya" looks from pristine, this redneck rigging is cool.
>>31548013
these are both awesome. is the enfield .308?
>>31568785
could be the top one isn't an original enfield though it's a new gibbs rifle company made one.

You see hans, when nose in front of block, bolt shoots you in face.

7.62x51 and .308 are the same and can be used interchangeably.

I have one, its .308

Fr7 based off 2 lug Mauser action - 7.62x51 is fine, .308 won't KB your gun but it will fuck up your locking lugs after a while. FR8 is 3 lugs, is fine for both.
>>31546024
That would be neat if he didn't fuck up a real rifle to make it. Like if that was made from scratch it would be ok.

Still better than a Tavor.
>>31568710
What's going on here
>>31571089
I think all .308s can shoot 7.62x51, but not all 7.62x51s can shoot .308. Just like any 5.56 can shoot .223, but not all .223s can handle 5.56.
>>31555731
no, it's bubbaed, that's finished with so many layers of polyurethane that i could shave in the reflection, it's a fine stock aside from that but damn
>>31575769
durrin WW2 some of the more under equip countries and local fighters recognized a need for a machine gun but had no way of getting or manufacturing one, so they converted bolt action rifles into lmg's by tapping the barrel for a gas port and running an operating rod with a cam to the bolt handle. New Zealand was pretty notable for this
>>31576064
That's interesting, thanks. Seeing as how I have a few m95/30's I might see if I can find plans
>>31552298
you're a fucking idiot
Everyone said the same thing to original Colt 1911s and 1903s after WW2 and now look how expensive they are
>>31549310
>her
>>31545955
To bubba a weapon is... It's when you take a weapon, especially a cheap milsurp rifle, and fuck it all to shit with cheap, poorly-installed accessories and/or really badly sporterize it. Tapco tacticool stock on an SKS? Bubbs. Mosin very poorly drilled/tapped for a scope? Bubba. Even worse is when a weapon becomes so badly bubba'd as to be entirely unrecognizable.
>>31549644
Send the idea to him, at least as a joke for his other channel. He might do it
>>31575898
.308 and 7.62x51 do have a slight difference but unlike 5.56 it isn't significant enough to make a difference. and even the 5.56/.223 thing is not really important with modern rifles as they are almost universally chambered for 5.56 in order to make use of both, and even then it really only ever affected bolt actions in the chambering as they did not have an operating system either gas or recoil driven that would soak up the difference.

Wrong FR8 were reused mauser systems from the spanish army. With cut stocks, steyr made barrels and a piece of metal welded inside the mag well (for the shorter 308). Also some polish mauser small parts which were gathered by germans during ww2 and sent to spain. This gun is a bubbad k98.
>Fun fact: FR8 = Fusil Reformado 8 = Rifle Reformed (from old k98) 8
There is also a FR7: remade from the even older spanish mauser systems.

>>31570471
The gun should have a CIP stamp at the bolt and barrel. The CIP makes no difference inbetween 308 and 7.62x51. You wont find a 300 AAC in Europe, only 300 Whisper but the 300 Whisper is made to take very high gas pressures for >sonic rounds. Thats why 308=7.62x51 and 300AAC=300Whisper are the same in Europe and guns intended for civil use must get cip stamped. So if yours is, you can shoot it.
