Old thread died and I had something for y'all. Long story short, I got a bonus at work and I've got $700 (maybe 800 we'll see) to spend on a new gun.

I was gonna get a S&W 586 with a 6 in barrel, but figured since election season was right around the corner itd be a good idea to grab another AR and magazines or something else that is gonna become unobtanium for the next few months. I was looking at the MP15 sport II, but wanted input on anything up to $800 as well.

As a side note: I'm moving in the next few days so I want to avoid ordering online or building (already built before anyway).
>>
>>31544672

I would get the AR if I were you.

Can I have a single shot 12 gauge with an 18 inch barrel but an overall length less than 26 inches?

What if it came from the factory this way?
>>
>>31544779
Any particaly recommendations?

Also, you talking about 18 inch with a pistol grip? Mossberg sells their "persuader" which is considered a pistol I believe, so go for it?

Is this a factory coloring for the 10/22, or something someone did on their own?

I picked it up for $20 at a gun show, guy selling it tried to tell me it was a special edition factory color.
>>
>>31544779
Pretty much hard no on the less than 26 inches bit. I wanna say there are a few specifically exempted shotguns from way back in the day, but don't recall what they are. You can do less than 18" and a "arm brace" like that Black Aces DT thing.
>>
>>31545228
There have been so many special edition 10/22s that I would believe it, but I've never seen a factory stock that color.

This cycle panic stuff that wasn't big last time in retrospect we thought was dumb is still on the table.
Over reaching for things you want has a history of being grandfathered. If it's as bad as everyone thinks, all of that goes away instantly kind of grab is so far off people are talking generations away. You could see 3 generations at the least even if you don't have any offspring of your own. It makes sense people want to limit stuff since it seems like there is a pinnacle of effectiveness, but I'm not trying to shit on polymer framed double stack 9x19mm fags and want my own AR.
>>
>>31545584
Crossdraw is fine if you like it. The folks who take what works best in IDPA\ IPSC\ 3 gun and claim that it's an absolute rule are autistic as fuck. I typed out some shit on the pros\cons, but try everything, pick what you like, and then train. You'll be fine.

yes

And no the ATF will never find out and even if you walked into your local ATF field office and showed them they would tell you to not do that and go away. The only instances of anyone in the entire history of the NFA getting charged with having an illegal sbr is when it was an tacked on charge to a shitload of other serious felonies.

It's just unenforceable.

Any caliber can kill a bear if you shoot it enough and wait patiently for it to bleed out.
High power .44 mag and above stand a good chance of staggering a black bear in that it knows it's been hit with something painful and might want to reconsider eating you.

Honestly black bears aren't a massive danger unless you go near a momma and her cubs, or start running away on a bluff charge.

If you're in grizzly country bring a rifle.
>>
>>31544672
Hey, I'm looking for advice. Can someone help me?

Is anybody here?

Helloo?
>>
>>31545584
The downside to a crossdraw is that if you assume you are drawing while defending yourself from physical assault (ala Zimmerman), then by putting the arm across your body it can become pinned by an attacker with the gun still holstered.

Secondary is that it takes longer to U holster and have the gun point forward compared to a normal draw, where the gun can be rotated to make point blank shots as soon as it leaves the holster. Again, the time difference is measured in fractions of a second, but at close range self defense type ranges, it can make a difference.

Having actually practiced with a sparring partner and rubber gun, I can say I've never been able to successfully crossdraw and get the gun on target without getting tackled. I have much higher success rates with a standard draw.

Well, is there a gun you thought was just really cool as a kid? A gun you associate with an important family member like an uncle's .22 1903 trainer that you learned to shoot with, or a shotgun your granpappy used on those rabbit hunts where you'd run around trying to keep up with the dogs before being trusted with a gun of your own? Is there a new type of shooting you'd like to get into that could justify a new gun? Long range precision? IDPA? 3-gun? Skeet shooting?

Buckshot is ideal. However at say, across your living room range, birdshot is still going to seriously fuck some one up. The dudes not going to just go 'LOL! YOU SHOULDA BOUGHT BUCKSHOT FAGGOT!' and shrug it off. If hes still coming at you, shoot his ass again. Idc what those faggots say, you shoot some one 2-3 times across your living room even with birdshot they're probably gonna die, or at the very least stop trying to hurt you

Heavy grain hot hardcasts and you should do just fine. Maybe look in to a scope, but irons will do fine too of you're a good shot. Shot placement is always king
>>
>>31551038
Why do you have to post dumb shit? Yes it would suck to be shot by anything, but if you are not shooting a round with the potential to penetrate to vital structures in the body (and preferably through them), you're a retard. You may not get to shoot someone 2-3 times before they are able to do irreparable harm to you or someone else. You should plan for the worst case scenario, because if you have to shoot somebody, it's already not your day.
>>
>>31551038
dick cheney tho

Tbh I agree that less than ideal loadings will work in a pinch, but there is not a good reason to use birdshot over buckshot when it is easy to go buy the proper stuff. In close quarters, you are still going to have to aim as the shot will not disperse much.

Shot in general is killer when you can pattern multiple projectiles onto the target. Hoping to use a wide spread as compensation for poor aim is likely to lead to less-than-ideal results.

I'd say buckshot or slugs are the way to go. If you really are in fear of your life, gear up appropriately or just avoid a conflict.

Alright /k/, this is kind of embarrassing but I might as well ask. How the fuck do ranges work? What's the etiquette and what do I do?

I recently moved to a city (Edm. Canada if that makes any difference). I used to just shoot at a rural range where there was literally no supervision and I was the only person there most of the time, owing to my days off being Monday and Tuesday, so everyone else was at work. As such I could just walk around wherever the fuck I wanted and do anything lel. I assume that is very much not the case at a "real" range though.

tl;dr have to go to real range now wat do

Where the fuck do I find a full auto sear for an FN FNC? I already have a trust, I just never see them on any auction sites.
>>
>>31551336
indoor or outdoor?

Ask the rules, they will usually ask if you have been there before to figure out if they need to inform you about any site-specific rules. Pay attention if they only want single uncased firearms at the bench. If outdoors, they will have a SOP for when the range is hot/cold you need to pay attention to.

Most indoor and some outdoor ranges will ask to see your ammo. Mostly they are seeing if you have steel case/steel core ammo--particularly if rifle. Steel core rifle ammo may be turned away because it can ruin backstops. Steel case ammo may be turned away because it isn't easily reloaded or may be a fire hazard according to their insurance.

Not much to it besides listen for anything they tell you not to do and stay safe.
>>

>>
>>31551516
>indoor or outdoor?

My understanding is that the range I was intending to go to is a mixture of various indoor and outdoor ranges (eg. one designated for pistols, one for shotguns, etc) on a few hundred acres of land. The other options within driving distance are exclusively indoor though.

>Pay attention if they only want single uncased firearms at the bench. If outdoors, they will have a SOP for when the range is hot/cold you need to pay attention to.

One dude is likely dead if he starts a gunfight in a combat zone near likely guarded key assets (which I assume is related to his goals otherwise what is the point).

More believable it will be somewhere in between hiding in the shadows and in plain sight. Gear up somewhat like opfor, prepared to blend in, but keep all eyes off when sensitive.

You can form 4 it from anyone except an FFL. Fucked up rule, but 18 for a form 1 SBR, 18 for a form 4 from an individual or trust, 21 for a Form 4 from an FFL.

So unless you trust some guy in your state who has the SBR you want to hold your money until you have a stamp (and that guy's willing to deal with it), you're stuck building.

It's also tough at 18 to convince someone that they're allowed to sell you a pistol. Can you buy a rifle version, then form 1 it?

I dunno if it's worth it's own thread or not but what does everyone think about the cabela's buy out by bass pro? Even before the buy out bass pro and a cabela's were very similar. Only thing I worry about is if bass pro will cheap out cabela's clothing line. Cabela's has some great gear at good prices if you know what you are looking at.

Both are shitty for gun prices unless you catch a sale. Bass pro tends to be better priced with ammo the few times I checked them out

Is it worth it to get a -CR to then SBR? I've never dealt with SBR's before and have no idea what sort of hassle I might be in for.

For what it's worth, I intend to use the gun as a sort of all-round rifle. Home defense, range toy, SHTF, possibly a truck gun down the road, etc.

>Energy spent outside a body is energy wasted.
LOLENERGYTRANSFER get a load of this faggot
1. I said through vital structures.

2.No, it's energy spent going through a body. 2 holes is always better than one and if you don't have the potential to overpenetrate in an ideal shot, you're looking at underpenetration in a less than ideal shot. Take a direct thoracic shot. Your ideal would penetrate to the heart\ lungs and come to rest at the back ribs, Ideally, I would like the bullet to take a vertebra with it on the way into a wall or some shit. When you start shooting through shoulders because fights involve movement, you may understand why you're a dumbass.

What fucking good do you think a lump of metal is doing sitting inside some motherfucker after it didn't create a bigger wound is it sapping his chi after expending all it's own energy?I don't give a shit what nutnfaggot or whatever other sheepdog meme spouting mongoloid with a youtube channel told you the FBI said.

The FBI has to worry about getting sued if one of like 15,000 agents fucks up and shoots some unlucky motherfucker through some dumb motherfucker, so they try to limit overpenetration. I'm only worried about one motherfucker not getting shot, and it'd be a neat trick to catch a passthrough.

In short, fuck off and if you have to shoot somebody, use a round that will penetrate to, or preferably through vital structures.

People like you deserve to be raped. From within 10 yards, birdshot can absolutely kill a man. Shoot yourself in the leg with a round of it if you don't believe me. Pic fucking related, it's a leg that wound up being completely severed by birdshot.
>>
>>31551223
You seem to severely overestimate the average criminal. People like the one birdshotbro are worried about want nothing more than to grind your face into the dirt without you fighting back. The moment you do fight back, they have to reconsider whether what they're doing is worth the trouble. The moment you shoot at them, you REALLY stop looking like such an appetizing target. For fucks sake, we are likely talking about some two-bit shitbag from a trailer park, not an angry gorilla that thinks you fucked its she-beast with your superior homo-Sapien cock. That's a contact wound by 10 yards the shot has separated from the cup and won't penetrate more than 2 or 3 inches in gelatin, at 10 feet you'll get maybe 6 inches in gelatin. Humans are not gelatin, at either of those ranges a sternum will stop nearly all the pellets any hits on vital organs come down to luck. Birdshot is great for causing large superficial wounds but that doesn't count for shit in terms of stopping a fight right now, which is what you want to happen when you find it necessary to shoot someone.

Don't use fucking birdshot on things that aren't birds.

Recommending birdshot at all is fucking stupid

Here's a video from a guy who was shot in the arm, the torso, and the head from less than 10 feet.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3z4NMWdTcg
If he had a pistol he could likely have killed his attacker since he was still able to deflect the gun from his head after 2 shots. This is in no way uncommon, birdshot is simply not lethal in any immediate way. Stop recommending or excusing the use of birdshot for defense, it's fuddlore that can get someone killed.

I told him that similar 1911s were online for like 1200 and he said "500 and its yours"

Wish i knew the story on it. It has the "FJA" stamp on the left side by the grip, and the "RIA" stamp on the right side. That means it was rebuilt right? The slide is also marked "remington rand inc syracuse, ny, usa" and has the "p" stamp in front of the rear sights.

Gonna have to do some digging and serial number checking to see what year it was made etc.

Does sound like a damn shame.

You can even see here that there was almost no penetration. If you shot a man wearing a jacket and t shirt in the chest, youd be lucky to have one little pellet go through the sternum.

You have to be in contact range of some asshole to get a SOMEWHAT decent shot, an asshole that might be armed with a handgun, or a knife and might grab your barrel and prison rush/shank you.

Can it kill? Yes. But will it instantly incapacitate a man? Very unlikely. Even handguns shooting 150grain bullets and having perfect shot placement and adequate penetration have a hard time doing that.

I mean... If it's all you've got its all you've got. But you can easily turn your shotgun into a killing machine by just buying the right ammo, don't know why youd risk it by being lazy.

>5-73-107. Possession of a defaced firearm.

(a) A person commits the offense of possession of a defaced firearm if he or she knowingly possesses a firearm with a manufacturer's serial number or other identification mark required by law that has been removed, defaced, marred, altered, or destroyed.

(b) It is a defense to a prosecution under this section that the person reported the possession to the police or other governmental agency prior to arrest or the issuance of an arrest warrant or summons.

(c) (1) Possession of a defaced firearm is a Class D felony.
>>
>>31560581
That's only if it originally had a serial number and it was scratched or filed off. Firearms manufactured prior to 1968 did not require serial numbers and you do not need to stamp a serial number on them to legally own them.

>>31560705
Every handgun Colt made had a serial number when made. Most manufacturers marked their handguns to track shipping and inventory.
Every single gun legit marked U.S. Property had a serial when made, as mandated by the US Gov.
The only way a US 1911 would not have a serail number is if it was assembled from parts stolen from the factory, a counterfeit, or had the serial removed.

That's different then. I imagine the ATF would relish the opportunity to shoot your puppers over that even if it was manufactured prior to 1968.

You were told correctly. Colts can be trusted to run out of the box, RIAs are hit or miss but they have excellent support - and any 1911 that is not reliable can usually become so by changing either the recoil spring, mainspring, or adjusting extractor tension.

The absolute most reliable magazines are checkmate 7 round steel mags with the hybrid follower. These are the same as the Colt factory mags. Some mags don't like certain ammo, but the beauty of the 1911 is that you can tailor it to your usage by changing minor shit like that.

Start with something less...weird. Plus, the RFB has a lot of reliability issues. Maybe start with, say, a PTR, if you want a semi-auto .308? Those are pretty idiot-proof, but should teach you good habits. Then down the road get an RFB.

i have an AAC cyclone 7.62 and don't really want to buy more suppressors because i'm a cheap bastard, but want to use it on basically everything. its threaded, not QD.

what are the ideal rifles to make use of my can with 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R and still operate normally? meaning basically that i would settle for bolt-action 54r if there isn't a semiauto that will cycle, or if it will but it will also gas my face like an AR does.

just assume that i have a skilled non-bubba gunsmith who can do the threading for me, or move a front sight post or whatever else, because i do.

also assume i have no problem with the consequences e.g. shortening a barrel to a weird length. provided no federal laws are broken, of course.

Hello everyone

I need help on this more than just a question

I been looking dor this one manga that is hard to find since well it's "different" but I still wat to read it because it's my own personal thing to do

You may have seen some examples of it over in other boards so you may help me find it and link it for me but if you do not know what I talking about then let me explain it

It involves a woman and a man and they have a baby but something happens and it turns into a huge rape session by these guys where the woman ends up with her legs ripped off and raped while the man gets his eye gauged out and raped as well

Also the rapist takes the baby and shouts "BABY FUCK BABY FUCK" and proceeds to rape the baby infront of the woman and the man then puts the raped infant in the blender and turns it on turning the baby into nothing but liquefied blood and skin tissue causing the woman to completely break down

So again please would someone help me find this online because I would like to read the manga again please

Any reliable AK obviously with some custom work, I wouldn't even trust Arsenal on the threading, so just get it recut no matter what you choose. If you don't already have a bolt action, a hushed up CZ 527 could be fun.

Dunno man, a Mosin is the easy answer, but then you'd have to go through life both owning a Mosin and knowing that not even the spergs that like them don't like yours since you "ruined glorious history" or some shit to fit a suppressor on there.

First of all, those holes are holes, they are the absence of material.

>rail covers

Second, stop doing that.

>>
I have an upper with some things that annoy me, it's a 16" carbine length with a railed gas block. It's also nitrite treated making it hard to work on for things like pinning a gas block. Also it's 1:9. I wish I hadn't bought it, but I was new to ARs and an idiot.

Was thinking of putting on a clamp-on lopro gas block, are these decent? Any good ones? Also is carbine on a 16" worth getting upset over?

>>31572721
Panels, my bad. Unless putting some BCM rail panels on Keymod is considered heresy.
>>
>>31571828
Holy shit, they're giving out WataMote manga with firearm purchases now?
>>
>>31572856
You've got a whole lot of not ideal going on, but the only thing 1\9 means is no 77gr stuff and all carbine gas means is more recoil and more wear over time. A clamp on will work if you install it correctly. I've used the Yankee Hill Machine one with no problems.

>>31572889
Wasn't a terminology thing, just have an unnatural aversion to rail covers and panels, never liked them and hoped the key-mod etc would make it stop. If you like them go for it.

You can fix it, there's a spring and two detent balls, either spring died or the last jackass put it back together wrong\ lost a detent.

You'll need to drive out the pin with a punch and getting the wheel back in without losing a detent is delicate, but not hard.

That's a ramped tenon style front sight. Look at Brownells part# 584-006-145WB it looks similar. You will want to look up what tenon your gun uses.

As for internals, the only consumables are the recoil spring and firing pin spring.

Why is the market so bad? What would you consider a good price and why isn't that currently available?
>>
>>31581492
The US AK market can historically be divided into two groups- rifles imported to the US made on USSR spec equipment, like WASRs, Saigas and Arsenals; and US made garbage. Why the US rifles are shit AKs is a long story and I could go for a few posts explaining why, but it's quicker to just say that and move on.
I won't get into Chinese AKs, because that's ancient history.
almost all Russian AK imports were banned by Obama (with the notable exception of VEPRs), restricting supply. That leaves said VEPRs, Arsenal products, and WASRs as decent alternatives. WASRs had their importation fucked up by certain business maneuvering by their sole importer, Century Arms, jacking up their price. Further, the Cugir factory that produces WASRs is currently occupied with better paying military contracts- the effect being that you're not going to find a WASR for $500-600 like you should.
Arsenals experienced huge demand because no WASRs, and are going for $1100 minimum. Nice rifles, but damned expensive.
VEPRs come in waves, and have to be worked on to accept standard AK accessories like furniture. They are really solid rifles, but to get an AKM copy with a VEPR you're looking at spending Arsenal money, easy.
With the election coming and no end in sight to the bans, outlook is grim.
You could buy a Zastava, but you'll always need Yugo parts. Really kind of a snowflake AK.

>>31581596

What is the purpose of th e foregrip ?

Is it to A: provide a place to put/protect your hand
B: does it snug the face to the back of the barrels ?

also has anyone mated two singles shots to a double shot ?
I was thinking of soldering them (since even tig applies too much heat ?) since it is what was done in the factory. and just wondering if anyone has done this and any tips ?

Maryland anon here,

Does anyone know if you can buy high capacity (>10 rd) magazines in VA or PA and drive them across state lines to MD?

Our law does not restrict citizens from owning high cap mags, just buying them in state?

PS90 is probably too niche for this election, you alreasy have an x39 rifle, so I'd go for the PTR/FAL
