DCS World sure is fun.

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

DCS World sure is fun.

do i have to be a real pilot to truly enjoy it? Is there an "easy" mode with lots of automation?
>>
>>31541300
Why do you feel it is hard to read a manual? It takes like three hours tops to understand one plane enough to fly it.

Seriously?

Unless you're legitimately retarded it's not difficult.
>>
>>31541300
The Forgotten Cliffs aircraft (F-15, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25T) have simplified controls. It's definitely /not/ arcade mode; you have to manage the radar, use your displays to properly employ weapons, fly the plane, etc...but it's not as overwhelming as some of the other aircraft, and all the systems still rely on realistic physics.

Additionally they just added an F-5E model which is a light fighter that is easy to figure out, full cockpit, with a manual.
>>
>>31541231
If liked War Thunder will I like this?
>>
If I learn how to operate these aircraft in game, would I be able to use them irl in a pitch?
>>
>>31541517
Yes and no

Like driving a car, a lot of piloting is done by 'feeling' instead of thinking. A sim can teach you a lot of theory, and how to use instruments, but they lack the physical responses you get from really being in the cockpit.

>spend all day doing multi-engine commercial flight training
>come home
>spend all evening doing A-10C flight training
>spend all night dogfighting in the F-86 and making missions/scenarios in the editor

>>31541571
Once you have gained the airmanship skill, It's easier irl.
It takes me half the time to set the (RPM & Manifold) power settings irl than it does in the DCS p-51.
Granted, I haven't flown a real p-51. But I have flown T-6s and T-28As. They are all the same.
Having a feel for the plane and physically moving levers and flipping switches makes it easier and more comfortable.
>>
Falcon 4 BMS or fuck off back to /v/ or /vg/.
>>
>>31541855
No, nod really.
>>
>>31541517
Sure

Just as long as I'm not in the plane with you
>>
>>31541517
Not really. Real training simulators are a lot more detailed in terms of the controls and instruments than anything DCS World would offer. I'm talking about simulations involving the actual flight computer code, where each little gauge and indicator is individually modeled based on actual flight data. Each individual servo would be modeled right down to the oscillation in the motor, the milliamps drawn, its current temperature (driven up by use), etc.
>>
>>31541510
Do you play realistic? If not your attention span won't be enough.
>>
>>31541823
>It takes me half the time to set the (RPM & Manifold) power settings
Same

Any idea why?
>>
>>31541315
>3 hours
They even have full interactive tutorials that cut that time to like an hour.
Trust me, I'm a fucking retard but I was able to fully understand and utilize an SU-27 like an hour and a half because of the tutorials.
>>
>>31541300
as someone who hasn't played a flight sim since that other A-10 one 20 years ago, it wasn't that bad just using a keyboard and 260 pad.

I'm waiting for F-18 or F-14 to come out before I return, I got burned out with the ded multiplayer.
>>
>>31541231

If some retarded let's players on youtube can play it, so can you.

>liking the F-14 more than the FW-190 or F-16

Shit taste my man.
>>
>>31543661
I already have the 190, and the F-16 isn't ever going to be in DCS.

I don't know how to turn them off, and even then I want people who haven't heard of the game to know what plane that was. No bully please.
>>
>>31542516
When setting power irl you can use one hand to pull back the prop lever and the throttle.
You can pull them back at the same time, as long as you start pulling back the throttle first.
You also have a feel of where the levers should be.
Kinda like the gas pedal in your car, you know exactly how far to move your foot to get what you want.
>>
>>31544013
ALTITUDE ALTITUDE
PULL UP PULL UP
>>
>>31541231
I don't like it.

LOMAC ran like shit for me and so does DCS. On top of that the plane selection still feels too restrictive.

I mostly stick to SF2, nowhere near as realistic but more places and stuff to fly.

The fuck is going on here? I'm very confused and scared.

I will however, return with my own exploits. https://youtu.be/thuU0_1fzTo?t=19m3s

>>31548707
What about that webm confused you? It was my first time in the F-15C and my reading the manual didn't help because all the controls and procedures i memorized slipped my mind. I got shot down and ejected.

I'm dying for the F/A-18C. I love my Mirage, but, dammit, I've been in love with the Hornet since I first saw the Blue Angels when I was five. The -C especially is just such an elegant jet.

It just was weird. And blurry (because .webm is best format ever).

Like, why did you open the canopy before bailing out when it's so much more exciting to blow it off?
