There are some photos of Russian SF using ARs during competition, but for business it's all AK-74M and AK105. Very occasionally you will see an AK104, but 7.62 is more popular with MVD.

"Rifle is fine" is an American invention, Russians love attachments and tactical doodads as much as we do. The AK aftermarket is exploding over there, but you will still see a lot of them using american stuff like TWS doglegs, ultimaks, eotechs. They really don't give a shit about all their gear being domestic, so long as it works.

Nothing is wrong with iron sights. They just aren't as good as what most other units use.

Anything past 150 meters and you aren't making the shot while under fire with irons

Not to mention with any kind of gear (helmet, eyepro, backpack, body armor) they can be a bitch to line up and they are already slower to line up than a dot sight or a scope of some sort. It's at least that's been my experience.
